What iconic storyline does Superman have ?

Death of Superman

Secret Identity, For All Seasons, Whatever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow, The Death and Return of Superman, any of Johns' arcs, I hate it but All Star Superman for many, I'm sure a few others.

Shit sons, you're 100% correct. I got hung up on the idea of arcs and already having listed Moore. Whatever Happened is a bit longer, but still not an arc anyway.

All Star, m8.

Honestly it has to be All Star

For me it's Kingdom Come

OP here.

Thanks a lot for those indications. I'm a long-time fan of the DC universe as a whole, but haven't actually read that much comics. It's good that /co/ isn't like /a/, where daring to ask an advice is bound to generate outrage.

Man, if this isn't just an "iconic story" thread, but rather a "good run" thread, we can go further.

Some people still love Byrne's run on Man of steel, I loved the entire run from after Infinite Crisis up until the end of War of the Supermen. Great meltiing pot of silver age ideas and newer stories, then the New Krypton stuff was really neat.

Even outside of Death and Return of Superman, the 90's was fairly kind to Supes. Aside from that time a bitter fired Byrne had him kill Zod. Or electric Superman.

There are other era's and runs people liked too of course. I'm blanking like a fucking retard though.

Most of the Superman in X Decade collections, or Superman vs Chief Foe, or Superman With Chief Ally collections are pretty neat overviews of concepts and eras.

Red Son?

Check out the Maggin novels. That's the last time someone put some serious thought into the character. Well him, Cary Bates and Samuel Hawkins.

I've been wondering why DC doesn't churn out two or three Maggin omnibus'.

Then I remember they have no idea how to trade anything. Ever. FUCKING EVER.

Tie between those two and Whatever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow.

Maybe they don't because their stories aren't considered iconic. I agree with you though, it is frustrating as fuck.

You got that right.
