Probably because his godparents are his only reasons for living at this point. His life is godawful at best, but as long as he has them it at least becomes tolerable. He has no confidence in his own future without them, and is determined to keep them around, no matter what he has to go through. Of course, rationalizing this doesn't make Timmy any less awful. I completely loath what his character has become.
