I think it helped spark more of an interest in music in general. When I was young I had been turned off by the pop music of the time and I was 'that kid' that just listened to video game soundtracks. Homestuck was this weird webcomic that happened to have cool music tracks by complete amateurs, and I was impressed and eventually branched out into more stuff.
