Why don't people like this movie again? I thought it was better than How to Train your Dragon.
>>
Well, it wasn't.
>>
It made six hundred and fifty million dollars on the movie alone, before factoring in any other revenue sources. Plenty of people liked it just fine. I personally didn't care for it just because it didn't juggle being a movie about a boy and his robot, a boy and his super hero team, and also a seemingly unrelated revenge plot very well. It was all over the place.
>>
Clunky as hell, exposition dialogue, unmemorable characters (I'll give you Baymax, though,) weak transition into super hero film (no vibes, aside from the title) and utterly slapped on ending.

The whole thing just felt like it went through five writers who all had great concepts but didn't explore any of them. Whenever something happened on screen, I felt NOTHING at all, no emotional impact whatsoever.

Character dies, nothing.
Transition into superheroes, nothing.

Nerd characters all of a sudden now become superheroes because fuck consistency. Every single decision/twist in this film was not even surprising, yet the film sort of banked on these.

Just wasted potential in my opinion. Although, I've heard the comic is worse.

Go see the movie before talking out of your ass.
>>
>>78094835
It's not.
>>
It's a very solidly-constructed movie, but also a very safe one that doesn't do anything interesting.
>>
>>78094835
It won an Academy Award instead of a Studio Ghibli film, and that means we must hate it.

She is the most annoying looking female character I've ever seen,

Was it really that small on her model? Porn has warped my perception of her.
>>
>>78095358
It was probably bigger in the movie and they made it smaller for the stock art.

They did the same thing with Helen's breasts in The Incredibles. She's stacked in the movie, yet they tone it down a lot in the stock art.

The only worthwhile girl in this movie was his aunt.

>>78095272
luckily, you haven't seen Scarlet Overkill in the motherfucking minions
>>
>>78094835

But they do, don't you remember 'hiro is the best disney princess' threads?
>>
>>78094968
I did. And I instantly forgot I had watched it later that day.

And everything I've said above is exactly what I thought when watching it. I've seen it several times and my opinion hasn't changed.
>>
bullshit, do not even suggest that bh6 is better, its not
>>
hiro > hiccup
>>
>>78094835
They're both interesting concepts but How to Train your Dragon had a better story, a better score and is overall a better movie. BH6 looks good and starts good but becomes too all over the place fast.
I did like that the climax of the movie involved not beating up a bad guy but saving a person. That is heroic.

I liked it. It was a good "Boy and his robot" movie, but a lousy superhero movie. Them being a superhero team at the end didn't really make much sense DESU, and it felt forced into the plot.

I liked Hiro and was interested in his story, but there were just too many characters with his friends to really develop any of them well.

Gogo was the worst. She had, like, what, three lines of dialogue with Hiro? Hiro and Honey Lemon had the best chemistry, and I would have preferred it if the movie had just focused on them, but since they inherited the premise from a largely forgotten comic book, they were kind of stuck.

>DESU?!

Uhh... are all acronyms auto-replaced with DESU now? Hold on, lemme try something.

OMG

I disagree. All of those story elements came together in the climax and followed the same theme. It was about dealing with grief 100% of the time, and each of those elements you described were the Impact character/mentor, helpers and the antagonist -- all tied together by representing the three sides of dealing with grief. Baymax had the ability to listen and just be there, (which was the the ultimate solution ) friends were able to give hope and support and the antagonist was a warning of what happens if you choose anger over acceptance.

>>78094835

Overrated as hell, predictable story, only the boy and the fat robot are important, bland as fuck villain, and that stupid "hurr killing is bad even though the asshole deserves it" moral.

Not to mention it getting a world in Kingdom Hearts 3 before longer awaited ones.
>>
>>78097297
>I hate it because it's popular
>>
It would've been better if they focused more on hiro coping with grief and less on 'dude we're going to be superheroes this is so cool' but it was still enjoyable
>>
They could've removed the entire team other than Hiro and the movie would've improved significantly. Ending felt weak as hell, especially since the bad guy get his kid back.
>>
>>78094835

I loved it. Not as good as Wreck it Ralph, but damn good nonetheless.

I could watch the scene where Baymax btreaks the sound barrier and flies through the city over and over again and for what it's worth, the action scenes in this were pretty great. I'll give you the clunky exposition, but I got a kick out of a bunch of the other stuff.

I actually liked Break-It Billy since at least it felt original.

It is far superior to how to change your dragon, but the aspies that roam here would disagree only because of their waifu being that blonde chick.
