God help her she's as clueless as Kirbee, maybe even moreso.
No wonder she was taking it so well.
Oh god, this is going to be fucked up.

You can always count on Holly.

She's just like Kirbee
>>81083244
Except Kirbee survived.
>>81083152
You know what? I think she was actually planning on eating Holly and now she is trying to play it off like she wasn't really going to do it.
I mean, how could she not connect the dots, she bought those things.

Value for money, right guys?
>>81083152
Buddybombs would be a legal nightmare
who is at fault when one goes off? Where is the record of what threat it identified?
Every thread, I keep seing people talking about things being blown up.
I think you're forgetting the entire first arc and a handy little weaponized thing we saw the origins of.
Amesworth.
>>81083263
Speaking of, shouldn't they be here providing some commentary or has Aaron realized they are completely superfluous to this part of the chapter?

>>81083431
not until they go off next monday
>>81083349
That many going off is going to do more than just scorch the carpet.
>>81083375
Well, they are called buddi-bombs-
I suppose the twist would be if they shot zero energy which would be neat from a warfare perspective, a miniature robot that followed soldiers and fired on nearby threats.
There is some validity to your implication, if that many BBs went off I doubt Holly would have survived at that range. But this is APEX so whatever is about to happen is going to be nasty.
well I think we all know where this is going
and as a design aspect for a personal defense grenade, it makes some sense that it approaches and latches onto the target before exploding, probably uses shaped charges to keep collateral to a minimum
>>81083290
>You know what? I think she was actually planning on eating Holly and now she is trying to play it off like she wasn't really going to do it.
she said she didn't want to eat her before the buddibombs showed up, so no.
>>81083152
Which is going to be the worse realization: that the bombs are going after her, or that Holly isn't going to do anything to help?
>>81083221
Ethel said herself, you can't be too careful these days.
>>81083585

>>81083607

I'm still half asleep.
>>81083508
That reminds me of old FPSes where you had weapons that latched nades to people. They would run around screaming for a bit before finally exploding in a gory mess.
Ethel doesn't deserve any of this.
>>81083669
>they actually get attached to her head
>they drill all her grey matter

>ib4 cerebral bore
>>81083719

>>81083585
Probably hasn't quite dawned on her just yet.
This arc is really doing wonders at improving people's opinions on Holly.
>>81083861
Oh, I still think she's an irrational bitch. I'm more rooting for everyone else in this scenario.
>>81083861
All I feel for Holly is pity.
>>81083603
I mean, Holly could snap out of it and help Ethel, right? It's not... completely impossible.Or Sarah could dive through the window and carry Ethel to safety.
>>81083923
>Or Sarah could dive through the window and carry Ethel to safety.
this is a more probably outcome.
>>81083861
That's the sole purpose of these flashbacks!
>>81083923
You are asking someone who has just been confronted with a giant, talking snake to just accept everything the snake tells them at face value?
Holly isn't exactly behaving abnormally in this situation. Shit's freaky. Some people lose their shit if they see a mouse.
>>81083942
>probably
>probable*
I've never wanted a character to beat death as hard as this before.
Holly, at least tell her to run!
>>81084009

>>81084038
>Looks sadly at Anon.
Sure, buddy. Sure. Just keep telling yourself that...
>>81084038
This isn't about Holly anymore.
>>81083972
I'm not saying she's necessarily doing something wrong.
Only that there's still a chance for her to do something right.
>>81084128
>Holly flashback
>not about Holly
>>81083152
How can anyone be do clueless about approaching death?
>>81084038
I rather doubt we're seeing all this to redeem her. The dittos didn't put on a show for Sparkplug to help him accept his past, they were just tormenting him with it.
And this is looking much the same, only with the added bonus of potentially poisoning Wally against her by letting him watch too.
>>81084137
She's Holly, of course she won't do something right!
>>81083557
>She said she wasn't going to eat her once Holly went full defensive kicking and screaming.

