What a remarkable coincidence that the murder of Frank Castle's family was the result of a drug deal orchestrated by his own former commanding officer!

Could you just answer my fucking question instead of being a smart ass?
>>
>>81466845
Blacksmith never showed. He gathered the gangs but got wind of undercover cop so never showed. He didn't know Frank's family was in the park. Remember the DA covered their deaths up, and tried to kill off Frank. Only thing Blacksmith was doing was supplying the drugs and trying to control the market.

Frank killed him anyways because he indirectly caused the death of his family. Also he tried to frame Frank for killing the DA and trying to kill Karen.

It was pretty simple. Also does anyone realize that Karen is a better investigator than Jessica Jones?
>>
>>81467264
Wait, I thought he was the Blacksmith?

I'm sorry, but your question sounds like
>does anyone realize that Karen is a better investigator than a mentally challenged newborn
>>
>>81467187
New guy here but yeah. He was bringing in drugs from Afghanistan on a higher and faster level than his competition.

Him also being the cause of Frank's tragedy is a bit... convenient narratively, but I can see why they went that route.
>>
>>81467264
Wasnt there a mention that the mission they went on was somehow involved? Someone Frank pissed off overseas or something?
>>
>>81466738

Is that fucking Clancy brown?
>>
>>81467374
No. Only people he pissed off were dead. It didn't start until later when Frank got out the military and didn't come work for Blacksmith. If he had then maybe his family would've been safe, but Frank wouldn't willingly be shipping drugs. He's pretty straight laced, and is against all illegit activities. Like he probably killed the pawnshop owner with the baseball bat, the one who offered him kiddy porn.
>>
>>81467468
Yes, he's now played an evil military man for both DC and Marvel live-action. But the Marvel one is gritty while the DC one fights superhumans.
>>
Yes it was dumb. Ninjas were dumb too. So I think the ninjas distracted most people.

jokes on you, I dont even know what contrived means!
>>
>>81467312
>>81467264

I guess I was confused because he never outright stated he was. Like he saw the people attacking Frank on the boat. They mentioned something about knowing him before the huge explosion. Then people thought Frank was dead. Then Karen goes to his house, notices the picture and that's when he starts threatening her. I guess I thought he was involved in something related but wasn't Blacksmith?
>>

I liked that elektra meeting daredevil wasnt a coinkydink. Is it this way in the comics? I assume it isn't sonce elektra being the ultra special hand weapon was made up.
>>
>>81467616
The stairwell fight scene, Frank, and the brief Kingpin bits were the only good parts about season 2.
>>
>>81467616

Well I just posted my post and left off that maybe I was confused because it was cut into the scenes with Matt/the Hand etc.

>>81467468

The first thing I thought when I saw him on stand was "FRANK NO LIKE BANANA!"
>>

Karen basically lucked into finding who the guy was.

Nah, watch it again. He's the only one in the story that could be the Blacksmith.

since we're on the topic of weird things from this season, does anyone know who the redheaded woman working for the Hand was supposed to be? She showed up in the last few episodes of the story, seemed to hold some sort of position of leadership in the organization, but then she disappears right before the last fight. The credits only credit her character as "Tyler," which doesn't help much at all.
>>
It's a post 2k American TV show. "Military Officer" is second only to "CIA Agent" as obvious villain tropes. I knew he was a baddy the second he appeared.
>>
>>81467683
Word. When someone says "season 2 was great!" or "season 2 was better than season 1" they're obviously trolling. Or they're a pedophile. It's one or the other though, for sure.

