Hi /co/

does anyone know about this comic ?

It's a french epic fantasy comic telling the rise and fall of the Dungeon.

I can only say that it is truly great. It can brutally shift in tone, from light humour, to violent and depressing mood. It can be silly and very mature at the same time. It's a very ambitious comic, spanning various periods..

For those who are into video games, espacialy Dark Souls, they share many qualities, such as an enormous lore, and a storytelling with blanks left to be filled by your imagination.

It's one of my favourite comics, you should check it out.

I've heard about it in a few threads and found a torrent with all of it, but it's my understanding that there's no complete scanlation yet, so I need to build up my french more before I start tackling it
>>
>>78447884
I've read one or two books about it once.

In the third tome or so the duck become powerful enough to kill with a single feather, so a lot of the later works until the timeskip are taking place before that time.
>>
It and Trondheim's other works are on my reading list.
>>
I collect the series, albeit in Dutch.

It is fucking awesome.

I read this when i was a kid, one of the best french comics series i've read

I own the whole collection except for the last two tomes (I'm buying them soon)

Amazing series, too bad it never became well known

I heard the original idea was to make 300 tomes but they're finishing it already. Sad... it had so much potential

Btw, pic related is my favourite tome

Artstyle looks great
>>
I loved the first few books but I don't care much for all the spin-offs

Are those in English?
>>
>>78451861
i'm rereading the Potron Minet (Dawn in english) part, i think it's my favourite of all.
Seeing the genesis of the Dungeon, how Hyacinthe evolved, and Blain's drawing fits incredibly well the tone of the Potron Minet era.
>>
One of my first adult comics (my parents thought it was for kids due to the artstyle). It got a great rpg too.

>I heard the original idea was to make 300 tomes but they're finishing it already. Sad... it had so much potential
Yeah, it was a colossal project, but since the Association went through a couple of crises and the main authors want to try other projects now
.
I'm glad they got Boulet to draw the last two Zenith albums, though, the details are awesome compared to Trondheim childish art.

Trondheim is doing Ralph Azham now. It's not quite as good, but has a very similar tone and style. Check it out.

Yes

How much of the series has been translated anyway?
>>
>>78447884
this my friend is the best comic i ever read in my life, i love le donjon with all my heart, when they split the narrative in 3 timelines it just blow my mind
>>
>>78447884
Yes, it's fucking great. I like the "Monsters" and "Twilight" arcs best, I have three volumes of it. Also, which is the arc with Hyacinth's origin? That was a great story, I love Christophe Blain. It's a cool series 'cause it's all French "alternative" cartoonists (lots of l'association founders--I mean, the whole concept was created by one) doing subject matter they might not otherwise tackle. I'm slowly buying my way through the series by artist...
>>
Thanks for the reminder !
I haven't keep up with this series in a long time, I have read like 4-5 of each time period, I need to check what has been released since.

Fucking Killoffer is amazing. I would storytime his: "676 Apparitions of Killoffer" but my scanner's not big enough, it's a fucking huge book. Some of the most masterful b & w cartooning I've ever seen.
>>
Amazing but Sfar is a faggot and Trondheim has a 5 second attention span so we never gonna see the end of the series. Grogro is best character.
>>
>>78454604
It wasn't originally published by L'Asso, though, was it? Just conceived by one of the founders (Sfar came later, I'm fairly sure). I remember the big fall-out in, was it 2012/13? where J.C Menu divorced himself from the company, or something?
>>
I really like the series. Though I haven't read that Ladykiller one or the latest Twilight.

Is the fourth Dungeon Twilight out anywhere?
>>
>>78469541
"Monstres" volume 6 is coming in English from NBM in February. The Great Animator.
Don't know about the fourth Twilight, could be out in France?
>>
>>78469541
Just checked the NBM website, yup, it's out. It's cool 'cause NBM do those sets of the different arcs which work out a little bit cheaper.

Any /co/mrades read the "Parade" stuff? I hadn't seen it or not noticed when it came out or something, it says it takes place between volumes 1 and 2 of "Zenith".

I forgot Based Stephane Blanquet has art in Monstres volume 2, might get that one next. Argh fuck this series is of such high quality it's so hard to decide which volumes to buy next, I have to get at least two at a time because it is just ridiculously consistent!
>>
So what's the reading order for this?
>>
>>78471592
Not sure. You could try release order, as the safe option.