>can't be triggered unless the threat is real
was...was Ethel really going to attack Holly?
maybe as a reflex.
>>81085416
apex is eliminating every mutie, hostile or not
ethel is going to be red mist in a minute
>>81085416
Apex probably had the things flag any mutant dna as a threat, knowing more about the lovacraftian beasts than the cartoon furries the radiation makes. Not that they'd care about the difference
>>81083822
So what's the problem, besides your reading comprehension?
>>81085416
They see altered humans as a threat by default. Precursor to topsider mindset. They probably have gone off on cancer patients, but THOSE were just freak accidents.
>>81084043
And lose the baby from her injuries before she wakes up. That's been my theory since the baby shower.
>>81085416
>large snake advancing toward a vulnerable human
You don't have to know she's a mutated human to consider that a threat.
Not that Apex wouldn't have included a feature, it's just redundant in this case.
>>81085416
APEX bombs going after mutated humans might imply that they have their hand it the pot that made the virus/infection
>>81084562
heartly kek
>>81085817
I think they scanned her. They don't know the situation. Holly is behind thier bag. They can't see her. All they know is "There's a mutant, mutants are bad. Get close, go boom."
>>81084137
>Holly
>doing something right
Nice meme.
Ethel's fucked.
>>81086027
If they can sequence something's DNA remotely and through a bag, I'm sure they have enough sensory input to establish the presence of a snake. They do have to be able to work on non-mutant threats too, remember, and that's a much more complicated task to establish.
>>81086412
Dude, think about the world they're in and the current situation. Buddibombs are "antiterrorist" (terrorist being propaganda speak for mutants) devices. Nobody's programming them for human or animal attacks. There ARE none. Their purpose is to eliminate either the lovecraftian horror, or somewhat attractive talking animal in the vicinity. They indiscriminately target mutants, period.
>>81086575
See you in the next life, Ethel.and fetus
>>81086575
>somewhat attractive
degenerates need to leave
>>81086641
I'm not sure how to interpret this. Do you mean that finding them only somewhat attractive is degenerate or finding then attractive at all is degenerate?

>>81086575
>Nobody's programming them for human or animal attacks. There ARE none.
That's just ridiculous. Crime didn't suddenly stop existing. For the moment at least, life is still mostly continuing as normal. There's simply no way they could have become such a widespread, top-selling product without a single person ever actually testing or using one.
>>81086575
>somewhat attractive talking animal
>>81086959
We ahpuld ask Aaron as to the purpose of buddibomb. Makes no damn sense to sell them for use against humans when GUNS ARE STILL A THING.

>>81087824

>>81087752
>Self Defense
>Designed to seek out mutants
>Send telemetry data back to Apex for study
>Available only to elites
>>81087752
Guns can miss, whereas buddibombs can chase and latch on.
The splash damage does seem like a major drawback. Though I suppose they could just not detonate until they know you're clear, while restraining the target for you.
>>81088071
what if the threat grabs a hostage?
>>81085573
You're not thinking nearly Endtown enough.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mouse#Reproduction
>Cannibalism is uncommon, but females should not be disturbed during parturition and for at least 2 days postpartum.
>>81088071
I'm thinking Apex already has an idea of the mutations being contagious, so their solution is to have the bomb kill both the mutant and any infected individuals in the area.
>>81087928
I'm not sure we need to quiz Aaron over every little thing instead of just letting him reveal it in the comic.
We're going to see how they work on Ethel one or another soon enough.
>>81085416
Yes.Unbeknownst to everyone Ethel was an elite assassin for APEX and was retired to the cozy sky-suburb. With a mild mannered husband far detached from politics of Hillside she was hoping for a quiet, violent free life. She was really going to kill Holly but only because the transformation strained her mind until her natural killer instincts took over. She used to be known as Ethel "The Biter" Balboa.
>>81088108
Collateral damage.
>>81088247
Search your heart. Holly going almost-full Schism right after mutation, eating her baby, and then wandering feral and being found and brought to Endtown makes perfect sense given her strange issues so far. She's repressing something big, she bit JimGod's fingers off, and she's just a little too fixated on a bunch of things as a way to not think about the gaping black hole in her memory.
>>81089056
It makes sense and that's exactly why I don't like it.;_;
>>81083972
> giant
She seems like a normal snake for me.
>>81088499
This screams of parodying 80s action movies, but I'm honestly wondering if this is actually the case.
>>81083152
I just realized; how did she call her on the phone when she's a snake?
>>81089343
She knocked it on the floor and dialed with her nose?
>>81089589
she could have used the tip of her tail.
>>81089612
I'm not sure she's aware she has one since she remains oblivious to the fact she's a snake.
>>81089646
I think that she knows and is just being optimistic about turning back. There's no way you don't notice your limbs are gone after having to dial on a phone. And snakes can look down and see their bodies. There is absolutely NO WAY se doesn't know she's a snake right now.
>>81089343
Really anon?
>>81089777
She is probably in denial.
>>81083152

