Flying motorcycles. And why wouldn't they have chains?
>>
>>78301695
I didn't know Wonder Woman had a severed head that floated slightly above her body. Oh, it's Morrison. Makes sense then.

>>
>>78302204
In the Golden Age stuff, yeah. Special training and whatnot. Morrison appears to be aiming for Golden Age here.
>>
You know what I like best about this? WW's outfit matches the aesthetic of the other Amazons for once. Usually they're all Greek with the togas and the battle skirts--which is a cool angle sure--but Wonder Woman's outfit has always been presented with the "it's a diplomatic gesture to wear the clothes of their burlesque dancers" angle. Plus it finally makes sense for her to have a jet plane.

She does appear to be more sexual with her practically wearing underwear but since Morrison emphasized it's a matriarchal society I'm betting that's intentional on WW's part to intimidate them and emphasize her power with her sexuality.

That or sexuality takes a different context in a unisex society, though it doesn't really hold water since it's usually going to be a homosexual society as well.
>>
>>78302441
No. They are all Amazons but they existed well before Wondy. So on E1 her outfit matches theirs.

If you are talking about the artist, that anon was saying he's glad the artist did that so it makes more sense.

Did Grant drop that angle? Because with Kevin Smith that sounded like it was supposed to be a part of it.
Though it seemed more like social stagnation of some sort since it's the same people all this time.

I met him at a con a couple years ago and he said it would be out.... soon? He was really nice and cool to talk to and listen to at his booth and panel.

Funny enough, Alex DiCampi was there with him talking about the history of Wonder Woman before she was even hired for that WW stint she would later (rightfully) complain about. Given the shit show the Wonder Woman department at DC isn part of the all-male Supes office, no wonder this took forever to get out.

Hell. Didn't this start as All Star Wonder Woman with Adam Hughes on art or was that somewhat before Morrison had this idea. I know it was shoeborned into the Earth One brand. Greg Rucka left DC partly because Didio promised him this book and then gave the Earth One title to Grant's story.

All Star Wonder Woman was a different thing completely. That didn't come out because Hughes had trouble writing and drawing it, and later the entire All Star line was just cancelled due to Lee not being able to finish ASBAR.

Rucka was gonna have a Wonder Woman OGN that was then given to Morrison. It was originally called "Trial of Diana Prince" but was then renamed and put under the Earth One titles.

That's silly though, Azzerello's Wondy was great and firmly embraced a some what modernization of Marstony Wonder Woman.

He said there's no fighting for like the first 30 pages or something.
>>
>>78303945
Grant finished a long fucking time ago. He's been waiting on Paquette to finish the art, plus they delayed it because they wanted it to coincide with her 75 year anniversary.

>Azzerello's Wondy was great

>firmly embraced a some what modernization of Marstony Wonder Woman.
That is damn wrong.

let me guess, you are one of those fuckers that are still angry at her being zeus daughter and the god of war right ?
>>
>>78304669
She literally forces Hera to submit to her and become a loving grandmotherly figure to Zeke.
She defeats Hades through tender love and affection.
She ends up being a motherly leader for a group that look to her for protection.
I get its cool to seem like you don't like popular things but you should try not talking shit
>>
>>78303595
>Given the shit show the Wonder Woman department at DC isn part of the all-male Supes office, no wonder this took forever to get out.

This reorganization only happened later like in the first third or mid 2015 that occurred around the same time as DC's move to Burbank. Before this WW was under a different editorial section that also included the Green Lantern books as well as Swamp Thing and Animal Man. And I believe (though I'm not sure) also under the guy who gave Azz the job of doing the WW ongoing and found Chuck Soule for the big 2.
>>
>>78304846
Feminists hate Azzarello because he made the Amazons backward savages. Which is amazing since no one had any problem with Byrne using a similar formula and making Krypton into a sterile lifeless society.
>>
>>78304788
No, I straight up disliked the run. It failed to be entertaining on nearly ever level.

I have no idea how anyone liked that garbage, and every time I ask, I get vague non-answers, so I have to assume it's some kind of joke.
>>
>>78305037
I really enjoyed Azzarello's run, though.
>>
>>78304788
What I didn't like about it was that it failed to do something new with her when it was suppose to be the main selling point.
>>
>>78305041

is wrong ?

>>78305088

>>
>>78305037
>Which is amazing since no one had any problem with Byrne using a similar formula
Bullshit. Pretty much nobody liked Bryne's run.

>>78305088
>>78305109
You don't get points for stuff that's supposed to happen int a Wondy run. It's all drowned out by overly snarky dialogue, nearly every character being a complete asshole, and that hideously annoying thing where everyone inadvertently finishes each others' sentences.

