Should Superman wear a mask. In fact, why doesn't he?
>>
>>80879464
Because nobody can see through his glasses disguise except for maybe Batgod. Seriously. The glasses just work.
>>
Seems more trustworthy if his face is showing

This should be obvious
>>
>>80879464

For the same reason why people hate it when his costume re-design has a militaristic-looking high collar.

Basically what >>80879512 says
>>
>>80879464
Doesn't want to scare people
>>
>>80879464
That costume is fucking amazing.
>>
Because that would look suspicious and give Lex even more reasons to bitch.

but anon doesnt he want to seem more relatable to the common man? I mean, now he's literally blue collar

It's because he wants people to trust him and know they don't have anything to fear.
>>
He's supposed to inspire people, not scare them.
>>
>>80880256
If you can say one good thing about American Alien, it's the funny bits and the flight helmet. That really fits his character, I gotta say.
>>
>>80879928
Blue collar clothes aren't cut like Superman's Nu52 costume, which invokes a military uniform.
>>
>>80879464
No one cared who he was until he took off the mask.
>>
>>80879464
that wasd a really cool outfit, and i really kind of dug the whole mystery superman thing they had going on there
>>
>>80881280
>mystery superman thing
Same for Supernova
>>
>>80879464

I've always liked the idea that what allowed Clark to live a normal life for so long was because Superman didn't appear to have a secret identity. He never hid his face and everybody knew he lived in the Fortress of Solitude

> BvS cross promotion goes to Dr. Pepper instead of Pepsi
> no Pepsi-Man/DCEU crossover commercials
>>
>>80881910
And his "real name" is public, too: Kal-El.

Clark Kent is like seeing a Pizza Man who looks like Tom Cruise. You write it off as coincidence because Tom Cruise living a double life as a pizza man doesn't seem to make any sense.

Of course, this argument falls apart for characters who are close with both Clark and Superman, like Lois or Jimmy.
>>
>>80881910

That and how different he acts as Clark. I really liked how it was portrayed in All-Star Supes.
>>
>>80879464
>but anon doesnt he want to seem more relatable to the common man? I mean, now he's
He's already got glasses, does he not?
>>
He should wear a cowl.
>>
>>80879464
Wasn't it Billy in that suit though?
>>
>>80879464
Does that look like a "man" to you?

People would assume its a robot or cyborg if someone like that came up to them and started lifting trucks
>>
>>80879464
why would he?
>>
>>80879464
Super Hypnotism subconsciously projected through his glasses, pictures, film footage and newspaper stories to make people not realize he's Superman.
>>
>>80879464
Haven't you watched kill bill ?

Clark kent is his mask
>>
>>80885712
That hasn't been true since 1986.
>>
Shazam
>>
>>80879464
WHY DOESN'T HE WEAR THE MASK?
>>
>>80879928
CARLOS
>>
>>80885466
yeah, it's about the closest he's came to an ongoing in 17 years.

It's a shame they didn't have him replace Superman for atleast a couple of years during Death of Superman.

Anyway, Superman is about trust and part of that is showing your face. A mask is nothing but a barrier.
>>
>>80887715
Wait so why did Superman quit in Futures End? I read every issue but missed it.
>>
>>80887088
not what he asked
>>
>>80881910
>>80882852
I like that explanation too, but it kind of falls apart when you think about all of the crazy speculation and theorising that fans get up to. Like look at us, we come up with some pretty crazy theories to explain inconsistencies in comics and cartoons. You can't tell me that in the DC universe, where to the world at large Superman is just Kal-El from Krypton who lives in the Fortress of Solitude and is a superhero 24/7 that there aren't hundreds of obsessive fans and theorists who've wondered about how he grew up and who raised him, speculated that he may have a secret human identity that he grew up as, and made the connection between Clark Kent and Superman.
>>
>>80887859
It's a real longshot. I don't know what any newspaper reporter looks like. Clark is only a big deal in journalistic circles, even if he is breaking stories. You'd need a fantastic imagination and intimate knowledge of the Daily Planet staff to work it out.
>>
>>80887906
But if you're a big Superman fan, you'd know the reporters who have the most contact with Superman. And no matter how much Clark may try to stay away from reporting on Superman, you'd know Lois Lane, so if you found out that Lois Lane has a co-worker who looks just like Superman you're off at the races.

headcanon is that Superman--along with every other hero--does just enough to not people put two together.
Clark hunches over a bit, clumsy, maybe even has a little southern accent to his speech, glasses that hide the color of his eyes, etc.

Just subtle things that people really won't pay any mind too, but just enough to where you really won't piece it together because of how different they (Superman and Clark) are.
>>
>>80887808
It's been awhile since I read it, but I think Batman tricked him into doing something. I think it was steering the Earth 2 people away from Darkseid. Or maybe it was a Earth 1 vs Earth 2 war.

It was kind of a shitty weekly, they should have dropped the Grifter storyline, the only part I enjoyed was the Superman & Braniac parts, and only sometimes Terry.

I like this suit better
>>
>>80885689
He'd also blur his facial features using his super speed so he couldn't be photographed clearly.
>>
get rid of the helmet, and use that for when he gets into space and this suit is pretty good
>>
>>80879464
You don't read Superman comics... or watch cartons... or have any experience with Superman, do you?
>>
>>80887069
And that's bad.
>>
Heat vision.
>>
>>80879464
Because he's Kal El and tells everyone he's an alien and he has a house in the arctic
Why does he need a secret identity?
>>
>>80890414
I love that Superman/Batman gave us so many good costumes.
