yeah it is. ( I dropped big two a long time ago and only follow them on here. my pull now only consists of valiant and image) but so much of the market consists of people who are so set in their ways that despite constantly bitching about how the big two universes are terrible ( and they are) that they won't ever drop or try new things

Imperium stands on it's own more or less. Harada's motivations are spelled out pretty well in the first issue. Knowing and understanding that Rising Spirit is REALLY evil is useful ( Also that rising spirit is now being backed by the US to stop Harada)

Yep, Valiant strives to be as accessible as possible with each story arc, let alone title. Unity was more than a bit of a crossover slut, but besides that they do a damn good job of it.

It's not bad. It's a pretty standard cape the book, but it's definitely acceptable quality. Aric is quite the enjoyable character actually, and the fact that valiant is dedicated to keeping it running as long as possible under one writer gives the book the opportunity for long-form storytelling we just don't get much of in the current market.
The earlier stuff in the run where he was running around as a barbarian and power armor conquering Romania and shit was actually really cool.
