Anyone else think it was weird how all the bears in Zootopia were polar bears?
I mean, I dunno about you, but I've seen a handful of bears in the wild in life and none of them were white
There were regular bears too, just not prominent. One of the missing preds was a brown colored bear, I believe.

What do you think we need to do, Mad Stan???
>>81255038
How bad must the predators have felt when they came too? Like we know for sure the polar bear critically injured someone. What if they never came out of it? How devastated would the polar bear be? I doubt he'd be charged with murder since it wasn't at all their fault, but would they be charged with anything? I assume the charges would be placed on Bellwether or Doug.
Hell depending on how any of the predators take it they make need therapy. It's kind of heavy stuff if you think about some of the background things they didn't touch on.
>>81250560
There were brown bears.
What bugged me more was how all the polar bears had the black eyes and muzzle where the fur thinned even if it's technically correct.
>>81250560
Were your eyes closed at the nudist club scene? Did it make you feel uncomfortable?
>>81261547
Why would that bother you?
Yeah talk about white washing. Disney's so racist they can only have white bears, baka
>>81250560
There's a brown bear in the audience of Judy's press conference. His reaction to her racism and what the crowd was saying after that is the best. It's like he knows he's watching Zootopia fall apart.
>>81261516
Assuming Zootopia's laws roughly conform to modern laws, at least, and there's no reason not to outside of species specific stuff, the only question is "did he take the drug willingly and with knowledge of the consequences?"
There's no question that he was drugged without his knowledge or consent, the conspiracy is a matter of public record at this point. He might be put in protective custody to keep people who aren't cops from retaliating though.

I liked touches like that. It makes it feel like this sorta thing is an actual threat instead of them just being a nuisance. Really the whole film felt like it wasn't trying to shy away from things just because children would be watching it. Like they rode a very fine line between what they could and couldn't do.
Kind of makes me think of Bluths good movies. Sad or hurtful things happen, blood and death are a real thing, characters have emotion and depth. I hope if they make a sequel they get every single person who worked on the first back on board.

Perhaps they were used to give more contrast to Judy and the city early on? Tiny bunny, large bears. As the move progresses they focus more on Judy and Nick instead of so much the city itself thus the bears got less screen time? Just tossing out possibilities. Not sure why else they'd not have them around much. Where would they mostly live? Some bears live in snowy mountains, others forests, but which is more prominent? Hell maybe they were all hibernating.
>>81263380
He did back off rather quickly when Judy came to his van for help finding Nick. He probably figured since Nick was going to be helping the cop he'd have a free day or so to just go chill or earn some more cash.

Here's the thing: Zootopia is the epicenter of peace. The historic watering hole is in that park between the museum, ZPD, and mayor's office. From there predator and prey started getting along, but it was by no means an instant, world wide thing. The further you get from Zootopia, the more backwards people are. Judy's parents and Gideon are about 211 miles from Zootopia, imagine how long it took the rest of the world to get with the peaceful program. Imagine what's on the other side of the world.

Deepest lore.
>>81263916
>Would they really need them if they were evolved to be bipedal and intelligent?
Yes and no. The whiskers do help with tracking prey and judging spaces they can fit through, but they're also required for their equilibrium and orientation, so I guess a Zootopia without whiskers would be like a human with an inner ear fluid issue.
Course, that then leads to the question; does this mean Nick should have trouble keeping balance and walking straight lines without whiskers, or does the counterbalance of his tail regulate that?
I'll just file it away into "it's not worth worrying about, just watch the film".
