>See Spider-Man renumbered (again)
>See that it's Miles not even Peter
>Oh boy here we go
>Read this page
>OH SHIT

So, I know Miles has been a lackluster character since his introduction but holy shit, this man has got my vote for GOAT.

Not even HE wants to be the "black" Spider-Man. He just wants to be a hero and help people. I can't believe they lampooned Tumblr like this.

Is Miles on his way to redemption?
>>
It is somewhat hypocritical given that Marvel themselves have marketed him in such a manner, but it was good especially since they remembered that Miles is not only just black.

Even Bendis can do something right occasionally I guess.
>>
I love miles
>>
>>80845589
Has Miles been good in the recent Cho-Hulk series?
I read the first issue and he was pretty alright in that
>>
Maybe his whole "I don't want to be 'Black Spider-Man,' I just want to be Spider-Man" speech would make more sense if he were still in the Ultimate universe, but in the post-Secret Wars, ANAD Marvel there are at least 3 Spidermen out there (Peter, Miles and Miguel O'Hara). How is he expected be distinct and stand out when there are 2 other people using the same hero name?
>>
>>80845589
Bendis please, kill this girl or almost change to villain, she really suck how character and return us to Boombshell
>>
>>80845589
It could go either way. It could go the way of him getting others' views to fall in line with his, or his views to fall in line with others. What I think Bendis is ultimately going for is for Miles to learn that he NEEDS to be black Spider-Man for whatever reason, to let mutants in the ghetto know they can be heroes too or something.
>>
>>80846719
And give us Miles/Bombshell, pls.
>>
>>80846511
Well even if that's the case, you can see why he'd be pissed going from "The second/new" spider-man to "the black"spider-man
>>
Miles is bland as white bread. He doesn't have anything other than a skin colour to separate him from the herd of other heroes.

His personality boils down to 'vaguely agreeable'. I don't know what he loves and what he hates, what his insecurities are (other than race apparently), what his ideology is.

He's just a bland ball of inoffensive traits.
>>
>>80846963
Legoes, disappointing people, not living up to standards others impose on him, Not being a bystander out of fear.
>>
I'm fully expecting this story line to continue and end up with Miles being the one in the "wrong", and he realises he HAS to be black spider-man for progressiveness! Shoot me now.
>>
>>80845589
He's going to eventually realize he 'needs to be the black Spider-Man' or whatever and agree with the SJW stereotype character and we can all go back to hating Bendis.
>>
>>80845589

>>80845589
How a character feels at the beginning often changes. Wait for Miles to be arrested for being black, then become a full on BLM activist.
>>
>>80846719
She'll probably just be redeemed and learn the lesson of not turning human beings into mascots
>>
>>80845589
Wait. Black as in his skin or as in the color of his suit?
>>
>>80846719
Bendis confirmed the Danika chick will reappear in the book and Bombshell is in the next issue
>>
You should see the Tumblr outrage about "Miles not appreciating his heritage"

Also, why would people in the Marvel Universe be obsessed with this thing when so many other heroes are black.
>>
>>80850227
>so many other heroes are black
There aren't as many as you seem to think, and even less are PR friendly.
>>

They'll do what they did in Ultimate Spiderman cartoon and call him "Kid Arachnid".

They'll sweeping change it over every piece of media with Miles.

Miguel keeps uses his name and is never rerred to as Spiderman.
>>
>>80846890
>/Bombshell
she is shit since she stopped being a foul mouthed loli
>>
So is there porn of this chick yet?
>>
>>80851994
I would just settle for her dressing like a tramp again.
>>
>>80845589
This is Bendis in full damage control mode. He himself wanted to write a black Spider-Man and was very vocal about this distinction. Both Bendis and Marvel pushed Miles everywhere they could as part of their new social justice agenda.

And suddenly Miles doesn't want to be "Black Spider-Man"? Then my question to Bendis is: Why use the name Spider-Man? And why in the name of god make a black Spider-Man's costume BLACK?

Sure, and he'll be the bestest spidey ever who can even drive off Blackheart
And him being Spidey makes sense even with his original reason for taking up the mantle disappearing in a dead universe

Bland, inoffensive traits.
>>
Yeah, I think this is the leadup to him developing his own hero name. Probably Kid Arachnid judging by the Ultimate Spider-Man cartoon.

As a bonus for Marvel, this means they probably get to relaunch his series yet again for more new #1s.

