I wanted this movie to be good more than anyone here, but I'm pretty sure it sucks.
Suicide Watch Squad will save DCEU though.
>>
WB wrote off 55% cuz good money, hell if they wont write off 35% becuz even gooder money

just league is not being changed.

zack NEEDS to listen to editing and pacing criticisms tho, thats how you offend critics and your shit drops 20% if your shit is incoherent. also please let ben rewrite some dialogue

this cements to me that Man of Steel 2 is never happening though. if i was WB push the hell out of Wonder Woman and play up the reviews calling her good and for the love of god write Affleck a Robet Downy Jr sized check to fasttrack The Batman

that's exactly what they don't want to do; the reviews are often focusing on the threat of another bloated, loveless effects bonanza to come, or on a whole raft of movies that are just as unholy bad as BvS

they need to be low key unless they absolutely can show something this year to prove this isn't all they've got, and they definitely don't want to push JL next year

this is the cinematic equivalent of coercing someone into sex and telling them your buddies are coming over later

All it needs is $800
If divisive Superman can pull $677
Then why not can divisive Batman pull $800?
>>
Saw it Monday, I liked it. But if it doesn't make bank, the only announcements they will be making at sdcc is who the new director of Justice League is
>>
>>81032906
Because divisive Batman doesn't make money.

1989 Batman? Almost $800m by today's standards, budget equivalent to Deadpool's. Universally praised as a worthy change from the Adam West show.

1992 Batman? Divisive. Half the gross. Double times the budget. So bad they changed directors almost immediately.

1995 Batman? Not as hot as 1989 but still loved. Worthy successor, WB is back on track, money flowing in.

1997 Batman? Eat shit.

2005 Batman? Pretty much the same gross as 1992, but with an even higher budget. Catwoman failed and Superman Returns failed and so the crossover wasn't going to happen and instead they went with another Nolan.

2008 Batman? Heat Death Legend. Instant Oscar, billion dorra gross.

2012 Batman? Domestic down, propped up by global grosses rising significantly, still 3% down on where 2008 ended. Very bad reviews but seen as a more comical, rite of passage thing by a lot of audiences - a social necessity after the last movie.

>>81032976
Not even that. The tv side is doing fairly well, I guess they'd just push that as hard as they can instead. TV shows can make a lot of money for studios.

Bay movies are intentionally made to be stupid kind of entertaining. You can turn off your brain and watch the explosions, and you don't need to feel guilty about not understanding the plot because you know it's stupid.
In game design this is called "submission".

Here, BvS is WAAAY too long for this, drags bunch of pointless shit and pseudophilosophy and backstory, and worst of all - action scenes and CGI aren't even that good.

It's an "aesthetic" of play. As in, a particular need filled by playing the game - in this case, "submission" means ability to relax without effort.
>>
>>81034188
This is what they planned as soon as they saw the reception to MoS.

Suicide Squad is what we're really getting.

People didn't hate it, they just thought it was trash.

>>81033923
Transformers has never had a bad gross. Batman most certainly has, Superman's have been even worse.

>>81033824
What do you even think you mean by this?

Are you referring to the tendency for higher grosses?

You do remember WB had several big budget flops last year, right? They weren't the only ones.

Rising record grosses don't equate to "impossible to fail". In any case this movie has to make at minimum $800m just for everybody involved to keep their jobs.

The Dark Knight Rises was crowned by Forbes as the best modern comic book superhero adaption on screen, outranking both its main summer blockbuster competitor, Marvel's The Avengers, and the trilogy's previous installment The Dark Knight.

The Telegraph granted the film a maximum score of five stars, stating that it is "a superhero film without a superhero," comparing it with The Godfather Part II and praising Hardy's performance as well as the film's intricate plot and narrative.

The Los Angeles Times thought the film was "potent, persuasive and hypnotic" and that it was "more than an exceptional superhero movie, it is masterful filmmaking by any standard."

In that PDf you linked me to, it states submission is more of a form of pastime, IE, as a hobby for enjoyment rather than the challenge or narrative or other "aesthetics" one would list it as. Using gaming as an analogy doesn't work because the values are completely skewed. A game can be enjoyed by submission without regard to the level intelligence required for it, since skill level comes into play, and a hard game for one could be an easy activity of enjoyment for another.

With film, there's less leniency, since the viewer is passive.
>>

Yeah I don't have high expectations for the unveiling of future plans. Unless BvS makes serious bank and good WoM, I expect pretty much all development to stop on movies past 2017 while Warner changes their slate to accommodate a director change on JL. No way they'll let Snyder direct JL if the audience reception isn't what they want. He might stay on their creative board since he's been involved in so much of the world planning.

