You posted it OP.

Second would be Orlando's Midnighter.
>>
It had some competition, but this wins out due to far exceeding expectations issue by issue.

That last injustice annual is my favorite stand alone for the year.
>>
I prefer this over Ultra comics. Ultra comics had a much better concept, but the middle part didn't live up to the beginning and end parts
>>
>>78555319
this
>>
That Injustice annual from yesterday
>>
>>78555295
I'm not too big on Green Lantern, but this was fucking based.

>>78555252
Could have been better. Started strong, had a really weak third or 4th issue. End was meh.

>>78555176
>>78555499
I liked all of Multiversity, with the exception of "The Just", which wasn't bad, just meh.

Pic related was my favorite, probably contender for single favorite book of 2015. Also, the Convergence and Darkseid War Shazam issues were also pretty damn solid. For a guy without an ongoing to his name, he gave a good showing for 2015.
>>
>>78555330
>>78555704
Gonna have to go with injustice annual.
>>
Honestly?
The last issue of Last Days of Ms. Marvel got my vote.
Emotional climax, that needed no costume to do it.
All character interaction.
Also, Special mention to Captain America & the Mighty Avengers #9, for the true end to 616
>>
>>78555295
Ditto.
>>
>>78555790
on the DC side, an honorable mention goes out to Batman Endgame's finale, for Snyder not fucking up the landing on an arc, and Capullo's art selling that it was a final fight.
That said, my favorite issue from DC, is JL:Darkseid War- Green Lantern, with props to issue 1 of Midnighter for blowing my socks off, knowing nothing about the character, writer, or artist.
I still refuse to read/touch my copy of Ultra Comics. It's still bagged in the top of my closet.
>>
>>78555905
>spoiler

Are you fucking even being serious?
>>
>>78555738
to be honest, Sinestro is probably having the time of his life in injustice. Everyone's going through some emotional turmoil or oppressed and scared for their life. But Sinestro is the same as he ever was and is just rocking out. He now does evil and spreads fear in the name of superman and finally got hal jordan tight ass to himself.

This is the Dude's Dream and I'm really happy for him.
>>
>>78555941
I'm too spooped to get rid of it.
>>
>>78555974
I'll storytime it in a bit then. How does that sound?
>>
Prez and Midnighter were the highlights for me.

Biggest surprise was probably Vision, didn't expect that kind of comic from Marvel and after how it was advertised. Very excited to see how it goes.

Secret Wars #9

Just pulling your legs anon, Secret Wars a shit, gotta go with the Justice League #40, All those two page spreads and Hypercrisis off the walls
>>
>>78556927

It's part of Grant Morrison's Multiversity series that wrapped up earlier this year. It covers a multiverse-wide crisis within the DCU and how it affects different worlds within the multiverse.

Some issues are better than others, but god damn the whole thing is one hell of a trip.
>>
>>78556927
It's Morrison playing around with the idea that all the content in comics are just thoughts in the reader's head and how the comic is like a delivery system for ideas which can consequently "infect" the reader's mind without them realizing it. The characters and story are meant to be visual and conceptual representations/avatars of the reader and their thoughts brought to life by, and mirroring, the reader's choice, and physical act, of reading the comic.

It's supposed to take place in "the real world". Not a fictional version of it in the comic, but the actual real world that you're reading the comic in. Because the "story" of it is basically an abstract representation of you reading it.

It's one of Morrison's "fuck with the reader's head" comics.

It's either 10/10 or "WOW IT'S FUCKING NOTHING" depending on who you ask.
>>
>>78557124

Yeah JL #40 at the very least started out Darkseid War with a bang. It's just a shame the event has kind of meandered since then.

Hi Gentry.
>>
Volume 7 of the Bellybuttons for a single issue.

For an ongoing comic, that would be Jem and The Holograms. Honorable mentions are Giant Days, that early story arc of the Sonic the Hedgehog comic, Princess Ugg, Prez and Tomboy.
>>
>>78557601
>Prez

shit yes, it's criminal that Prez has gotten so little attention. It's one of the best political satire comics in recent memory.

Well it was mostly about the interactions and relationships between the characters.
>>78556716
Long story short, I made charts that put Tony to shame and had to fin the "deeper meaning" within the data so I just said:
"When this information is put together, it can be interpreted as a sign that this is not a story about just one person or even a group of people. Instead, this is a story about a universe."
To be honest I was making a lot of it up as In was writing it.
The paper is nothing special, but I can post the graphs if you want.

>>
>>78558747
Most of Morrison's comics have the same philosophy behind them.
>>
>>78558747
The only real similarity is the overall message (superheroes are really cool but being a fanboy is kind of toxic so go out there and live too). Completely different in how they approach the subject; Flex obviously spins it more positively.
>>
Could someone explain to me why they like ultra comics so much? I like it too but I don't know if I thing it's amazing. Is there something I'm missing?

That's was a good post, but hasn't Morrison explored most of these ideas in his other work, in perhaps not so direct ways? I didn't feel like anything new from Morrison.

As a programmer I think digital humanties are pretty interesting, mostly have just looked at Stanford Literary Lab stuff and more technical NLP stuff on text generation, this seems pretty cool and must have been fun to work up.

what did you use to make the graph?

Gephi can work well but the UI is total shit. Cytoscape is looks pretty nice but I'm not familiar. At work I mostly just put things into networkx to draw stuff powered by matplotlib so I can just write python code instead of fiddling with GUI shit.

I've really enjoyed poking around the marvel social graph dataset, pic related.

I sunk 5 hours of work trying to get that program to actually run.
I could go on a hour long rant about the pros and cons of Gephi, mostly about how I had to go rewrite some of the code to get it running.
