We don't know what she thought of the whole situation yet.

For all we know she could be happy the bombs saved her from the snake, proving to Lyn she was right to want them.

I don't think it's him agreeing that what Holly individually did was terrible, it's him realizing it's what anyone would have done.

And a world in which people respond to a call for help by coming armed with powerful explosives is a pretty awful place. Everyone is terrible; including (just not specifically) Holly.

well, we are not sure if she's completely over it, she has been really good at concealing and keeping emotions in check, could have something to do with being cold blooded, who knows.
>>
>>81336777
When you consider what we know of Kirbee's backstory though she's possibly more well adjusted because she's essentially been playing on easy mode until now, compared to the shit holly had to deal with:
Poverty, pregnancy, accepting shady deals, conflict with spouse, blowing up your friend and her husband in a half accident when she turned into a snake.

From what we now so far kirbee got through the apocalypse by smoking pot, watching the x-files and being a lizard in a pro-lizard colony.

She could still be shattered like a dropped glass is what I'm saying.

So far we've had one ditto flashback for Sparkplug (which was feral ones tormenting him), and another for Wally (which was Marx trying to help him explain it).

So I can see it either being a bunch of feral ones trying to drive a wedge between Holly and Wally, or it being Holly subconsciously trying to push Wally away.

Or it's not dittos at all (since there's sound), and then it gets complicated.

Realistically the odds of Ethel wouldn't have been a violent mutant is 33%. Given how it was mid day that would probably have been higher.

They were sold to be safe enough to be Child-friendly. If its not 100% safe, this level of safety is damn close to it.

>They're bombs. They don't claim to be otherwise. Nobody seems to be under any impression that they aren't lethal.

>>
>>81340112

Actually they were advertised as being both autonomous and not a danger to anyone that didn't actually pose a threat. Holly had no control over them and they were billed as having proper judgement themselves.

The only thing Holly did was put them in her purse on a separate occasion and then bring it when she went to Ethel's

I think it looks a lot more like she's just taking the opportunity to get out the door while the snake isn't looking at her. She was terrified of Ethel from the moment she appeared, and nothing really changed that until she was covered in bombs. And all that did was provide a distraction to escape, and an additional motivation to get away because she knew what would happen next.

So it's entirely plausible she never actually accepted what the snake was telling her.
>>
>>81342087
>I think it looks a lot more like she's just taking the opportunity to get out the door
Her hand on her face indicate more than anything her urge to not completely break down. She is running away because she know the bomb are going to explode and there is nothing she can do about it.

Yes, and that means she was aware of the possibility that they could go off. That was my point.

Holly thought the bombs would only activate in the presence of a genuine threat.
She took the bombs with her, in case of such a threat.
She arrived and encountered a threat.
The bombs activated and exploded the threat.

That sequence of events is entirely expected if you own and carry buddibombs with you, because that's their entire purpose. From their description so far, there's nothing to mislead you about them doing anything else.

The part that Holly *didn't* expect was that Ethel herself would be the threat. That isn't an issue with the buddibombs. They aren't malfunctioning or doing something they said they wouldn't do. They're still doing *exactly* what they said they'd do. Holly just failed to consider the possibility of encountering a threat she didn't want to blow up, which is why the blame falls to her for carrying such a weapon.

Assuming, that is, she didn't actually want to blow up Ethel, since it's kinda ambiguous as to whether she believed the snake was her friend and/or whether it wasn't actually going to hurt her. And given the previous monster encounter, it wouldn't be hard to see why.

I'm not saying they're a good or safe product, since they're clearly ridiculous and dangerous. I'm with Lyn in saying anyone who'd use them is mad.

>Holly just failed to consider the possibility of encountering a threat she didn't want to blow up
Exactly, what idiot wouldn't take into consideration the possibility of their friend turning into a talking venomous animal?
I mean sure, if Ethel had tried to kill her for some reason as a human and the bombs went off then it would've just been exactly as expected.
But it's on Holly to account for the possibility of the bombs targeting a friendly due to something as common as a full physical transformation into an entirely different creature that might trigger the bombs on some other parameter than bad intentions.

