It's Sonic, even 'good' is just mediocre.
As far as Archie goes, the early stuff is harmless jokebook mqterial, once Penders takes over it's pretty shit, and then when Ian Flynn takes over writing it becomes a decent action comedy.
The Fleetway Comics are super killer. I'm an Amerifat who never grew up with these but they are by far the best supplementary Sonic material I've seen.

This about sums it up.
Getting rid of Penders was both the best and the worst thing to happen to this book. The best because he's a fucking self centered hack, worst because he took literally the entire supporting cast and 20+ years of continuity with him.
What they got going now is pretty great though.
