Not even fucking with you, this is one of my favorite movies. I've seen it all the way through at least 5 times and love it every single viewing. It's such a spectacular fuck up in so many ways, I notice something new and awful about it every time. This movie is pinnacle of post-2000 disasterpieces.
I had only seen a couple episodes and while I really enjoyed, it, I never really thought much about actually binging the whole series.
The movie was good enough that I was motivated to go check out every season of the show from my library. I'm pretty happy about that.

The original Mortal Kombat movie is (low bar, mind) probably one of the better video game movies out there. Most of the people are in character or in serviceable costumes, the action is okay, and the plot isn't that far off from the game's. The biggest problem is the PG-13 rating, but even then, it's much more faithful than either Street Fighter movie, and a more enjoyable movie in its own right.
Annihilation, on the other hand, is inexcusable.

The fight choreography was good in quite a few places (excluding the Wimp-Lo earthbenders), but otherwise yeah, it was pretty fucking awful in every other aspect.
The casting was dismal, the story was dumb as shit, the creative decisions were idiotic (completely changing Iroh, making the Asian firebenders Indian and the Inuit waterbenders white, attempting to compress an entire season into 100 minutes, the willful mispronunciation of every name), the direction was shoddy and uninspired, the acting was wooden at best and actually nervous at worst, and the special effects were subpar for their time.
The only scene I actively unironically liked was a very brief flashback where Aang's teacher caught Aang stepping out of formation. It was literally the only spark of any kind of inspiration I could salvage out of this awful and shitty excuse for a motion picture.
