I'm going to assume that it has to do with Derpy's original voice. You may not be familiar but in MLP one of the background ponies had a following, and in one episode the pony was given a speaking role. It was a girl horse but the voice actress thought it was a boy horse and gave it a bit of an odd voice. Some of the fans liked it, other didn;t and said it represented the mentally feeble. The comic artist was probably on the mentally feeble side
zoophobia is absolute garbage and I the creator's eh. It was fun at first, but the creator lacks the aptitude to really turn it into anything interesting past teenage drama.

Anyways I hate to say it, this person has a pretty good grasp on things. The plot is horrible fanfiction tier and so are the OCs... but for a beginner the pacing isn't bad, panels are good, and the expressions are great. Sometimes very sloppy and poorly executed, but they get a lot of emotion across.
