What went right?
>>81017338
Everything except the final battle.
>nothing happens
>the movie
Having a clear idea of a beginning, middle, and end and not watering down the plot with extra unnecessary shit.
Great casting.
Emphasis on fun and accessibility, not pretentious.
Contemporary.
Still the best superhero movie ever made.
>good casting
>origin story done right
>humor and action
>motherfucking iron man
>great effects
>superhero that kills
But as >>81017350 says, bad final fight.
>>81017338
It's good but it's a shame that marvel decided to make this a blueprint for their movies.
Every single marvel movie has the exact same structure as Iron Man 1
>>81017338
All of it, still the best cape movie ever made
The most perfect casting choice and director choice imaginable
Also cool fight scenes
>>81017415
Not true. They should have stuck to the structure, all their other films have too much extra shit going on. And they're long as fuck.
All superhero movies have become is forced drama and an orgy of CGI for 3 hours.
>>81017338
Everything I guess
>>81017415
I... Don't think that's true.
But even if it is, they're still all entertaining and make money hand over fist.
>>81017338
Likeable protagonists
Good director
Cohesive plot
Good characterizations
>>81017338
Making a literally who character into one of the most popular super heroes.
No one who wasn't into marvel even knew who Iron mad was before this movie.
>>81017338
it this the comfiest movie ever?
>>81017338
they picked great actors who really made this movie work since they didn't really have a proper script to work with.
>>81017498
>likable protagonist
I still don't get why he made it a suit and not a remote controlled robot, like they teased in IM3.
He can make a killer suit which is 90% air, think of the bullshit he could pull if it was one slid block of death.
>>81017415
No, all follow the Hero's Journey
But beyond the hyperbole, all Marvel movies are unique in the important elements to be entertaining: Character interactions/dynamics, action setpieces, visual cues, etc. And on top of that they have relatable characters.
>>81017415
Maybe the origin movies do but that's because that's how pretty much any origin movie would play out.
>>81017350
>>81017408
I think the final fight is a decent retread of all the abilities Tony's used in the movie so far, it just has a rushed anti-climactic ending and those constant gags about power output that start to detract from the action, Cuts the tension in half when Jarvis says 1% power, emergency power, backup emergency power... just keep it numerical. Iron Man's real problem which the final fight reflects is the rushed third act where they throw away Stane in the original movie rather than keeping him as a recurring villain. The way he suddenly drops fifty IQ points is also pretty jarring.
CGI tech porn.
The armors make meiron hard
>>81017338
A tight script (up until the third act), tight direction, an above average supporting cast, what were for the time pretty excellent special effects and reintroducing the world to Robert Downey Jr. when it thought it didn't want him back.
>>81017338
the first half
2nd half was a disaster
>>81017350
it was fine.
>>81017572
The suit was there as a means of escape. He makes a drone, he's still just as vulnerable to a stray bullet as he is without.
"Tell you what. Throw a little hotrod red in there."
A bold choice to make the suit faithful instead of a black/silver 'realistic' look. It set the tone for the rest of the MCU.
>>81017338
Manlet Jew Main Actor = good shills
>>81019730
This.
+ it was the definition of a fun movie. It had AC/DC in the soundtrack for gods sake.
And having only seen Jeff Bridges in The Big Lebowski at the time, it was fun to see him play a villain.
Some of the sets were pretty good too.

I always found it funny that Capitalism; The Superhero had commie colours.
Daily reminder that without RDJ and based as fuck Favreau who fought Marvel to get him cast, the MCU would never exist.
