From a marketing point of view it is, no matter how great an incarnation may be, they will always bring it back to its roots and try something different while keeping some of the same, there is a reason why after Ultimate Alien Force we never got a Ben 10.000 animated series, because (or at least this is what they believe) kids would not buy adult ben toys and shit like that, and Ben being a kid with the watch helps with selling toys because "i can be just like him", at the end of the day its toys > Lore, just like with MLP

My thought is its not the worst as cartoons go , but as a scooby doo the worst possible offender ever made. I can see how 6 years old would enjoy it but its missing a lot. The older ones have some cares , mystery ,ok characters but this is just pure action . I mean mystery machine can fly and shit ,Velma is more of know it all ,Daphne is just annoying with a personality of spoiled teenager that you would see in 'Super sweet 16' the rest is pretty much the same desu. The only think I enjoy is time to time they trow a joke from original series. Overall after watching it I don't hate it but definitely dont have much interest in it. Analyzing this is like over analyzing Dora the explorer it never was made for deep plot just some flashing images and sounds to entertain kids so the adults can have some off time. There is no more to it

But how is that different from the old show? Sure, the mystery machine didn't transform into all sorts of shit (which is probably a reference to other HB shows and not Scooby Doo). But other than that, it's the same formula. A "monster" shows up, these guys take the case, they do stupid shit, they collect clues, and one or two of the 3 or so suspects introduced along the way is guilty. The original show also padded it out with jokes, except they were all about Scooby and Shaggy eating instead of having the variety that they have now. And the mystery part of the show was always way too basic and almost always relied on complete nonsense when it came to explaining how the criminal pulled it off. If anything, this is easily the closest it has ever gotten to the original show.

I think the most distracting thing is that this was the thing that would replace Mystery Inc as the new Scooby Doo show.
Mystery Inc was such a high quality show with actual mystery and intrigue, depth in the characters and the Lovecraft-level cosmic horror and lore that really made Scooby Doo interesting again.
It's distracting for all that to be replaced with "generic mystery solving with skooks and the gang" again, it feels like we're back to square one.
I think dark Scooby Doo can work exceptionally well just look at Mystery Inc and Zombie Island.

The show turned people off with Velma and Scooby having their rivalry over Shaggy in Season 1.
It improved amazingly after that, especially dancing around the edge of the Velma and Marcie relationship. Velma was both the worst character and later, easily the best.

Also another friend of mine dislikes it and thinks the animation is terrible and she also hates the jokes. She called it american dad meets scooby doo. Which i really dont see the problem with, that sounds fucking hilarious. Kids will play with Iron Man/Captain America/Hulk, but can honestly care less about Tony Stark/Steve Rogers/Bruce Banner. You're not going to ever see those guys in a kids game, happy meal, or lunch box without their costumes.
Ben 10 can not only market the cool-ass aliens, they can also market Ben himself as a cool character. They can't fit all the aliens on stuff, but they can fit Ben.

That's the reality of doing reboots, and this show failed to meet expectations set by the previous one. If they want to be judged by their own merits, then don't do an adaptation.

They tried to make a not shitty show.
In the original series, Scooby/Shaggy and celebrity guests carry the jokes and move the plot forward. Usually Velma, Daphne, and Fred are the dull straighten who just comment on clues along the way.
In later shows/movies, they gave everyone more depth, and Scooby/Shaggy tend to take more of a back seat. I like it, but it does make it feel more like an ensemble thing as opposed to the Scooby Show With His Best Friend Shaggy! (also featuring some other folks).

You're contradicting yourself here. You don't have the n to figure out whether or not shes rarely useful in Be Cool. Daphne has always been the damsel. Thats what you should expect out of most episodes of any Scooby Doo.

I like the show.
Are my standards for a children's cartoon too low? Probably. But it definitely has some funny bits that make it worth watching.
And this is probably the only version of Daphne I've been interested in and not for sex appeal. She's weird, but she's not a complete idiot and helps with the mystery solving just as much at the others.
