Aama, Incal, Metabarons, Lone Sloane, Nikopol trilogy, Blame, 70's Savage sword of Conan. Also check out the artists' other work: Wrenchies, Old City Blues, Jan's Atomic Heart, King City, Wonton Soup etc.
>>
>>78289535
Also: Zooniverse (which will be reprinted in Island), Valerian and Laureline, 8house, maybe Paul Pope's THB and McCarthy & Milligan's Freakwave... I'm sure 2000AD has lot's of stuff that's in the same vein but I'm not to familiar with them.
>>
You mean unfinished?
>>
When is the last bit of prophet being published? I know it's coming up but I can't remember what month
>>
>>78291307
Starting in January.
>>
TWO Prophet threads on /co/ at the same time, I never thought I'd see the day!

Maybe this place isn't so bad.

can you imagine how good this place could be if g00k actually created /capeshit/ and we were allowed to talk about other, good comics here. Also capeshit autocorrects to depravity on my phone kek
>>
>>78291452
I made both of them.
>>
>>78289370
Busiek and Nord's Conan is the closest thing I've read, followed closely by Metabarons, which is a very Jodorowsky series. Both fantastic.

Hiro's internet has been broken for about a month.

And when he does eventually come back, fixing /tv/ is first on his priority list, not /co/.
>>
I hope Brandon Graham shows up so I can call him a cuck and a faggot again.
>>
>>78291831
He's gone one dumbass tattoo on his neck I'll tell you that.
>>
And I'd recommend Fear Agent.
>>
>>78291882
I wouldn't.
>>
>>78291888
Shut up.
>>
>>78291911
It's quippy, unsubtle, in-your-face, sexualized, nothing that I think of when I think of Prophet.
>>
>>78291974
They're both space operas featuring lots of death, destruction, war, and very Conan-like protags fighting against evil empires. They are very similar if not exactly the same tonally.
>>
>>78292029
So it's only similar in the most basic, superficial sense? Gotcha.
>>
>>78292120
Did you get molested on top of a stack of Fear Agent comics or something?
>>
>>78292029
Sorry but they are literally nothing alike in tone. Fear Agent is a space comedy with some dark elements about alcoholism and being a family man, and Prophet is a space opera.
>>
>>78291831
>I hope Brandon Graham shows up so I can call him a buzzword and a buzzword again.
Just listen to yourself.
>>
>>78293178
>Fear Agent is a space comedy
Fear Agent has very little comedy actually. The story becomes serious pretty quickly and stays serious throughout with moments of comedy (like Prophet). And Fear Agent is a space opera too, you daffy shit. I've read and love both Prophet and Fear Agent so I'm not talking out of my ass when I say their similar in the themes I mentioned. If that's what interests OP the most then yes he should definitely read Fear Agent as well. If what he's looking for is the more visually-driven tone of Prophet with its looser-knit story then no, he probably shouldn't read Fear Agent (but he should read it anyways because it's great).
>>
>>78293178
>Fear Agent is a space comedy

What the fuck?
>>
>>78293445
Exactly. No one who has read Fear Agent from beginning to end would call it a space comedy.
>>
Someone want to enlighten me on this genre? I read the Metabarons thread the other day

Orbital is a great comic that is similar.

Yeah, those nubile young Johns made for fucking weren't sexual at all

If you like prophet read space barons.

I'm glad you read the two issues, but theres more
>>
>>78295923
The page drawn by Onta was pretty sexualized. One page.

In Fear Agent, the women are jutting their hips and thrusting out their chests every time you see them.
>>
>>78301567
Also John fucked that space alien pretty sexually. And not to mention the phallic imagery inherent in every pen stroke of James Stokoe's art.

You've never read it, how would you know?

>>
would you a brain mother
>>
>>78302404
Oh I love that sweet Euroesque prophet
>>
>>78302300
>how flawless and amazing your immeasurably perfect comic is, farn.

That wasn't even part of the original argument. What the fuck?
>>
>>78302458
Yes.
>>
Is John Ka female?
>>
>>78306334
I don't remember who that is but there are female Johns.
>>
>>78305927
The original argument is that Fear Agent is similar to Prophet because they both have "space" and "violence".

