"Scene"/"P2P" groups failed to pirate the Eastern Time broadcast, so we had to wait until they pirated the Pacific Time broadcast.

I remember some episodes where the release groups completely forgot about Venture Bros and it took days for the new episode to show up. This show kinda flies under the radar.
>>
>>79678999
Those are trips of lies. Spanakopita is a good episode.
>>
>>79679089
Yes, it's very good. It's a show with an ongoing story, made by an extremely small team of people who do not compromise on quality for anything as trivial as releasing more than ten episodes per decade or believable animation for the first few years. The writing, comedy, voice acting are all very good and the characterisation and character interaction over short- and long timescales are probably the best out of all cartoons.
>>

Also having Triana's face on the female shirt gives me a 3d model to work with for her body...

>>79679089
It's the kind of show where watching in order matters, so go start at season one rather than the most recent.

>>
>>79679408
I get the feeling they wanted to end that story in the next episode to give it some breathing room, but decided to dump all the uninteresting stuff in this episode to tie up all the loose ends.

>>
>>79679578
Both are bad asses who at the end of the day love the Ventures the fact they can put guild/OSI stuff aside for the greater good is one of the strongest parts of the episode. Plus I loved Hatreds arc not where else is someone like Hatred gonna get redemption
>>79679627
>>79680645
Oh shit! He does want to cuck arch the Monarch.
>>
>>79678999
I agree with you for this episode but Spanikopita was great.
>>
>>79680874
I'm so happy about this. Dr. Dugong was one of my favorite one-shot (heh) villians, and Wide Whale reminded me of him. Gotta say, this revelation alone made the episode worth it, plus it got Pete and Billy to NY.
>>
>>79681015
What is it about the Ventures that Brock and Hatred love?
>>
>>79681174

Don't forget it also gave us bro-ing Brock and Vatred and the hope that Ventech might not file bankruptcy by the end of the season.
>>
>>79681174
Weirdly, Dr. Dugong was a guild-sanctioned super scientist, Monarch was assigned to arch him. That means Dugong must have turned good at some point and left the Guild.
>>
So does the Monarch's parent's house having a lair in it confirm that they were villians (and probably arching Jonas Sr?). Feels like that would make the most sense for him being obsessed with Rusty.
>>
I hope the Pirate Captain stays on board, it's always fun to see weird side characters suddenly upgrade to main cast.
>>
>>79681228
You're totally right. I always think of the Monarch as a protag, so I forgot that Dugong was on the side of good. That makes Wide Whale's heel turn make even more sense.
>>
>>79681234
It strongly reminded me of the Batcave, I'm thinking they were Batman-styled vigilantes, maybe allies of the original Team Venture.
>>
So I was taking a crap and it came to me. What killed Jonas Venture was the Investors. The Investors were not new but likely millenia old in their affairs. Jonas' desperate call of love to Rusty indicated he knew his time was up, it was all coming to an end. Jonas had fame, money, all the pussy a man could want and 50% extra, the life of an adventurer/spy, and super science like no other. Jonas was a virtual god. I'm also betting Jonas was not born with that large stature and a dick so mighty it could traumatize children for decades. Look at Rusty, look at what is probably going to be his other son the Monarch. Both are of a slender frame. Or take JJ, twins are absorbed because they're weak and look at his cancerous final days. Look at Dr. Qynummy. She is also a bit of a let down, desperate enough to fuck Rusty, and having a severe seizure disorder. Jonas was not shooting the best DNA.

This episode was too chaotic imo. Season one episodes could be recaped in a single sentence. "Venture family meets the Impossibles"; "Venture family goes to their space station."

This could only be summarized as "Billy and Pete fight their archenemy. Monarch and Henchman 21 attempt to win back the arching rights of Venture. The Venture family tries to fix their company."

