How was the venture family able to be in two places at once in that episode?
>>
>>80976677
I love that Hank and Dean decided wear their old clothes this episode.
>>
Are people still moaning about Gary being squeamish on killing? Because it's pretty easy to tell that he was just iffy on killing fellow villains/henches. It might have been his idea, but he clearly meant for MONARCH to do the deed since he knows his boss is ice cold enough to off people without a fuck given.
>>
good ep but doesn't feel like a season finale
>>
>>80977720
that's because it isn't
>>
>>80977794

It was, though. There's nothing else left for this season.

However, I wouldn't be surprised if they do another special and air before season 7 to act like a finale. Sort of like how the Gargantua-2 special was essentially a finale to season 5, which also had a fairly weak last episode.
>>
Anyone else think the "Saw" stuff was too dark?

Also, I don't like that this is the season finale. None of the plots went anywhere.
>>
>>80977921

Not really. The Butt-eater was just too silly to be all the disturbing, even when he turns to greet Gary, Monarch, and Red Death like his lords and masters. I was laughing my ass off from the second it started, since I knew it was SAW the moment it faded in with the shot on the guy's face.

And I've never even seen a SAW film from beginning to end.

Did anyone else think that when butt eater turned around to looked at the guys and chuckled a bit he sort of gave off a joker-esque vibe?

Anyway I loved every segment with the prisoners. The brain guts at the end was a bit there but the rest wasn't as dark as it could have been.

>>
>>80978099

It's the way Venture Bros handles shock humor. Where something like Family Guy kind of feels like it's rubbing the gory scenes in your face and going, "LOOK AT THIS! Look the detail we animated with this person getting mutilated! LAUGH YOU BITCH!'

VB, meanwhile, does it with a more evenhanded balance between morbid violence and comedy. Think of the season 2 premiere where you have what appear to be Hank and Dean's skinless zombies running around, then learn they're just incomplete clones and that they've died like 20 times in all sorts of ridiculous ways (and one mundane, the gas leak).

She is Triple Threat. Got knocked up by Jonas.
Billy is a Venture Bros
Rusty is a Venture Bros
Monarch is a Venture Bros
Jonas Jr is a Venture Bros
Hank is a Venture Bros
Dean is a Venture Bros
Dermott is a Venture Bros

The final scene of the series should be all of them together going "Go Team Venture!" with a ghost Jr joining them in the freeze frame.
>>
>>80978348

Rodney seemed adamant about it being a werewolf. I'm thinking either he was tripping balls (maybe Jonas had given him something that messed up his mind), or it really was a werewolf baby, and the Colonel just didn't see it as a threat despite Action Man's insistence.

I think that that's onto something but not Billy's mother. Some gal crushed on Jonas Venture hard. Only way he'd pay attention to anyone was if they were also an awesome adventurer hence the Blue Morpho and Playboy facade.

Jonahs was into it and the clues I think are as noted Triple Threat. Monarchs penchant for Role-playing. Dr.Z swearing up and down that he fucked a woman. And when Blue Morpho died it really fucked up Jonahs.

Also so far Monarch is just assuming the person he's seeing as his father is his father.

Also also the possibly transgender Sniper at the end? Hard to tell with this show sometimes.

I think he saw a crazy little feral animal man, shot it, and in the usual way, it turned back into a human as it died. But it's human form was a baby.

Then everyone else arrived and saw he had shot a baby, and didn't buy the "But it was a werewolf!" explenation.

Or if they did, they just thought it was funny that he unknowingly shot a baby and teased him about. And knowing what a bunch of crazy assholes they used to be, it's very likely.

Really like how finally someone called Actie Man on his bullshit. I have two theories why.
1. He views Billy's Mom like a little sister (hints also in Gargantua 2) and he thinks Action man is just hitting and quitting.
2. Guilt of all the shit they did to Rusty is finally coming back to him. Especially since that was that one was great unprovoked.