>>80849740
Skin. In the fight against Blackheart his suit was torn and it was made apparent that the dude under the mask had brown skin. The in-universe SJW vlogger analog made a big deal about how awesome it was for diversity.
>>
>>80852768
>inoffensive traits
You say that like the most popular heroes are known best for having offensive traits.
>>
>>80852870
... How is that even relevant? I mean, it's not like they know if any of the OTHER Spider-Men are black or white or what.
>>
>>80845589
That's... stupid. Like, who thinks like that? You think when Obama came into office he was like, "Man, I wish they didn't see me as a black president, I just want to be a president!"
Seriously?
>>
>>80853170
That's the point, the girl fetishized his skin color as if it wasn't weird
>>
>>80846890
Bombshell is too good for Miles. He needs a nice, boring slut like Kitty Pryde.
>>
>>80853275
Most people do think like that. Their background is who they are but they don't want to be a token.
>>
>>80853333
I'm okay with Mileshell, but I'd rather it be someone that triggers /co/ harder like teen Jean Grey.
>>
>>80853170
in fact.. wasnt there a bit where peter asked if Jameson hated him for being black
>>
>>80853085
A lot of the best heroes /do/ actually have traits that have fallen under the ludicrous scrutiny of the hyper-politically-correct age. Having boobs too big is offensive. Being a white, straight male is offensive, especially if he's Christian. Dressing too sexy is offensive if you're a fictional woman. It's not that you need to be an edgelord to be an offensive character, because now the bar for being "offensive" is pathetically low.
>>
>>80853333
Hooking up with a chaotic girl is just about the only thing that could make him interesting, albeit indirectly.
>>
>>80853391
Here's my rationale. As a hispaniard, if I were to get spider powers in a world already populated by 3 Spider-Men, what I'm definitely NOT going to do is wear a brown spider costume and call myself Spider-Man.
>>
>>80853170
>>80853490
Peter's costume has been damaged so many times that it's clear to the public he's either white, or "white-passing," which might as well be white to these people. They wouldn't care if they found out Miguel's heritage, for instance. They don't care about "white-passing" mixed hispanics.
>>
>>80845589
>only become popular because he was black
>complains that people care about him because he's black
>>
>>80853559
If it means selling comics you will.
>>
>>80853614
At least he's not agreeing with her
>>
>>80845589
If he doesn't want to be "Black Spider-man" then why does he have a *Black* version of the Spider-man costume?
>>

>scrutiny of the hyper-politically-correct age
Oh, okay, I stopped reading there because you're starting the buzzwording and Mark Twain told me not to argue with fools.

Have a good night, anon.
>>
>>80853614
Are you talking on a meta level? Miles isn't popular in real life and no one among the public knew he was black before this.
>>
>>80853623
Peter can sell more comics himself. He doesn't need me to sell comics.
>>
>>80853688
Flip that perspective around. It is YOU who needs Peter's help.
>>
>>80853085
>You say that like the most popular heroes are known best for having offensive traits
They do though. Captain America has his rightous anger that can push him too far. Tony Stark has his alcoholism and his need to control his situation becoming a crutch. Spider-Man has immense insecurities that can some times lead him to making the wrong decisions. Batman is barely tolerable as a human being he's so far into the game. Even Superman has his fear of becoming what Luthor claims he is. Deadpool masquerades his own self-loathing with buckets of humour.

These characters are all multifaceted, with traits that can cause problems for them as people having to live in the world.

Miles has no cut to his character that creates interesting interpersonal conflicts or internal conflicts. He's a squeaky clean poster boy, the character everyone who doesn't read their books thinks Superman and Captain America are. No major faults in his personality, rarely if ever makes the wrong decision, and always good and agreeable.

The most interesting anyone has made him is Mark Waid, who plays him as a bit of a kiss ass to Captain Falcon and the other senior Avengers.

As a black person this is my biggest problem with sjw types. They really don't get how racist it is to say "you're not blank you're a (color or race) blank." It's actually worse. Just call me whatever my occupation is. If I'm a cop I'm a cop. If I'm an engineer I'm an engineer. I'm not "black" cop or "black" engineer. Fucking racists

>>
>>80853941
>as a black person
Sure, anon.
>>
>>80853774
Those are just inherent character flaws, which I agree Miles doesn't have in spades, but my understanding was the other anon was fishing for were disagreeable quirks in the meta such as Carol or Tony's bouts with alcoholism.

I stand by my assessment that the most popular characters are not known for how disagreeable they are. Look at the amount of people still felating Jessica Jones for being 'likably unlikable' and situationally dumb and human.
Even most of the things you mentioned are 'job interview' flaws in the vain of "I care too much!".

That being said, Bendis had something going at the beginning by making Miles someone that was too approval-seeking, and amenable which is what led to his guilt over Peter's death because he was too afraid of his father's judgement to do anything with his powers, and him being easily manipulated by his uncle.
After those first two or three arcs Bendis lost sight of that interesting aspect to his character and literally kept giving him the approval he was seeking via other characters (and he literally keeps doing it).

>>
>>80854752
He also had a misplaced sense of guilt that could have easily been translated as him forcing himself to do things for the sake of others to whom he has no obligation.
>>
>>80853423
Don't give Bendis more stupid fucking ideas.
>>

>>80846228
The few scenes he's in are great. Lotta good visual gags with him. Despite being totally outclassed with the whole Hulk-tier situation he was in, he still found ways to be helpful.

>>
>>80858460
No, that's the actual page.. That's how Miles ended up in 616 with his mother alive again. Molecule Man asked every visitor he had if they brought him food. Miles was the only one that actually did. As a thank you, MM put Miles and his friends and family (along with a revived mother) into 616 while he, Reed, and Franklin were remaking the multiverse.
>>
>>80854316
Yous right masa I'll just get back to singing songs bout jesus an get back on to my crops. Fucking retard
>>
>>80858515
also Molecule Man turned The Maker into pizza, ate him, and shat him into 616-8 for the lulz
>>
>>80853670
So you have no actual counter-argument and are giving up by trying to divert attention from the points made. Easy to see what kind of person you are.
>>
>>80854752

Honestly, Miles had promise. A young kid trying to fit in some big shoes and garner the approval of his peers is a character type that you can do a shitload with.

Problem is that, well. Bendis is not known for masterful executions of concept, now is he.

He's not trying to fill big shoes anymore, he's trying to squeeze into occupied shoes.
And everyone fellates Miles for being the best and totally deserving of the Spider-man name
I mean, what the hell, Peter's not dead in 616-8
