Other than the clunky continuity stuff, is Austen's material in NXM better than his Uncanny stuff? I feel like we've had more straight-up superhero action in this NXM issues.
This sequence is cool. Polaris is not crazy anymore. Juggy and iceman had some cool team-up moments in the last arc. It's not so bad.

Bogan basically was all of Claremont's BDSM themes taking to their high octane nightmare fuel extreme to the point that it stopped being kink and became snuff porn.
Basically a gender fluid female psychic who transcended her physical form, and spent her days possessing people and basically raping and torturing and forcing people to do sick, deviant Cenobites in Hellraiser style sexual shit.
One of her biggest gags was seducing kids to basically sell their parents out to be raped and tortured and defiled physically until they were nothing more than snarling, irreversibly insane torture slaves who maim and kill anyone who they come into contact with.
This basically is Austin giving fans what they wanted, Annie and her evil fucking hellspawn going off to a fate worse than death. Cunt will WISH she got sucked into the Lamanent Configuration after Bogan got ahold of her.

Sales being in the shitter with the move to a new book not helping
And the whole Avengers run debacle which alienated so many fans, that they had to fire him and put Bendis on the book, after the damage Austen did to it with his Pym bashing and god-awful new Captain Britain waifu who no one liked basically taking over the book for like six months.

Basically by this point, Austen had burnt every bridge he could at Marvel and he quit the X-Men before he could get fired and moved to DC, where he was given both a Superman book to write and six issues writing JLA, when the book was rendered a glorified filler book with big names writing mini-arcs on it.

Rachel Summers got freed from Bogan, but Bogan escaped. Selene showed up and with Bogan's help, mindfucked Magma into turning Bogan's HQ into a volcano, to destroy all evidence of exactly how deeply involved Bogan was with the Hellfire Club and what Hellfire Club folk (like Empath) were actively betraying the X-Men and helping Bogan fuck with them.
Had Whedon not fucked Claremont over, I'm quite sure we would have seen Bogan reappear in Uncanny since Claremont was building up Sat-Yr-9 becoming Bogan's new pawn in rebuilding the Hellfire Club.

It was worse. He fucking had Jan Pym make up false instances of spousal abuse regarding Hank EXPLICITYLY to scorch earth Hank and Hawkeye's friendship, just so she could finally fuck Clint. And Austen REPEATEDLY said that Jan was justified because Hank hit her once and as such, was far game for such vile slander.
Captain Britain was a woman who got disfigured by a thug while her husband pissed his pants like a coward and then left her high and dry while she was in the hospital, with several kids left to raise by herself. She was shown to be much stronger than Brian, though curse in that "she could never tell her kids she was Captain Britain" and forcing Cap (who failed to save her from getting killed, hence becoming Cap Britain, into basically raising her kids as a guilt tripped male nanny.
Then there was the rumors about Avengers Disassembled and that it was all actually an Austen story Bendis had to rewrite with little to no prep time after he was fired. Supposedly, if you believe the rumors, Scarlet Witch and the bullshit "reveal" that she was the villain, was entirely due to the fact that Hank was the original villain in the Austen version of Avengers Disassembled. With Hank purposely killing off Carol and She-Hulk as part of the story to hammer home the notion that Hank is a wife beating woman hating monster, so you would "cheer" for Jan beating the shit out of him at the end of the story when they defeat him.