Season 2 was Arrow-tier television.
>>
>>81468359
Daredevil is a weird case where, aside from some great fight scene choreography, it's a superhero show where the superhero bits are the worst part. Everything in season 1 with the villains just being regular mobsters (for the most part) made the show almost too down-to-earth. You didn't need a whole lot of suspension of disbelief to buy what you were watching, it only really got outlandish with the Nobu fight and some of the more nitpicky shit like Matt being able to tell the exact model of gun some goons were using. Thus, when season 2 cranks up the superhero stuff with all the Hand shit, it feels too goofy. That's not the only problem with season 2, but it's a big one.
>>
>>81468359

>Season 2 was Arrow-tier television

Towards the end of it, yeah. I was thinking the same thing in that final fight. We got two seasons of epic fight scenes and the last one was so anti-climatic. It really felt like Arrow, who I expect as much because they're running a smaller budget.

Like there was an army of ninjas, then suddenly like four... two get gunned down by Frank. I saw that coming but I was hoping it'd be a bigger fight with Frank being way more involved.

HELL, they should of had the Hand be involved with Frank's trajedy since the pulled the rest of out their ass at the end. It seemed like the two plot points never came together and one just took away from the other.

I don't like how Matt said his normal life is what's important to him and then he straight up abandons his friends and law firm and girlfriend.
>>
>>81468788
>Like there was an army of ninjas, then suddenly like four

Elektra killed a whole bunch of them while Matt was slow dancing with Nobu.

And the President.
>>
Show quality is directly related to the amount of Kingpin really. Nobu couldn't carry the show as a villain.

Also, not much lawyering, much more detective work. And then Jessica Jones had no detective work at all since she knows the villain right away. Netflix series are very precarious right now, but I have a lot of faith in Luke Cage.
>>
>>81471914
I always thought that Matt and Foggy being lawyers was much more entertaining than Karen being a sleuth.
>>
>>81471961
Karen hurts the show a lot. Especially so since she gets so much more screen time than any character other than Matt. She accomplishes almost nothing in the second season. She finds out everything 5 minutes before it becomes public knowledge.
>>
>>81466845

It was never stated, but I'd be willing to bet that the Colonel suggested Frank take his family to the park that day. He clearly wanted Frank out of the way, since he was a potential threat to his drug running operations, getting them caught up in the carnage of a drug sting gone bad was the perfect way to do it.
>>
>>81466845
yeah when would a senior military officer ever get involved in drug dealing
>>
>>81466738
It seemed like they were implying by the end that the Blacksmith knew Castle was at the park that day, and intended for him to die, as revenge for not joining him in his illegal heroin shit when he was given the chance back in Afghanistan.
>>
>>81472001
>>81471961

Yeah I feel like they focus more on her than anything. Of course, it's the same trend in all cape stuff, cute side character girl somehow becomes main character of everything.

As much as I like qt Karen, she's not Daredevil and that's what this show is about. Also it's dumb writing to have her not work at their firm anymore. The fuck is she going to have anything to do with them now? Getting rid of the firm was so stupid it's another "NO MORE SHIELD" nuke your own future plot idea.
>>
Who the fuck was the guy in the picture supposed to be? Was he someonec we saw Frank kill earlier?

Apart from Foggy's speech, it didn't feel as enjoyable as them helping out clients in season 1.

You actually need Karen to turn to the camera and say "You were the blacksmith all along"
>>
>>81472828
Oh good, I thought you were one of those who disliked Foggy as a whole.
>>
>>81472927
I actually thought they were saving the Blacksmith for his Netflix series.
>>
>>81472828
It's probably because the entire single court section they had is nothing but forced drama between all the characters to break up N&M and pointless Karen flirting with Frank scenes.
>>
>>81472978
Don't mean to dish you that bad. T.v has a habit of if it doesn't explicitly tell you something they intend it to be a plot twist later.
>>
>Way too much Karen
>Karen in every single plot situation
>Not nearly enough Foggy
>No strong villain
>Investigation to lawyering ratio is fucked
>clearly cut content
>poor Daredevil character development
>teasing us with the much stronger villain from Season 1
>Punisher and Elektra make Daredevil look boring
>2 good action sequences for 12 hours of capes
>Nobu just brought back to highlight that the Hand can bring people back, no upgrades from the last time we saw him lose a fight
>Marine guy is the Blacksmith just because
>Punisher's character is fucked as a result of him getting too much retribution by getting the Blacksmith so fast
>Worried about the DA ruining their practice when they already get paid in pie and dodge bills

