This show is honestly insanely disappointing. And the whole thing about it being an Archer clone is spot on.
The characters are obnoxiously 1 dimensional and it ruins the show. If they had taken a more serious tone with the characters and simply played off the absurdity of the setting the show would be a 10/10. Movies like Turbo kid, and games like blood dragon show exactly how to make this concept work, the characters are 100% in the context of the world and you get immersed into it yourself, making the comedy more meaningful and actually funny.
But the creators chose to go the Archer route and make every single character a 1 note gag that you burn out on by the third episode. The difference being that at least in archer the farcical characters still behave like actual humans and this you can get invested in their stories.
TL;DR the show doesn't take itself seriously enough to actually be funny.

No real redeeming features other than the art style. The series had potential - neon 80s retro culture with comedy cop hi-jinks, a celebration and parody of 80s TV and movie culture, with a splash of sex and violence. Unfortunately the series was wrecked by the Archer comparison, bad writing, short cast of characters and fairly linear characterizations.
The 1st, 4th, and last episodes were what the series should have been. Unfortunately the rest were pretty bad. I would like to see a second season to see if they can at least get the pacing down right and continue but I feel as if CC has already began the process to put the series down.

But archer's characters were more than 1 dimensional. Far more. How is moonbeam an archer clone if it holds those differences? In MBC none really act like people, everyones just fucked and absurd. Archer relies more on character banter and irony in relatively realistic situations.
It started out really bad. Then it good toward the last 6 or so episodes. The more recent ones were good. I actually want a season 2 in the hopes that the writing will have substantially improved.

The art is fucking amazing, but it really feels like more went into the art then the writing.
I like the show. The first episode did nothing for me, but I gave a few more episodes a shot and I don't regret it. I really think that towards the end of the season, the show started finding itself a little more, and became more enjoyable, but I just don't see it getting a season 2.
Being Rad is suffering.
Moonbeam City would have been a 3-5 minute segment on Mad TV.

Not much. Jokes generally weren't that funny and the good ones were to far in between which is rather inexcusable for a comedy show.
The music was good and voice talent was great. Especially the guest VAs. But none of that really matters if the jokes are meh-tier most of the time.