>The only time RT tends to be accurate is when the movie(s) are either received as only positive or only negative. But any movie received as controversial due to it being so game changing you'll see a disparity between both audience and critic reviews and this is largely in part due to the fact that RT pulls its reviews from around the web
No fucking shit you goddamn retard. How do people still not comprehend that RT isn't a fucking ranking out of ten. It's a measurement of the percentage of critics that considered a movie above a 5/10. So of fucking course mid-range scores are going to be more disagreed upon by audiences. Christ, you don't have to agree with them all the time and you don't have to base your opinion entirely on an RT score. It's mainly just a useful tool for judging whether or not to see a movie you're already on the fence about.

Also no fucking shit Rogue Unrated got 100% with 11 reviews. I'm guessing the only critics who bothered to see and review that movie were those 11 people who might enjoy it.

No, those are youtube reviewers. Critics focus on acting, direction, edition, pacing, etc. Youtube reviewers that lack any understanding of film as a medium are the ones obsessed with plot holes...because thats the only thing they could talk about without studing cinema. I mean, you just have to watch the movie to find plot holes.

Protip: most of the all times classics have plot holes.

Imagine Ben doing Under the Red Hood as his first DCEU directed movie.

Speaking of Ben, is it possible that they'll bump up his movie to 2018 and give Supes a movie in 2018/2019? If BvS doesn't do well critically but decent financially, Snyder is probably off JL. Given that it's so close to filming, they'll probably delay it, too.

I wonder what's going to happen with the rumored BoP, Lobo, and Titans movies.
>>
>>81039677
There's absolutely no way they're doing another superman movie. early reviews of the movie say supes is not very entertaining in it. He's forever going to be a side character and not the main focus which is a good thing in my opinion, Also apparently Batman kills people in this movie which pisses me the fuck off more than anything and I wish death upon snyders career. You had 1 fucking job with Batman.
>>
>>81039862
>Supes isn't getting another movie and will forever be a side character
>Batman kills people in this movie
I know there's the whole TDKR and previous Batman movies defense force and all, but that pisses me off so much. I really hope I like the movie tomorrow.
>>
>>81039677

I can almost guarantee you that superman wont get another solo title in this continuity and will largely be in a supporting role outside of the justice league movies, I think a batman in 2018 is pretty realistic if WB puts all its money on the prophet ben afleck but I wonder what they do with flash and aquaman since aquaman is the only one of those two that actually has a bankable director, the flashes director just came off the pride and prejudice zombie flick that bombed
>>

I feel like WB would have hit gold if they kept Phil Lord and Chris Miller on Flash. Miller is still hyped for the role, so I don't have a problem with him. And watching Amber Heard get mimosa'd is going to be fantastic.

I'd actually prefer they kept those two movies for 2018 and bet on them to help helm the franchise along with batman since Superman isn't doing anything and I don't have much confidence in the WW movie
>>
>>81039862
>>81039944

I'm not sure about the 2017 one, he'd already be in pre production for a sequel to fury road if it didn't do so crappy at the box office

JLD would be cool, but I just really want to see Del Toro handling the league
>>
Ok lets discuss how the BvS league members were hinted for a minute:

The file logo thing annoys me but whatever, at least Lex didnt friggin name them. The effects for Barry seemed ok, but I hope this is still rookie, pre suit Barry because getting caught on camera is amateur hour. Also not a fan of the ponytail. Aquaman looked fine and his underwater sonic boom actually looked decent. Cyborg is REALLY bugging me because of the mother box. I know nu52 Cyborg is enhanced by one but the DCEU version is near 100% made from one. But forget that, how in the hell did his father get one? Thats a HUGE red flag all around, because I think one of those is a bigger beacon to the stars than whatever Lex did

but this is what i get to a guy who raped Watchmen and a guy who thinks you're a virgin for wanting your favorite hero to get a movie

maybe just maybe SS can save DC and they can go as planned with Snyder out of the picture, but my hopes are low

He's also a HUGE flirt, and not in the good way. He was supposed to make the Hobbit films, then pulled out to do his little horror experiments, leaving Jackson behind with that mess. I fear he would walk off the set halfway through because he saw something shiny.

Wonder Woman is getting a humongous social media push by WB marketers. A lot of things are claimed to be shills, but this actually is. WB is protecting her and Batman the most for obvious reasons. Man of Steel 2 is never EVER going to happen. Justice League will go forward as long as the opening weekend is $140-150+. Zack will not have final cut of Justice League. The Justice League script since yesterday evening is being picked apart by an assault task force assembled by WB. This sort of thing costs a lot of money to bring these guys in. Tough questions are being asked about the critical structure of that script but for the most part it is dialogue cleanup. Going to plan, there is no way to change the major points of the Justice League script since pre-production, shooting schedules, shot setups are already finished. This is more like a penalty box for Snyder for the bad reviews, but he will direct Justice League if BvS makes money.

Suicide Squad and Wonder Woman will be sheltered as much as possible. The DCEU will proceed as planned.
