Show me a comic scene from 1941 or later where Batman kills a human...and it's not a dream sequence or elseworlds.

Go on, I'll wait.

Before you complain that I'm being too selective keep in mind that I'm giving you 70 years worth of comics choose from. I'm only excluding 1939 and 1940 and eleseworlds/dreams of course.

Face it; any vigilante can go around killing his enemies, it's Batman's steadfast resolve NOT to lower himself to their level that makes him a hero. How much more skill does it take to incapacitate his opponent rather than just gun them down?

More often than not "reinterpretations" of the character remove this moral imperative, almost out of necessity. It is a limitation that requires creativity to overcome, every time a hack gets his grubby hands on the character they remove this imitation because the lack the skill to overcome it. Nearly every movie, elseworlds or tribute to the character foolishly, stubbornly, selfishly blunder down this path. It's like a puzzle, the end result is a wonderful picture but everyone just thinks it's fine to get out a pair of scissors and rend the pieces into more manageable shapes. The end result is just a mess.

Not at all, Batman does not begrudge the police from doing their jobs.

The only person that he holds to a higher standard is himself, that's why he has subjected himself to the most extensive and rigorous training possible. He will not allow himself to take a life but he knows police don't have that luxury, nor would he take issue with the courts from assigning a death sentence.

Why are people so butthurt about superheroes killing people? Heroes in action movies do that all the time and those aren't always special agents or policemen. Superheroes don't kill their villains because coming up with new ones every month for all eternity is a pain in the ass for the writers.

>>81388181
Technically, he just locks the KGBeast in a room and opts out of a pointless fight. You could argue that he later had the police take him prisoner or that he knew a man of KGBeasts skill would eventually escape. Regardless, the KGBeast survived...

So, again, I ask for a scene from the past 70 years where Batman kills a human outside of a dream or elseworlds.

As a life long DC fan I have always found this argument to be irritating at best, if you prefer the murderous vigilante type why not read The Punisher or Invincible or something? Why constantly insist that Batman is a mercilous killer, it's a rubbish interpretation.

>>
>>81388904
>Why constantly insist that Batman is a mercilous killer, it's a rubbish interpretation.
On the contrary I think Bruce crossing the line and then trying to bring himself back onto the "right" path could be quite compelling if done right. It only seems bad because the implications of Batman killing have never been satisfactorily addressed in a book. There have been plenty of stories where the no kill rule has come off as a poorly defined concept and a cop out yet it still remains the fan favourite interpretation because it has been presented incredibly well in some stories.

Yeah but the setup was that if the KGBeast was arrested, he would get off due to diplomatic immunity. (Which I'm sure is fucking bullshit since he killed people and tried to kill the President in that story.) So the impact of the locked room thing only worked if he intended to lock him and starve him there. Naturally this is a big no-no for Batman so they did a follow-up story where KGBeast was just arrested.

But the KGBeast story, the Cult, and the story where >>81387303 and Death in the Family were all written by the same guy. Someone remind me why Jason Todd had to die again? I seriously hope it wasn't because fans were upset that Jason may or may not have killed that diplomat's son cause Batman practically does the things he was scolding Jason for in some of those comics.
>>

Under the influence of brainwashing, torture and heavy narcotics Batman kills...oh well, I suppose I never did state in my challenge that he had to kill of his own free will. So that's one kill in 70 years worth of Batman comics...albeit with a heavy asterisk.

Bravo.

Batman (should be) obsessed with not killing. He's fine with cops doing it, but if you're a vigilante in Gotham and you want to run with him, don't bloody kill anybody. Some writers fail to convey how serious that is to Batman.
>>
>>81386819
>insane ex-cop that thinks he's Batman

you know I really want to keep liking Grant Morrison but is EVERYTHING HE'S EVER DONE secretly cribbed from some silver age comic somewhere?

Nah Jason died because he was a little shitstain that no one liked. Dixon really was the one that drove that into the ground later but the elements are there in the original run even if Jason Todd fags like to ignore them.

>>81402319

Yes. It's why it's so funny to watch Morrison fags cry about Snyder cribbing generic storytelling elements Morrison used.
>>
These misleading examples are ultimately unnecessary. There's plenty of room for various interpretations of Batman. While his no-kill rule is a vital part of his character now, I wouldn't say it's a fundamental part of Batman on conceptual level. We can have more than one kind of Batman.

Because Jim Starling hated the idea of Robin and wanted Batman to be on his own and O'Neil made Jason as unlikeable as possible to get rid of him.

Jason was just the unlucky guy in the wrong time and the whole thing about him being so "unpopular" was just a myth dc created because of the backlash.

I posted panels of Superman swearing or demonstrating a solid no kill code for more years than people been alive, disproved the Superman II shit legitimately, provided evidence why Bryne and the like should be discredited and created solid alternatives to the act in MoS itself without trying to be super rude to people about it.