>>81090783

it's been 7 strips with no kirbee in sight... i think im gonna start suffering from kirbee withdrawal
>>81090872
Holly can only kill so many people at once. Kirbee will get her turn, don't worry.
The first thing Linda noticed was different post-mutation were her hands, so what is Ethel's deal?
Granted, Linda knew she was mutating when she was knocked out.
>>81083152
So poor Ethel is about to get vaporized. And she's too naive to know that she's the target they see as a threat.
>rip in peace Snake waifu
>>81083467
Seeing it's an APEX weapon, it will probably use Amesworth Radiation. So they will latch onto their target and "detonate", leaving the carpet intact aside from the neat pile of dust that used to be Ethel.
Holly will almost surely pass out, and as others pointed probably wake up a mouse.
>>81090017
That's not how her phone looks.
>>81091443
Aaron has already said the those things are basically walking, self-detonating landmines.
We know that Holly has had someone special to her abandon her at some point
it's probably Lyn
>>81091531
That's far from "safe" as APEX advertised them. A landmine detonating in a closed environment like a living room? After the first accident with collateral damage sales would plummet.
>>81083152
I've got this dreadful feeling we're in for some major-fucked-up-ness with these buddibombs

>>81091601
Cigarettes used to be marketed as healthy. Go figure.
And as people keep saying, their main purpose might be killing off mutants so they probably expected you to be running already from one of those horrors while it explodes.
>>81091041
>>81090105
Ethel doesn't know there any such thing as actual mutations. She's heard about MONSTER RUMOURS, which she and the others wrote off as terrorist propaganda. And she's clearly turned into a snake, not a monster.
I think you people take for granted that these people live in gated communities. They can both afford to be, and most likely are, ignorant. Ethel probably assumes that since whatever is wrong could hit her, Ethel, a high class woman, it has to be something that can be fixed. If anything, she seems more ashamed of the situation than anything, trying to get through with Holly's docdad instead of having to deal with other people, though I'm not sure wether this means she holds Holly in low or high regard.
>>81091658vivisection scene
>>81083152

>>81092142
It's possible to buy someone a gift without precisely knowing how it works. All she needed to know was that they're the best thing for personal safety right now.
The marketing most likely plays down the lethality and neglects to mention the massive collateral damage issue. It's not technically a lie to say they only "incapacitate your adversaries" when they actually explode killing indiscriminately in a 20 foot radius. You have to admit, a landmine to the face is pretty incapacitating.
so I have a question about buddy bombs. why you say landmines do you mean the normal one that only blows off a limb and are made more for disabling someone then flat out killing them, or do you mean something closer to a anti-tank mine?
>>81088149
That's BEYOND Endtown, dude. Makes more sense for HGolly to lose the kid to the same thing that ko's her: Ka-BOOM
>>81097504
aaron mentioned they have the explosive capabilities of an anti personnel mine
>>81097504
I think it's mostly speculation at this point. Since they're intelligent, a variable charge would make the most sense, so it could tailor the blast to the situation. That way they could be both small enough to take out a mugger and leave you unharmed, or big enough to take out one of the huge mutants and leave no witnesses.

plus anti personal mines can have effective ranges that vary wildly. the German S mine "bouncing betty" had a lethal range of 66 ft and could inflict injury out to 360ft.
By contrast the american M14 anti personal mine only has one ounce of explosives that's just enough to damage one soldiers leg below the knee.
isn't war fun?

>>81111704He got possessed by an entity named "I". In the dream, Wally spoke with I-forgot-his-name holding an Eye after asking if he just spoke with God. To be more blunt, he became a vessel for I once his mind snapped, he didn't turn into a god.
Go back to when he speaks, notice how he calls himself a God and says I here and there, especially before he burns to death where he screams "I am one! I am I!". Jim's not referring to himself, he's no longer there. That's I referring to himself. Couple of other things to notice too, like how the chandelier looks somewhat like an eye before it comes crashing down.

