Why is Marvel not doing anything with The Muppets? They've got comics based on Star Wars and even Disney Themepark Rides, so why not The Muppets since they're all under the same Disney umbrella?
>>
I don't think they've done anything since getting the license besides reprinting some of the Boom! comics and publishing a story that was written and drawn while Boom still had the license.

Just lack of interest on their part I guess,

besides the TV show?

It's funny that you think the Muppets are even close to being as big as Star Wars.

The Muppets are still very popular.

Not at all, it's just that they're all IPs owned by Disney and even their rides are getting comics so why not them too.

The TV show is bland as fuck.

Someone on /tv/ pointed out something that I realized was very true: lots of people say they care about the Muppets, but very few actually do. They certainly like the idea of it and the characters, but beyond the occasional movie every few years people just don't pay much attention. The muppets TV show is just the latest in a line of one-season attempts to get people to care again

Because the Henson touch is gone, The Muppets were sold to Disney and they have no idea whatsoever on what to do with them.

Frank Oz will never get to direct "The Cheapest Muppet Movie Ever Made!" which was the last Muppet script Jim Henson, Jerry Juhl and Oz wrote, which got really close to getting made by Disney with Oz to direct but it all got pushed aside for Jason Segel's pitch.

While "The Muppets" was a cute little reboot of things that kind of acknowledges them being away for so long, several characters (especially Kermit) were grossly out of character and the Muppets in general have lost their edge, silliness and rebelliousness.

>A single UK TV ad is better than the entirety of the current "The Muppets" season.

People know the theme by heart and love The Muppet Show while the whole The Office/30Rock/Parks Rec format could have worked out in their favour it ended up being just vanilla. Kind of nice that Deadly gets to shine in it but still an all around eh show

With some work you could easily combine the current "The Muppets" with the "The Muppet Show" have it revolve around the backstage antics instead of just a safe and bland copy of Parks&Rec/30Rock with muppet characters pasted on top.

How are the Boom Muppet comics?

Jim Henson would never have sold to Disney.

He actually was in talks with them about selling the Muppets property to Disney while still owning creative, there were even talks of The Muppets getting an entire plot for themselves in Disneyland with several rides which is how we got Muppet Vision 3D.

However all of these talks were shelved after Jim's untimely death, Muppet Vision 3D being the last Muppet movie he worked on.

The writing is solid but the art work really varies depending on who drew the issue.

The left is by Roger Langridge, who wrote most of the comics and drew a bunch of them, while the left is by Amy Mebberson who did Family Reunion and the Muppet adaptions of Sherlock Holmes and Peter Pan.

Alright thanks, will check it out.

There's a ton of stuff that Disney could be doing with that franchise and aren't. Like collected editions of the newspaper comic and so on.
