Well, most people on /co/ don't even read comics. They are here for animated kids tv-shows. And those who are here for comics are only into corporate comics because capes are popular at the moment because of Hollywood etc. I'm surprised he even had a sticky. Tatsumi didnt get a sticky here when he died this year, not even on /a/ (even though he's more known in alt-comics circles then manga). Dennis P. Eichhorn did not get a sticky either. Did Spain Rodriguez get a sticky?

Clowes co-wrote the movie, so I think he's fine with the changes.
I think because Ghost World is a pretty short comic, you can get away with having its characters be unlikable 90's hipsters. When you've got to expand it into a 2 hour movie with an actual plot, you've got to add more charcter development and I think the movie adaptation deepened the characters very well.
Also, Steve Buscemi is great in it.