I like the Greece episode a lot because it felt like one of the older episodes. A single plot episode essentially.
>>
>>79682386
>Billy and Pete fight their archenemy

This was required for the build up in the next episode where Billy and Pete will start working for ventures and with their tech help them face Wild Wale

>>79682430
Was I the only one who thought the last minute sale of Conjectural Technologies was tacked on? Couldn't they have done more with it if Billy and White went to work at Ventech and later all their contributions to super science get remanded to the custody of Augustus and the Guild by some legal precedent or the like? Billy and White already had no where to go, and no friends except Rusty, it was a logical choice for them to go to Ventech palms out and hungry for work.

I suppose the legal scenario could still take place under some kind of legal nonsense as part of the sale of CT.

yes, but keep in mind when watching the first season that it gets better, I wasn't into it at the start but i love it now. Season 2 is where it really took off for me
>>
>>79679089
The show has one of the most unique types of humor there is.

The main character is Rusty, who essentially is a parody of Jonny Quest. Then the ACTUAL JONNY QUEST shows up. The character that is parodied ends up in the very parody. This isn't the only time something like this happens. There's a parody of the Fantastic Four called the Impossibles. They end up winning best costume at a Halloween party for dressing up as the Fantastic Four.

Venture Bros., from my point of view, is basically /co/: the show (less tumblr than /co/ is).
>>
post theories, about anything

The original Hank and Dean are still alive. They live with their mother. They are about 23.

Rusty couldn't handle having his kids taken away so he cloned them.

The mother is the true antagonist of the show and the original Hank and Dean work for her.

Vendata is The Monarch's father.

>Going by other recent theories, the Monarch's father was a vigilante of sorts, an expy of Green Hornet it seems.
>Vendata is a robocop expy. RoboCop and the Green Hornet are both cop-like antiheroes who are, for the most part, killing their enemies.
>The Monarch's father could have easily been targeted by villains who found out his secret identity.
>The Monarch's father, who died in a plane crash, could have been assassinated. The plane intentionally blowing up rather than an accident.
>Rusty is implied to be responsible to some degree in the plane crash.
>Vendata was a former human
>In 1976, Vendata, his wife and child go on some plane ride
>The plane blows up
>His wife died
>He was saved from the wreckage by Jonas Venture Sr.
>Jonas, unable to cope with the death of his close friend, turns the Monarch's father into a cyborg called Vendata
>By turning him into RoboCop, Jonas is not just saving his friend but upgrading his weaponry and means of getting his revenge (VENdata)
>Vendata reacted poorly to the process, going into a berserk rage, where he ends up attacking Rusty Venture
>After the attack, Vendata goes rogue, loses his humanity and becomes a villain on the council of 13
>Vendata attacking Rusty remains one of Rusty's most traumatic experiences
>>
>>79686227
>>79686578
Jonas didn't die.

>>
>>79686227
-Vendata being Monarchs dad
-The Orb still having some unbelievable power and will play some key part in the overarching mythology
-Whatever god entity the Investors and Killinger are will definitely play a huge part, possibly a balance of good and evil ideology as was hinted at by his quoting Shakespeare in season 3 (and General Manhowers referencing the Bible thereafter)
>>

>>

Some of his invisible limbs got blown off during the Season 2 Finale. Later, he grew them back using the machine that gave him invisible limbs in the first place.

wrong, the quote Hatred said was:
"When the Ong Brothers joined the guild in '87..."
>>
>>79688048
Given Rose's actions on Gargantua 2, why not.

So, Rusty, Monarch, Pirate Captain, and Billy are Half-Brothers via Jonas Venture, Sr.
>>
>>79689119
Pretty sure he says "One of the" instead of "When the", albeit very fast.

If you listen to the rest of the quote, "When the Ong Brothers joined the guild in '87, ruthless", it doesn't make any sense

>>

This is why I liked this episode. The first of the season had me fearing he was going to shit all over himself, but now he might actually sustain the company.
>>
>>79690474
I loved that scene, and not just because it looks like he's going to stay out of the poor house.

I guess that's Rusty to a core - he's trying to live up to this image of his father that he both admires and resents, but without the basic practicality to achieve that. When he predictably fails to achieve his grand vision, he becomes depressed and everything falls to shit.

Sea Captain, you are the best.