Well said. Sums it all up nicely. Especially since even the title characters were "made to die," and that angle was dropped halfway through the series
>>
>>80976464
I'm not sure Monarch can take Red Death's advice. He's hated Rusty for over 20 years. There was a point when he could've ended it all, but if he's so deep into his grudge that he's willing to strike down his wife to get a better shot at his nemesis, I think Rusty dying for real would destroy him.
>>
>>80985289
I think being chained in a basement is more generic serial killer stuff and to someone who hasn't seen saw I wasn't bothered
but even if you haven't seen taken the joke was driven into the ground for the entire american people long ago with that specific monolouge. Still funny, but odd that they'd do such an overdone joke
>>

I think he can. He gave up on using a torture on Rusty who had been threatened to act like he was afraid in the season 5 finale. And he seemed genuinely interested to find an outlet for his hate when Red Death was dropping the Papa bear advice.

I'm thinking he may realize that once he's able to arch Rusty again, he'll want to expand his boundaries and arch others just so he's not stagnating over ONE man for however much longer he lives.

My favorite part of the entire season is that Red Death is actually rooting for Monarch to end Dr. Venture as brutally as possible.

10/10 episode. Maybe not a great season finale but it was too good overall to let me down. I think I laughed the hardest when the bang sign from the toy grenade went through kid Rusty.
>>
>>81002953
Yeah. I liked the reveal that he was the one keeping them in the room, for most of the episode I thought it was going to be Red Death doing it, to show why everyone was so terrified of him. It wasn't until we find out that they were both villains that I started questioning it.

The monarch fapping to hentai?

Can't say it surprises me.
He's always been a fan of overly dramatic scenes and speeches, and check the bishounen bad boy look he had back in college and that keikaku doori scene.

I really liked the Dinner between Rusty and the old Team Venture members, it was fun to see him interacting with them in a friendly fashion. Them swapping stories about all the fucked-up shit that went on back then was pretty great.

Now think of that scene, with Rusty willingly sacrificing himself and then mocked over his venture hero complex and think of the clones he made of his kids.
>>
So is The Monarch just going to ignore the Guild completely and instead of killing off other villains he'll just go straight for killing Rusty Venture no matter what?
>>
Oh and another couple of bonuses this episode gave us.
An explanation for Ward and Watch's googles that kind of makes sense, for standard guild members at least.

And a classic impossibly cool Samson action scene at the pool, dodging beams and jumping to intercept Red Death.
>>
>>81002992
For me it was seeing Watch and Ward doing the whole "go team Venture" thing that made me lose it the most.
>>

I recall a hentai with a chick giving birth to some caterpillar/butterfly woman, if that counts.
>>
>>80978413
I took it to mean they both knew the baby was a werewolf, but Col. Gentleman was just acting like it was a real baby so he could tease the Action Man about it.
>>

>>
>>81004647
I think that what he has already done is going to interfere with that.

His wife might not figure out who Blue Morpho is before Wide Wale does. And you know he is going to use it against them both to seize the council and get even with the man who murdered a member of his family.

They whole bit of Monarch going from his 'gotta kills this guy' to "THIS MAN IS A TREASURE!" in like 3 seconds just fucking killed me. Quickest way to the Monarchs heart is through his ego. It might be how Rusty gets him off his back once and for all next season.
>>
>>81007267
That doesn't sound like Rusty, even if he's in a charitable mood he'd probably end up backhanding Monarch.
>>
>>81006082
It's a good plot thread they can choose to explore at a later point.
It's fully plausible.
Dermott suspects Rusty is his dad already and now he is a very rich and famous person.
Anything can happen to him during all the off screen time he's had that could lead to him appearing at their door again.

>>81006983
To me the only show that comes close to VG in greatness is Community in its best days.

>>81007267
I assumed that was a mix of the fact that he really is a fucking treasure and everyone falls in love with him + The Monarch being scared as hell of him so badly his ego had to rationalize giving up on trying to kill him as a way out.
>>
>>81007662
Red Death was built up like early season 1 Brock. Everybody knew he was a badass and was taken in by his aura of badass.

