Peppermint Patty didn't make any sense at the end of the movie.
She spends the whole film horning after Chuck, openly flirting with him and swooning at him when he isn't looking.
Then, at the end, when Chuck gets the Little Red Haired Girl, Peppermint Patty congratulates him on a job well done alongside all the other kids. It's like the writers forgot she was in love with him throughout the movie or something.

Peppermint Patty and Marcie are two of the best characters, though really they're all good, the situation around the comic is sad, and a lot of the comics are like that along with the fun ones, the Peanuts VN thing is mostly a joke, but it'd probably be funny, and those videos are hilarious.

An unauthorized off-broadway play with the Peanuts cast as teens. Since it's unauthorized, all of the cast basically are given nicknames or new names in the case of Pigpen.
Basically the plot is that everyone's teenagers and Snoopy just died. Lucy is in an insane asylum, having (off-camera) been convicted of attempted murder of the Little Red Headed Girl.
Pigpen in the villain; no longer filthy, he's been made over as a homophobic jock who's fucking Peppermint Patty and Marcie, who are his bitches. Pigpen's favorite victim is Schroeder, who's a faggot.
Charlie Brown seeks comfort for his dog's death from his friends but no one gives a fuck. Including Linus, who's now a degenerate pot head and Sally, who is a wigger. Schroeder's the only one who will offer any sort of sympathy and since the play is written by SJWs, Charlie Brown suddenly decides he's a fag and not only announces that he and Schroeder are going out, but also lets Schroeder fuck him in the ass.
Pigpen accuses Schroeder of trying to exploit Charlie Brown's grief and turn Charlie Brown gay. Schroeder responds by referring to Pigpen as Pigpen (which he hates) and Pigpen breaks Schroeder's hands. Schroeder promptly kills himself and Pigpen gets ten days suspension for the attack.
Charlie Brown visits Lucy in juvie, where she finds out that Schroeder is a faggot and admits that she tried to kill the Red Headed Girl out of jealousy because she loves Charlie Brown. Charlie goes home and finds out Schroeder's dead and gets a letter from his pen pal, who he wrote at the start of the play regarding Snoopy's death, telling him to not abandon hope.

It's quite common for people with severe depression to act like Chuck. It can be really aggravating for everyone around them and that only makes things worse, especially if the person with depression is aware of how they're alienating people but can't seem to stop themselves from acting that way, leading to further isolation as they try not to bother anyone.
His friends do love him though. I've always liked this song from the 20th anniversary special. I wish I could find the animation that goes with it.

Bingo. The kids are 10 but capture the angst of being teens. The dogs are dogs but capture the imagination and confusion of being, say, an 8-year-old kid.
It's basically a strip about coming to terms with depression and frustration, yet it's still endearing and likable—somehow.
It's an incredibly hard thing to pull off, and Schulz did it well at least through the 1980s.
(In the 90s it got a little too twee and charming... Rerun became too major, and was characterized as younger than even the dogs, so his problems weren't very relatable.)