Pete and Billy getting bought by Venture probably means Rusty is gonna gather super scientists to actually do inventing under one roof.

Kinda wishing I bought the first shirt, but currently broke. Maybe one day I will be rich enough to spend money carelessly for t-shirts.

First time subbing to the t-shirt club. I was kinda hesitant to drop 200$ on a bunch of random shirts, but the first couple have all been really really good.

Really like the Batman thing they did with this one

He's like a totally morally bankrupt Hank Pym but can't actually give enough of a fuck to be a villain. So he tries to be a crappy scientist with least amount of effort needed to be one.

>>
>>79696388
>what with there being a new guild or whatever,

I wouldn't exactly call it a new guild. They're just filling the empty voids of the guild hierarchy the Sovereign made.
>>
>>79690664

It could work. The creators did say they wanted to start showing some measure of success with the characters now instead of just endless failure

>Monarchs parents are doing SOMETHING secret with the lair
>Baby Monarch sees the lair, they go to Jonas Sr for a mindwipe, which he does
>Pic of Rusty and Monarch is right after the mindwipe, Rusty being a spoiled brat probably stole Monarchs toy or something
>Monarch could possibly hate Rusty for a childhood dick move that snowballed into arching
>>
>>79679203
Is it me or did St. Cloud actually do them a favor.
>>
>>79686227

The batcave Monarch finds reveals what really happened. His parents were killed by members of the Guild, who may have also been the real reason Jonas Sr. died.

Thus, the Monarch becomes an assassin not because of an overreaction to the Guild not respecting him, but to avenge his family for the life that was taken from him.
>>
>>79682386
The issue is the episode limitations, If we had a larger sized season it would have covered the same content but we would have had less sub plots per episode.
>>
>>79698006
Either he was unaware that him and Rusty are good friends which wouldn't make sense since he saw them at Spanikopita together.Or he wanted to gloat over flipping a penny into a million dollars, or he just wanted the money and was fine with having humiliated Billy that once

When is the Christams Special set? I mean it was made after the Season 1 finale but the brothers are still alive though.

Is it just me or is Brock planting death flags all over the place? Acting weirdly happy, not loading his gun out of some misplaced sense of pride... this might be the end for him.
>>
>>79699076

He's hardly ever used guns, and it's not like he was depressed, just either on edge most of the time or restless because of whatever new shit Doc was making him do.

His little getaway from the Venture family pretty much gave him a chance to reassess things and get his head back in the game

Yeah, and the fact Billy is also probably his kid, and maybe the Monarch (His eyebrows and whatever else goofy shit he's got) if this is true, then JV SR was probably a much more capable phantom limb type, who in turn used his powers for good.
>>
>>79699264
I don't really know where you're getting it from other than maybe the "when was the last time you went to the zoo" but the implication was pretty clear he got the idea to steal a polar bear.

I think the point is to show maybe that OSI is forcing him to take things seriously.
>>

He was also being cute with Shore Leave and Sergeant Hatred in the same episode, and also playing pranks on Wide Whale
>>
Hypothesis: Monarch's dad was a Batman-style vigilante and reserve member of Team Venture. He will become a vigilante, killing or disabling the Rusty arches on the list ahead of him.

When Wide Wale finds out Monarch killed his brother, shit hits the fan.

Bonus points if Wale goes through Guild procedure and becomes Monarch's new arch.

he was off the wagon for, like, half an episode. i dont even know why they bothered doing it in the first place. I think they're keeping him clean now. We've seen that what haunts him is the people he's failed that he cared about, so now we're probably gonna see him give it his all.

So the running idea is that blue 'Green Hornet' is the Monarch's dad. His wife dies in a plane crash while also believing his son perished too. Turns him into Vendetta and then somewhere along the way he dies. Then his friend Jonas Sr. makes him into Vendetron. So is that about it? Man that guy had a rough life.
>>
Remember the first Season 6 promo? The one where Watch and Ward (love those guys) warn you about the guy killing villains who looks like Doc? I think it could be the Monarch. This episode gave him a motive to kill villains, to get back to arching Venture. Would he turn to murdering his fellow villains?

