I don't ship but I still get annoyed when that happens. Inserting someone as a love interesting rather than using a character who already exists is just terrible and bland. It also almost always adds someone who never gets fucking developed because the romantic interest is pretty much just their purpose.

If they want to give them romantic interests then they should set it up ahead of time like Katara/Aang or Steven/Connie so the audience can actually feel some sort of joy that two developed characters did hook up.
I personally liked the secondary character pairings rather than the main focused one like Shego/Drakken instead of a Kim/Ron or Varrick/Zhu Li instead of any kind of Katara/Aang or Korra/Asami
