It's not a "character's best story" thread though.
But if you want to call Alan Moore's run on Superman the best on the character then that counts.
Basically the concept is "which writer's work on the character was best". Hence JMS being the best Silver Surfer "run" even though it was just 4 issues. It was still the peak though and I'd assume most of /co/ agrees.

Mark Millar's Superman Adventures run is the best Superman run ever written.

I remember buying those books when they hit the shelf of my LCS, waaaaay back in the day.
They were so different, so much better, than anything else on the shelves, it was like they were in a league of their own.

I'm re-reading this again and it's pretty fucking good. But 52 might still be better.
BKV had the best run on The Hood. I wish more stuff was done with him in that vein.
I really liked Carey on Constantine but if you disagree that's fine.
Daredevil is really hard. I like Bendis best but the first half of Brubaker (Devil in Cell Block D up to the Mr. Fear storyline) was unbelievably good. And of course Miller is amazing too. Waid up until whats-his-face was also great.
What was the best Spider-Man run? I haven't read too much of him (started more or less with JMS up to end of Grim Hunt, with a couple of oneshots/famous arcs in between).
So far ahead of everything else that it's still probably the greatest cape run(s) of all time.

Peter David's run is great but most of the lore got recon out. I personally enjoyed the Sub Diego story by Will Pfeifer. You can't go wrong with Geoff Johns
now. If you want classic Aquaman then read anything drawn by Jim Aparo and written by Paul Kupperberg. There's a nice mini series that retakes Aquaman's origins by Keith Giffen called The Legend of Aquaman, it was a fun book.