Red Death is not exactly evil Brock, but I think the similarity was there in terms of how they handled his rep.

he arches once a year and is a family man. I think he's just happy paying his dues and being a part of his families life the other 364 days

What I wonder if he has any beef with Stars & Garters since his backstory revealed that he has a hatred for super soldiers and the scientists who create them.

Nobody would want him to be.
I mean, yes, he has the popularity, charisma, and intimidation factor to be the Sovereign but he's too (crazy thing) sane to be the leader of this nonsense. And I doubt that he wouldn't see that problem on the horizon if he was ever offered that role.
It's all moot though, the new Council is Sovereign free by design. There would have to be a bloody coup d'etat to even create that job again.

...Wait, for real?
>>
>>81007755
He didn't seem interested in guilt politics, world affairs or any of that nonsense.

First and foremost, he seems like a reasonable and down to earth family man that also happens to be a red monster full of hate and rage and murderous tendencies.

He seems like the kind of guy who gets into arching because that's just the way he can channel out that aspect of his nature, and he manages to do just that.
>>
>>81007755
Red Death seems to enjoy his privacy.
His arching seems more like he just needs to get out murderous urges. Being Sovereign would just complicate a really good deal with no real benefit to himself. He doesn't want power, he already has prestige, all he wants is to love his wife, raise his daughter and about once a year viciously attempt to murder a willing participant.
>>81008017
Implied, he says his wife died a while back from a stroke in last season's finale.
>>
>>81008014
Now that I think about it, Red Death has been in operation for around 80 or so years IIRC. Would that be before the Guild started running things with a Sovereign?

Fantomas seemed like he started the modern incarnation of the Guild either in the 50's or 60's
>Hunter and Brock were trying to prevent the Guild from taking over the world
>Guild infiltrated the shit out of OSI
>Got arching made legal and standardized
>Villains now allowed to kill and maim legally
>Guild technically won and remapped the face of society

The Venture Bros might be a comedy first, but the DEEPEST LORE is great.

You are right but that can't be helped.
The more time passes, the more we see them getting involved, and more we inevitably learn about the guild, more mundane it will naturally become.

All cool things have a limited lifespan.
At least they have shown awareness of this and don't try to play the guild as this grand thing anymore and they've played it more accordingly to what it has become.
>>

>>
>>81008147
The Lore is actually kind of wonky in that respect.
Do you think OSI knew about the Guild but it was more a higher up kind of thing, and Brock/Hunter got cut out of the need to know basis. Or what? Because according to earlier seasons, Jonas worked out deals with the Guild, even held conferences at the compound but OSI grunts seemed to think they were just cartoon villains when Brock and Hunter were tracking them.
>>
>>81004852
>>81004772

I figured it was actually a werewolf that Action Man shot with a silver bullet, but its death transformed it back into human form before Colonel Gentlemen got to see it was a werebaby.
>>
>>81008286
Red Death seems to have found the sweet spot between arching and family. He treats it kind of like fly fishing. He only goes once a year, does an exemplary job, then gets on with his life.
Also, when the refer to him as "the most professional villain on the guild" I think that means that he stands outside of Guild politics pretty easily. He's there to arch, not grab power from other villains. He's got nothing to gain from becoming a political force within the guild.
>>
>>81008515
Definitely after.
>>
>>81008570
There's a ton of different incarnations of the Guild, pre-, during-, and post-Sovereign (not simply "Bowie" sovereign, but the position instead).

So when Jonas was working with the Guild in the 60-70's, it might have been pre-Sovreign (although when was Force Majore supposed to be in charge?).

The Guild under the last Sovreign seemed to be the one that had gone underground and revamped itself as a competent agency. Or maybe Hunter and Brock were trying to uncover something that they assumed was secret when in reality everybody had literally just forgotten about it. That last one seems the most like the show, wherein a mountain gets created out of a molehill.

>>81008515
I think Hydra has infiltrated Shield at least five times in the entire Marvel canon.
>>
>>81008570
I think most likely it was only the higher echelons of OSI that were aware of the Guild's existence and their agreements with them, and Hunter and Brock stumbled upon the conspiracy without knowing that it was kind of an open conspiracy.