Season 2 is a mess.
>>
Punisher to show up on Jessica Jones WHEN?
>>
>>81473110
I actually enjoyed it more than DD1, mostly because not everyone you see is a corrupt cop. I enjoyed Karen because it meant more Frank, and I partly agree that Matt's gotten more boring this season, though that's because they spent half the season bitching about the Hand and we hardly see them as a big threat besides the big reveal that they need five children for their resurrection pot.

One more thing

>2 good action sequences for 12 hours

To be fair, they had a shit ton of action sequences but a lot of those felt poor, mostly due to how easily they jabbed the ninjas.
>>
>>81473524
You have a bigger chance of Iron Fist to appear in Jess Jones.

>>
>>81467264
>He didn't know Frank's family was in the park.

Yet, it still sounds like a fucking stupid and forced coincidence.
>>
Instead of two storyline concurrently the writers should just have split the season into two separate arcs, Punisher is the first half and the Elektra hand story happens from the 7th episode onwards. The season would still be terrible however, because of all the plot holes.
>>
>>81472822
>warlords in ancient China even though ninjas are Japanese
It amazes me how writers don't look this stuff up or nobody in the creative process goes, "Wait, this isn't right"
>>
>>81474046
It's not true love, anon, unless she emotionally devastates you on a regular basis.
>>
>>81474077
>coincidence
Frank's family weren't the only ones. He knew there might be people in the park, but chose not to get them out of there because a suspiciously empty park might have spooked the gangbangers
>>
What about Jigsaw?
>>
>that episode where Matt is literally sitting on his couch, waiting for the Hand/Elektra arc to start back up after he thought the Punisher arc was finished
I laughed out loud at that shit. So fucking goofy.
>>
>>81473524
Isn't Nuke already kind of Jessica's Punisher? They don't really need another one.
>>
>>81474198
That was my biggest grumble about this season. Season 1 Daredevil is dovotedly hunting down the criminal element in Hell's Kitchen, unraveling shit on his own. The Hand arc sucked, because it was usually just him getting pulled into Elektra's shit, and often it seemed like he was just her muscle, while she did all the investigation.
>>
>>81466738
I forgot, what was the reason he needed to kill the DA and frame Frank for?
>>
Who thought that having Frank show up sniping ninjas at the end was a good idea? Why would he even be there?
>>
>>81468038
Yeah I was pretty disappointed
>>
>>81467616
People complaining about ninjas should not consume Daredevil. It's like complaining that there's too much treasure hunting in Indiana Jones.
>>
>>81474452
kill and/or discredit any threads that tied him to the sting to prevent anyone from putting two and two together and blowing his cover
>>
>>81467545
>Like he probably killed the pawnshop owner
>probably
>>
>>81472304
That's what I understood. I honestly had no idea who the Blacksmith was until Karen went to interview the Col. My gf remarked about how she likes Clancy because of how well he plays people of dubious morality and it suddenly clicked for both of us. "Oh he's so nice here-wait a minute..."
>>
>>81472851
No hes one of the dudes who showed up right before the boat blew. He yelled "hey frank!" or some shit like he knew him. It looks like frank recognized him and thats probably when he realized clancy was the blacksmith
>>
I kind of tuned out for the last stretch of the series. Why did he suddenly decide to reveal all of his crimes to the girl who came to interview him to get some pathos for a human interest story on Frank? Was he just that paranoid or were they just desperate for an awkward segue?
>>
>Blacksmith
>OC Villian

WHY
>>
>>81475795

Probably because they didn't want to blow someone who's actually important on what amounts to a very small plot. Most of the big name crime lords like Silvermane or Hammerhead are tied up in plotlines they might want to adapt later.
