That's because #1 the kid asked to see him personally, #2 this is happening far after Force Awakens came out, and #3 the kid is clearly having the time of his life.
The Ghostbusters shit involved a kid who probably didn't ask to be visited, seemed like she wanted to rest and involved people clearly promoting a movie that hasn't even been released yet.

It's the backstory that doesn't fit the movie at all. He should have been noted for various small points of insubordination and so on, nothing to say that he would turn traitor but certainly not the perfect little Stormtrooper that they mention.

From what I can remember, he wasn't a combat, but he was in combat training. He and a group of others were going into combat for the first time. That trooper that smeared blood over his helmet was a good friend. That friend was someone who had been bad at being a stormtrooper and Finn would help him out so their whole team would succeed. He was always a pretty valiant guy, just on the wrong side of things. Seeing the atrocities and death of his friend kind of shocked him out of his role of stormtrooper.

That doesn't respond to the issue, which is that Finn balks at the chance to kill people and reacts with sweating, gasping fear from merely being there, and then he goes on to kill without reacting much at all. These are people he's lived amongst and worked with for his entire life. This is his world that he's leaving behind, and he just shoots at it.
Finn had amazing potential and a great backstory, but his character in the movie did not in any way move that potential forward, which is a shame because it was one of the few things about the movie that was truly original.

It was supposed to be his first combat mission as part of his training, and to be fair, the village was hodunk as fuck and offered no real resistance to them, and Kylo and Phasma were there to provide backup if they really needed any. Hell, Kylo Ren could've fucked the whole place up himself if he wanted to.

I actually sort of liked that about him. It gives a good idea of the sort of person that becomes a Sith. It's someone who's emotional, on edge, terrified of themselves and the world. Someone who's weak and really volatile, the kind of weird outcast winds up being a school shooter. They need the dark-side to become powerful because they don't have the guts to take the long, hard road of discipline the light-side demands.
The dude is supposed to be a whimp who hides behind a mask. Just like how under all the intimidating armour, Vader was just pale, cancer-patient looking guy. The Sith are never as cool and in control as appear.
