The graffiti in yesterday's episode was really gorgeous
I've never seen a western animated series fluctuate so much in not just quality but also approach and concept. This show has an identity crisis - it can't decide what it wants to be and never goes through with anything it tries to be. But yet, there's so many good episodes and a sense of variety that it even manages to charm this cynical contrarian shitposter. It's probably the easiest show to conceptualize - just draw some quirky-looking characters in a colorful cartoon world and throw in this loosely-knit mythos that sprawls over entire worlds. I think this show is creative even if not every episode or arc is a winner. It's just in the wrong hands. Rebecca Sugar breathed life into this show for all the wrong reasons, and with how Steven Universe turned out I'm glad she could be given room to do her own thing rather than blatantly try to make someone else's work seem like her own. And I actually liked her episodes. I just don't think they had much of a place in this kind of show.