Oh and yes, the Amazons being monstrous savages with realistically no hope of redemption whatsoever.
>>
>>78305008
Green Lantern is still in that editorial group.
>>
>>78304463
1. This is a new continuity, we don't know details like that
2. The story is about how she's on trial. Regardless of her powers, she respects the laws of her people and the process anyway.
>>
>>78305236
>it doesn't count because I say so
Coolio.
>>
>>78305236
>the Amazons being monstrous savages with realistically no hope of redemption whatsoever
Finch did that you bloody idiot, Azz just followed something called Greek mythology
>>
>>78305236
>Bullshit. Pretty much nobody liked Bryne's run.

Right they hated Byrne's ideas so much they kept them around for 16 years while constantly referencing them just to show everyone how much they hated them.
>>
>>78305236
Fuck, are you the same guy that complained on the JL thread when everyone was happy about the Big barda and Mister miracle part ?
>>
>>78305346
Nope Green Lantern was also absorbed into Superman editorial.
>>
>>78305413
This....
>>
>>78305564
Well actually the post I replied to said

>Before this WW was under a different editorial section that also included the Green Lantern books

But it's actually inaccurate. Azz's run was in the "Superman" office (I still don't know why anyone is calling it that when it's mostly just a second JL office, Superman doesn't havee nough ) too along with Demon Knights and some other things. Green Lantern was with Cunningham. The status now is that GL got moved to that group.
>>
>>78305780
Superman doesn't have enough books to be considered his own editorial group*

I should proofread

I think Idelson leaving is what caused some of the mixup.
>>
>>78305525
Which ideas? I only remember them keeping the idea of Hippolyta as Golden Age Wonder Woman.
>>
>>78305522
The Amazons didn't board boats and kill everyone on board in the myths. Azzarello made that shit up.

All they did in the myths was vist a neighboring tribe and picked up dudes as breeding stock/ They and the male children were sent off to live with this adjacent tribe, the Gargareans, when they were done with them.

>>78305525
People most certainly disliked his actual writing. Other people used his ideas in ways that didn't suck.
>>
>>78305525
The only thing from Byrne's Superman people liked was the personality thing of him being Clark Kent as the "real" identity.
>>
>>78305894
Wait was that anon talking about Byrne's Superman or Byrne's Wonder Woman? Cause with Byrne's Superman opinion was heavily divided and on top of that had tighter editorial control back then (it loosened up by the late 90's). I can't remember what he had in Wonder Woman that remained in place other than Hippolyta as Golden Age Wonder Woman.
>>
>>78302371

Only Wondy is crazy enough to travel to Man's World.
>>
>>78305986
Thought he was talking about Superman and what Byrne did with Krypton
>>
>>78306023
I wasn't sure just because Byrne worked on both and I thought the anon meant Byrne used a similar formula on Wonder Woman and also made Krypton a sterile lifeless society, and >>78305236 said
>Pretty much nobody liked Bryne's run.
Which I thought meant WW caused it really did have a mediocre reception as it went on.
His Superman was more popular but had divided opinions.
>>
>>78305780
>Azz's run was in the "Superman" office

Azz's run was under the office of Matt Idelson, which also handled Superman, but that is completely different from the current "all-male Supes office" that >>78303595 is talking about with its questionable history of harrassment which is run by Eddie Berganza.
>>
>>78301695
the coloring made me think that was Adam Hughes
>>
>>78301893
Eh, for some reason the only Diana that does anything for me is when she has straight hair, like in Hitman/JLA.

Her lips look great though.
>>
>>78305894
-The sterile Krypton was kept around until Birthright got rid of it completely. Previous attempts of retconning it such as Loeb-Kelley's were even retconned.
-The idea Lex Luthor as an criminal genius who is seen by the public as an upstanding businessman is still around (though that was more Marv Wolfman's idea). Currently in Nu52 Luthor is a member of the Justice League.
>>
>>78306144
I think I'm just thinking of it backwards then. To me the group is not completely different because the books that weren't cancelled are still there, but you see it as completely different because the editors got shuffled around.
>>
>>78305986
>>78306117
Yes, I was talking about Byrne's WW run.

Frankly, the only good things to come out of that were Golden Age Polly and Cassandra Sandsmark. It was otherwise dull and extremely forgettable. Eric Luke had a better outing for fucks sake.

Batman, Inc. and Swamp Thing are some of his more prominent DC works.

I like his work. A lot of chiaroscuro and sharply-defined planes of the face. I actually like his Swamp Thing stuff the best, because he had to adapt his style to horror, which is more interesting than the typical superhero-y cheesecakey stuff he tends to do.