Which, while technically true, is a bad reason to suggest one to fans of the other. So they must think that Fear Agent is THE BEST COMIC EVER and try to shove it into every thread even when it doesn't belong.
>>
>>78306368
What I don't get is why there are a shit ton of twink Johns but no sexy female Johns.
>>
>>78306391
You think John Hu and John Ka aren't sexy? What a shame.
>>
>>78306368
the one with the giant bug
i'm surprised there's no specific wiki or wikipedia article for the new Prophet
>>
>>78306483
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prophet_%28comics%29

I'm sure it'll get expanded when the movie comes out.
>>
>>78306391
There are several incredibly sexy female Johns.
>>
>>78306561
Post one.
>>
>>78306537
I think the movie, at least the pitch Rob is going around with,. is a combination of the Extreme version and Brandon/Simon's version
>>
>>78306580
Gimme a second to dig through my .cbr's.
>>
>>78306386
That's not what happened.
OP likes Prophet, asks other people that liked It for things that are similar that they enjoyed. Other people say they like the first to Prophet and also this Fear Agent. Some dumbass comes and says Fear Agent isn't enough like first Prophet and then makes up bullshit about the genre of Fear Agent. People call him out on it and then he claims they're all acting like Fear Agent is the greatest thing ever.

Alright, the art's rough, but John Hu is a female and has the whole amazon thing going on.
I'll try and find an issue with John Ka in it next.
>>
>>78306702
I was thinking more of John specifically made for sexual reasons. There are male versions of that John type but not female as far as we've seen.
>>
>>78306741
Oh yeah, we don't see many of them. Seems like when the Johns want females they go pick up some aliens.
Inborn Captain Kirk instincts maybe?
>>
Old Man Prophet and the original Prophet are not the same, right?

Maybe the point is so they don't breed? Your choices are alien poontang or clone ass
>>
>>78306826
No, he's another Prophey clone. I think he's just the oldest living Prophet.
>>
>>78306826
I think he was the first one shown in the reboot.
>>
>>78306826
No. Old Man Prophet was just a clone like all the rest, but decided to rebel.

>>78306826
No, pretty sure the original Prophet has been seen dead
>>
>>78306862
Yeah, that could be likely. We see the Star Mother's freak out about those wild-proto humans that the one rogue John had bred, so it would make sense that they don't want the Johns knocking each other up.
Odds are that so long as the Johns can only propagate through cloning they have control over how they turn out.
>>
>>78306888
I vaguely remember another Image comic bringing up the Prophet cloning, I think it was Glory.
Does anybody know how in-depth they get with that?
>>
When is Supreme going to get the Prophet treatment? I know Ellis was writing that Blue Rose shit but I thought it was water trash.
>>
>>78291572
thise issues overlap though
/cpsht/ would effect /tv/ as well
>>
>>78306958
It may have just been a passing reference since the authors of both titles are buddies
>>
>>78306987
Well he is dead in the Prophet timeline, something about his body parts being used to power an alien ship. I need to reread Prophet before Earth War
>>
>>78307003
I remember that we got a page where some mysterious faceless agents open up there underground vault revealing thousands of Prophets floating in tubes, it looked like a big reveal.
>>
>>78307022
I meant a book like the Glory reboot. But that was an awesome reveal. His corpse with his shattered face being used as a generator.
>>
Metabarons is essentially tonally and visually the closest thing I've seen to Prophet. They're both space operas that border on the realms of fantasy about a line of badass warriors.
>>
>>78308842
Honestly, your best bet to find works similar to Prophet is to look for stuff that's similar to Conan. John Prophet is pretty much explicitly stated to be Conan, and Graham's always been a fan of Jodorowsky's shit, so Metabarons is a dead ringer.
>>
>>78309309
Throw in some Warlord of Mars as well. Really, Prophet is pretty much a combination of pulpy sci-fi and fantasy and space operas and all that jazz.
>>
>>78289370
Literally 90% of Euro comics.
More so anything by Jodorowsky or Moebius.
