It's a quirky little movie. Would recommend it if you like stop motion of Wes Anderson.
That fight scene was fucking great.
>>
>>80746211
I don't like Wes Anderson but I still liked this movie.
>>
>>80746229
Did you watch Grand Budapest Hotel?
>>
>>80746229
I seriously love Wes Anderson movies. He has a certain uniqueness to it that's pretty great. Moonrise Kingdom and Grand Budapest Hotel were some great shit.
>>
>>80746647
Wes 'IM SO QUIRKY' Anderson

Reminder that this, Coraline and Secret of Kells all lost to fucking Up! just because it was Pixar.
>>
>>80746840
10 minutes of Up! Opening alone is enough for guaranteed Oscar baiting, anon.
>>
>>80746840
Reminder that no matter how good Loving Vincent will do this year, it won't win any awards.
>>
Watched this a few days back, made me decide to watch all of Anderson's movies.

I just got done watching Bottle Rocket actually. I find it's fun to watch the early movies of directors with an established style to see how much of that was already in when that style wasn't fully developed yet.

This movie would have been perfect if not for the extremely bullshit way they ended the son's arc.
>>
>>80747570
The only reason Up! won is because 90% of the academy didn't see anything else on the ballot. It's easily one of the weakest movies in Pixar's library. Even Cars 1 and 2 are arguably better movies: at least they are entertaining for little children.

And then, just a few years later, a similar travesty happened when Brave won over Paranorman, Pirates and Smash-it Sam.

I love Pixar and all, but they simply do NOT have the strongest movies each year. I wonder if they feel embarrassed for wining a pretty much rigged election.
>>
>>80748462
Maybe at one point, but since Up they seem to have dropped their standards
>>
>>80748003

I was okay with it. The movie wasn't exactly grounded in reality (pinecone grenades anyone?) and they really went for it
>>
>>80746283
I liked that one. Big contributor is that Ralph was great in it

>it's based upon japanese dogs
>bill murray, edward norton, schwartzman and balaban, jeff goldblum in it
Are we READY to ENJOY another WORK of Anderson?
>>

Refugees are a drain in the short run, but if you support them and educate them until they become part of the workforce, they eventually pay back what was spent on them in taxes.

That's why people are against them and the government and corporations are for them. The normal citizen will be actually worse off, until the refugees make his country's economy a bit better a few years later. But considering the USA system where the middle and lower classes get shafted if the corporations are doing good and shafted more if they aren't, I see why people are cold towards immigration: they pay for them in taxes just to decrease their own competitiveness in the job market while OTHER people get the eventual benefit.

IMHO one of the best animated films ever made. Hilarious, unique and surprisingly heartfelt. Very rarely do I give films 10/10's but I would to this.

It is a film that I think is so close to being perfect that it may as well be IMO. Yes it probably isn't perfect but it is one of the best films I've seen. Think of it like a grading system you can get an A+ and not get 100%.

what does (hand wave) "different" mean?
>>

>not being a conservative on the internet
REEEEEEEEE
>>
>>80754920
Wes Anderson loves to be quirky (in a [most of the times] good meaning), so that's just his trademark. If he said "different", that wouldn't be Wes.
His scripts instead of being
>Hi!
Are more like
>(In a honest, fancy-meeting-you-here voice) Hi!
'Cus it's Wes Anderson.

I expected nothing less from a movie based on a Roald Dahl book
>>
>>80746647
he has his own individual sense of humour, which is so nice in a world where comedy in movies amounts to either dick jokes or fat-man-fall-down-go-boom
>>
>>80755134
>tfw the book is actually a celebration of thievery because roald lost one of his sons prior to the publishing of this book and writing it was his treatment to cope with the fact that he had failed as a father and wrote a story about immoral concepts because he didn't feel like being a good person and nothing mattered anymore
kids' books are fun, yo

He's different from the other cubs because he's introverted and has a passion for art instead of sports.
You know, feel good stuff for the outcast, sad, really different kids in the theatre.
>>
>>80746647
There's just something about his cinematography that disagrees with me. He tends to use a lot of zoomed out still shots and with all the characters always moving so frantically, they always remind me of an old puppet show for some reason.
>>
>>80743250
His wife had a pure bitch moment in that and said some VERY hurtful shit.
>>
>>80754920
It means he's goofy and maybe has something wrong with his head. Autistic. He casually dressed like his comic book hero. He's literally Chris-chan.

>>80754920
it means he's not able to fit in. He's a loner, a weird kid. Not horribly so, but just enough to be noticeable. The hand wave is a gesture to indicate that he's not exactly "different" in a way that's easy to put your finger on. It's often done in a frustrated manner. He is well aware of his social difficulties, due to the fact that he's different, thus why he himself will use the same gesture. This is why the other kid threatens him so much due to the fact that he's talented and refined in comparison.