>chandelier looks like an eye
People were theorizing about that since the circled dot is apparently a symbol for the Sun, and if you include the rafters behind it it looks somewhat like a symbol for chaos.
>>81112105
The ballon was "I" or "Eye"
>>81112127
That was Jim, as he had served his purpose and his body was about to be destroyedEyeleft and that was Jim's last cry before finally dying for good.
>>81112105
Yes. A lot is up to interpretation in the dream sequence, but what was somewhat agreed (if I can remember correctly, it's been a while) upon was that the eye balloon represents "I", the "all paths lead here" means that this is death/spirit realm type deal, and the line "someone is stealing shoes" could refer to soles, or souls. Also note the line " the veil is thin" line that's repeated here. If our guesses are right, I, or someone else we don't know, is stealing souls, and I is capable of going into the realm of the living and possibly into other universes due to the thin veil.

Any word on Marx being anything beyond "fuck you, I do what I want" yet?
Or is he forever to remain a plot heavy character but with no explanation on his powers?

Pretty much the latter. He's appeared in Aaron's other works, and he'll be making more appearances later on with more backstory.

Lynn is just being pigheaded. He seems like one of those people that is altruistic to a fault and might neglect personal issues for it. At worst he could be a high minded hypocrit, kicking himself over decisions he made as if he was so important that his decision would have changed the world. He wasn't being an ass about having buddibombs in the house, not for the danger aspect but for it being a decision they made together.
Lynn and Wally are probably alot more alike than not, hence why Holly picked up Wally so quickly.
She's not guilty for killing Ethel though, there are alot of factors way beyond her knowledge here.

Ignorance is not a defense. I'm not saying she's flat-out murdering her, but she's definitely culpable.

>>81117193
Post apocalyptic scifi stuff and sure.
Most people start at the beginning and end up binging it. It has some good characters and stories.
There is a review of it on YouTube but it's afew years old.
>>81117193
A comic set in post-apocalyptic world overrun by a mutagen that turns conscious humans into monstrous feral abominations, and unconscious/sleeping ones into anthropomorphic animals, mutants. Remaining unchanged humans (who have to wear biohazard suits all the time) have organized themselves into a borderline fascist order determined to purge the world of the mutants, which live in underground shelters. They believe it will not only make way for new, genetically pure humanity, but that by killing mutants they also destroy the mutagen (it's false, as upon the mutant's death the mutagen just goes back into the surrounding air/atmosphere). The story focuses on several mutants who come from one of the underground shelters called Endtown.

the good and the bad.
Despite everything, she became a
better person after she mutated, but even
Doc warned her (and Wally) that she was living in a fantasy world.
>>81117941
It's worryingly hard to tell. I don't think we've seen a single instance of pre-mutation Holly being nice to anyone (and we haven't even reached the really traumatic stuff yet), while post-milktrial Holly certainly hasn't been endearing.
Which leaves a middle bit where she may well have tried to reinvent herself, only for it to all come crashing down.

"My casserole, VI-O-LATED!
I was under the impression the whole Clive thing was to show Holly's personality reacting against itself: to demonstrate how the Holly who tries to save EVERYBODY could not exist with rational Holly who knows it is wiser to dump the head and be done with it.
She is regarded as a naive and innocent person by Doc, Cooper and Maude, presumably others as well as she was well known in Endtown. She went though hell during the Milk Trial and subsequently felt she had "lost" that innocence. She struggles to compensate by attempting to take charge of her situation, ordering Wally to Albion West and attempting to make solid decisions.
It all falls to pieces as the completeness of the worlds devastation dawns on her, particularly when Clive reminds her she is just a mouse now. Forced to reconcile with her own past, she begins to get more and more distraught as the lizards mistreat her and her friends, revealing the depths of depravity the people have resorted to in order to survive. She finally snaps when Kirbee shows up and presumably reminds her of the innocence she perceives to have lost. The Holly we have now is on the fence between the personality she created to escape the pain of having to acknowledged the end of all she knew before mutating, and the Holly she was before. The flashback is meant to give us perspective on this.
So Holly is far from evil. Holly is just broken and held together by shards of her past, the last of which are about to be addressed in the coming comics.