Do you think Sheila knows that she and her husband killed Wide Wale's bro?
>>
>>79705653
Probably in his file.
>>
>>79687841
She should have given Monarch a seat on the Council to keep him happy.

Doctor Girlfriend should know by now that if he's not allowed to arch Venture, bad shit happens. Give him some power/a seat on the council (there are like 5-6 openings!) and that would let her keep an eye on him and probably soothe Monarch's ego enough for him to let go of Rusty and not make trouble.

Yes, Killinger will probably have a huge cow but hey! There is your new storyline for Sheila (Killinger not liking her going against him and giving Monarch a council seat) and there would be talk and whispers about it being nepotism, but hey they can have Doctor Girlfriend justify it by claiming Monarch's roll in stopping Phantom Limb's coup alone justifies giving him a council spot.
>>
>>79705860
Monarch kills his men willy-nilly and despises Phantom Limb for being his ex-boss and for fucking Sheila without his consent. Let him on the council and he'll be dead within a week after killing half of the not-13 for startling him.

This episode with him discovering the cave is probably how he becomes the blue guy murdering villains, using all that old pulp gear.
>>
>>79706028
They could get some mileage out of Phantom Limb and Monarch being forced to work together and eventually becoming friends.

Also, they could go the angle of Monarch actually being GOOD at being the head of a super-villain cartel and have Sheila become jealous because her husband has found his niche and she no longer has the position of being the "competent one" of the pair.

I remember listening to the commentary for S1-3 and hating them. Doc and Chris are just terrible to listen to sometimes. IIRC, they didn't really say anything funny or interesting. To be fair, I had just listened to the Futurama commentaries and those were awesome, so I had high hopes.

Haven't listened to the other seasons, but yeah.

does anyone else think Dr. Mrs. The Monarch is just as idiotic as The Monarch is?
>>
>>79682430
>This was required for the build up in the next episode where Billy and Pete will start working for ventures
Not required at all and could really use some Checkov's Gun (the REAL Checkov's gun: "remove everything that is superfluous to the plot")

Doc could have bought Conjectural Technologies directly, WITHOUT having to go through St Cloud.

That entire plotline was done for comedy, but it wasn't funny. They could have spent that time with more hwhacky drug addict pirate jokes.
>>
>>79707588

It was plenty funny. Despite the three being all giddy about becoming part of the costume adventuring, Billy and Pete, and St. Cloud are just a trio of geeks goofing around compared to the likes Rusty deals with. And that's saying something given now Rusty has to deal with a serious 10 on the villain scale for once
>>
I do wonder where Orpheus is staying now. Did every building in the compound go up in smoke, or just the main building and those by it? Because if the further ones didn't burn, he might shack up in there like Hunter and SPHINX did.

Though I could see him winding up in Outrider's house for a few weeks.

>Tries to dote on Triana once more while Outrider and Tatyana just let her do whatever
>Has to deal with hearing Outrider and Tatyana going at it at 3 in the morning
>More annoyed by the fact that Triana's room is nearby and exposing her to their "noises"
>>
>>79707660
We already know this from an entire five seasons of seeing how geeky they are and how inept the Monarch is.

A recap consisting of "these guys sold all of their assets in exchange for a red rubber ball" is redundant, and personally I didn't find it funny at all, just boring. "Oh he's using a hand puppet to wash his groin/butt, hilarious."
>>
>>79707719
Orpheus is one of the few characters in the series that actually has gainful employment. He could probably find an apartment anywhere.

If there's a takeaway from this episode, it's "you can't live on your father's/brother's money forever, you have to get a job."
>>
>>79707812

Never know though. Wasn't he staying at the compound since Rusty wasn't charging as much as some places?
>>
>>79707799

It gave them some spotlight, even if it wasn't t hat relevant to the main plot until the end.
>>
The concept of falilure has been an overarching theme through every season.
This season though, is looking different.
If you look at how things are going, even in the first 3 episodes, it appears that we may finally have a season where the Ventures achieve, ACTUAL, great things.

So many fucking archs in this show.
