Just found out Pete's Dragon is being remade for a 2016 movie. Is there really a point?
I can understand the Jungle Book, but Pete's Dragon? I consider it one of those Disney movies that is part of the Mary Poppins era. It has enough charm on it's own, why disturb the grave?

The same reason any new remake/reboot/rehash is done: money; despite the fact that, usually, remakes and reboots never make as much money overall as the original did and never reach the same amount of popularity as the original did.

Is anyone actually nostalgic for Pete's Dragon?
I mean sure, I liked it okay as a kid (the songs are a little annoying now as an adult), but I literally know no one for which this movie was a childhood keystone.