Endtown is a sci fi webcomic that uses anthros as characters. This is because an arms race in a future dystopia unleashed a virus that mutates humans through a process that may or may not include magic.
While it includes anthros it's not a furry comic - it takes no elements from it aka it's good. If you are not memeing and you are really new, you'll find it somewhat original.

Given the world she lives in, you either die, go nuts, or buck up and maybe go crazy too anyways
>>81156261
i just want holly to get her shit together so i can fap to her again...
>>81156261she's cuter than kirbee by a fucking mileage
>>81156210
>Holly kills a harmless creature half her size
>again
>>81156343
still not as pretty as..jim..
>>81156261
Re-read the sequence where she falls apart from the beginning, to see what the fuss is about.
Its actually pretty depressing. From Holys standpoint, Wally seems like hes abandoning her for one of the lizards who only days ago locked her in a pet mover and tried to poison her
>>81156569
>Its actually pretty depressing. From Holys standpoint, Wally seems like hes abandoning her for one of the lizards who only days ago locked her in a pet mover and tried to poison her
he breakdown is not related to that, she has absolutely no idea about the kiss or wally's feelings towards kirbee, Aaron himself confirmed this, if anything holly was the one pushing him towards her.
>>81156685
She can clearly see and hear them, anon
>>81151316
I think it's indicative of Holly's modus operandi: I want this dead!!!...Wally, YOU kill it!!
>>81156685
>wally's feelings towards kirbee
Can confirm it is almost entierly the other way around.
>>81156770
they feel for each other, dont deny it.
>>81156721
>they agree on stuff
>she's gonna take him away from me!
>i better do something to impress him quick!
The only reason holly is jealous is because kirbee has kept her cool and has proven to be a more useful party member so far, proving her wrong.
>>81156833
Of course they do. But you are forgetting what that entails.
>>81156929
yeah, i not sure if i want wally to ruin kirbee's ass...
>>81156884
You seem really angry about Holly for some reason
>>81156929
Every single girl who has come into contact with wally has suffered for it. >>81126203
Three are dead, he indirectly killed two of them.
>>81156884
You ever hear of a manic episode? You don't need to be bipolar to have one. They can happen to anyone who has gone through enough shit. Holy is mentally ill right now and needs help. This whole flash back is trying to show us that, plus some solid world building with the rise of the disease.
It sucks having a character go all neurotic like this, but I have trust in the writer to being holy back around and redeem her.
>>81156974
i'm bitter, i really loved holly but this arc made me hater her a bit, i just want her to get better, however she wont until she gets back to endtown.
>>81157022
>Every single girl who has come into contact with wally has suffered for it.
>Three are dead, he indirectly killed two of them.
given how kirbee risked her life jumping from a building just because wally told her to, i'm more that sure she would be willing to risk it.
>>81157148
That just means she's been lucky so far!
>>81156729
>IF YOU LOVE ME YOU WILL KILL IT!

PLANS RUINED
Notice how Gustine remains generally happy, healthy and alive because she has never come into contact with Wally.
Kirbee has made physical contact.
>>81161855
>>Allie
>DEAD
Why does it never stop hurting?
>>81161855
>>Linda
>LIFE RUINED
Well to be fair she didn't have too much going.
>>81156210
Aaron loves the cheek blush.
>>81160512
You'd be surprised how often that works.
>>81154912
> Implying I would've been a crab.
Maybe my friend Lucid Dakou would be.
>>81161855
Even worse, Kirbee goes out of her way to stick her (long) neck out for people. It's a disaster waiting to happen.
Better to stick with Holly since she's already ruined.
>>81156884
I know people like that.
All too well. The kind that are quick to judge people as beneath them and are quick to take personal offense if you don't agree with them and try to belittle you every time you state an opinion or say something "wrong", down to making large, sweeping accusations.
Funny how often they project their faults on other people.
>>81161972
She had a son though.
>>81162354
You're right, you'd bean ass