>I'm with Lyn saying anyone who'd use them is mad.
Which is exactly what Wally is talking about, EVERYONE is understandably insane with paranoia due to the war, which is terrible, and Apex is profiting off it hard.
The second I read today's strip I knew Kirbeefags would still be trying to spin this on that mouse and take what Wally says out of context somehow.
>>
>>81345324

>The only twist I can still see is the events not being wholly accurate, since we don't have Holly around to verify any of this.

we don't really a have reason to believe this is not accurate, and holly being around would actually make things worse... imagine her trying to stop herself like sparkplug did out of anger...
>>
>>81345165
She didn't want him to fight, so much as she wanted him to try and survive.

And in fairness, she did say 'needless' killing. This being the person who they could get to go on literal snipe hunts. They must have done something wrong to end up in the ring, right?

I wonder what excuse they used to get her to help in the purge...

>>
>>81345463
>>81346688
I don't think Holly can be blamed for not expecting Ethel to turn into a snake. The worst she can really be accused of is being reckless by using a weapon she couldn't control. But even then, she had no reason not to trust the bombs, and it's hard to blame them for doing what they're meant to.

Yet, Holly's insistence on wanting them is ultimately what killed Ethel, even if unintentionally. There are certainly mitigating factors (Wally's right and it's a pretty terrible world they're in right now), but in the end she shouldn't have given in to the culture of fear, and blindly trusted technology that would automatically eliminate anything that threatened her. Clearly she needed time to try to understand the situation with Ethel, but by following the buddibomb mindset she denied herself the opportunity to do that.

So yeah, there's a fault by her in there somewhere. It's an after-school special on cold war paranoia, that's for sure. Give peace a chance, let cooler heads prevail and try to understand your enemies instead of wanting to blow them up.

It was Lyn who saw Wally though.

And... hmm.

I'm suddenly realizing it may not be a coincidence that if a single one thing could have averted Ethel's death, it would have been Holly just listening to Lyn. About entertaining the notion that the mutation virus was real and people were changing. About not joining the buddibomb craze.

He was subtly giving Holly the opportunity to change what was about to happen. She didn't take it. It's all gone a bit Quantum Leap.

Everyone seems to think Holly will be torn up about killing Ethel, but she'll have made the exact same rationalization Wally did back then. Mutant that may or may not have actually attacked her? Killing it was still the safe, and therefore right thing to do. For all she knew Ethel was going to end up like the last monster she saw. Husband caught in the blast? She clearly didn't see him on her way out, and there's not going to be much left to figure out what actually happened. The conclusion that will likely be reached is that he was already dead, killed by the mutant, further justifying what she did so she wouldn't be next.

When Holly herself eventually mutates, that attitude isn't going to change. Because fast-forward to present Holly, and she still has it. She doesn't share Wally's sensibilities about killing, and on plenty of occasions has put keeping herself (and that of the people she cares about) safe, even if it doesn't necessarily mean doing the right thing.

Of course, she isn't even going to know the truth about what happened until she saw it again now. And it's hard to guess what being confronted with it will do.
>>
>>81371548

There is no going back. This is the true Holly we're finally seeing now.

He prowls the wastes to fight Topsiders with his bear-style luchador moves. He even knitted himself a special mask, boots, and tights to be a true luchador. Crazy thing is, he actually took down a scouting party and survived.

That sounds more like the case of a Schism syndrome mutant.

Hey, lovely stuff DK as always.

I did have an idea of a character I could play in Endtown RPG that I scrapped. Maybe you want to take a shot - basically a "Nice" version of Max from first Mad Max - a boar sheriff, armed with a 12g, patrolling the wastes is his falling-apart car, dispensing justice against wrongdoers like thieves and raiders but he's really a simple nice guy and thinks that even that when society falls apart he still should do his duty, a worldview that actually keeps his sanity intact.

Could every degree of anthro be found in Entown?

I mean, there was Flask and if Cooper is right then the right combo of drugs should turn you into a human with mutated bits.

Just hit me, but Reptilian police officers would be funny.

You can't refer to them as pigs OR fuzz.

Either you're a Typhoid Mary or Furnace Tier and below. The virus has to hit hard to have an impact.