>>81134218

>People had fun
That was my primary goal for this project!
The other primary goal was to give Endtown an RPG system. Anything cool has an RPG!
>>81161855
>Sarah
>PLANS RUINED
She had to climb so many cocks to get there, too!
>>81149481
Post more faggot.
>>81161855
Pretty much all of those deserved it though. Maybe not the teacher.
>>81149481
Pages like these show that Entowners had grown complacent and forgot about the apocalypse even before the Milk Trial.
>>81164980
During Milk Trial it's even more evident.
>>81164980
what DID she eat while she was with the topsiders?
>>81165652
Baby food pumped into your suit via a tube, maybe?
>>81164980
>>81165010
All the surviving societies that we've seen have been dysfunctional in one way or another.
>>81165825
Gerber is delicious. Probably recycled waste, anything else is contaminated..
>>81164980
man, maude is cute!
>>81164980
also, i just realized linda is actually sitting on some books. never noticed that before.
>>81166591
Undeniably best actual waifu in the story.
Well we made it through the weekend. Are you ready for monday'sexplosiveupdate?
>>81092724
>demonic possession
Wait i don't remember that
so when does wally die, and how? the next protagonist switch is long overdue, after all.
>>81167394
he's not a real protagonist though... but don't worry, well head back to endtown next arc and we wont see wally holly and kirbee for a while.
>>81166715
It's a bit oblique but it's been confirmed by Aaron.
>>81164980>You will never suck maude's tits dry...
fuck this gay earth...
>>81166698
Carlos I swear to God...
>>81165652
Okra. Ice cold okra dripping with okra snot.
>>81165010
>I'm sorry. I... Are you trying to look smug or is it the swelling?
>It's the swelling. I'm actually trying to look said and cry.
>>81168808
Don't cows have to be pregnant to produce milk or am I mistaken?
>>81165010
"I eat Holly's ass every other night. Cheese isn't that big a deal."
>>81170821
actually they produce more milk after they give birth for around 80 days, when their milk production starts to dwindle, they are bred again.
>>81171185
>implying holly ass wouldn't taste delicious.
>>81165652
recycled shit...that still pretty much looked and smelled like shit.
>>81171272
Exactly!
>>81171185
>>81171272
>>81171345
now i want to see wally french kissing holly... dammit.
>>81116785
Well yeah, if you're raising your python right than it absolutely shouldn't have the opportunity to measure you and consider eating you. Most snake owners wouldn't find themselves in that situation. But there are some dumb people out there.
>>81161855
>Kirbee has made physical contact.
And HOW!
>>81171412
>opportunity
It's not about opportunity or training or anything like that
Snakes are stupid animals and they wouldn't hesitate to try to eat something bigger than they could actually fit inside their stomach - hell, some snakes even start eating themselves if part of their tail is near the end of whatever they just ate.
The only condition is that it smells or tastes like food. And when they can smell food, it's immediately noticeable from their body language that they think it's food. You NEVER see a similar sort of reaction when they're with humans.
>>81164229
just check trash, most of her smut is on there.
>>81171274
>>81171241
Still, that'd mean Maude would've pregnant during some time for her to produce milk. I'm pretty sure she didn't mention any children.
Maybe it's the traits people expect to be associated with animals thing that Aaron mentioned in the e-mails, like Holly eating cheese now because she turned into a mouse when before she was lactose intolerant. Maude thinks cows just produce milk constantly, and once she mutated she started producing milk constantly as well.
Might be looking a bit deep here with Maude producing milk, but I know that the lactose intolerance disappearing is gonna get more info later on.
>>81133470
Why would she need to? They can't sense her since they're not really there. It's just a replay of events. They better get out of the apartment, though, cuz it's like being in a holodeck novel: the actors can't see or hear you, but the safety is off, so you can get pwned by stuff like explosions and cars.
>>81171412
>Well yeah, if you're raising your python right
Kirbee gives Wally's a little kiss every chance she gets, so it's really well behaved.
>>81171688
It would be in Kirbee's nature to try and save someone, even in the ditto construct.
>>81171896
funny, it's not entirely impossible... it wont help though, it might only get her hurt, orkilled
>>81171859
har har penis joke very funny
>>81171565
>Maybe it's the traits people expect to be associated with animals thing
pretty sure it's exactly this, because I HAVE seen an angry koala.
>>81173597
Maybe the mutagen was made by someone who had it custom tailored with these false traits, and the person's perspective of the animal they mutate into doesn't matter at all.
Chic was a born mutant, he wouldn't know anything about how chickens or baby chickens operate.
>>81161855
