Steph is best Batgirl, New Batman Adventures best costume
Cassandra.
60s Batgirl
>>78020736
Though I like all three. It's not like the Robins where I honestly don't like one or two. All three have their traits that I enjoy. It's just I enjoy Cassandra more.
Aesthetically
Year One Babs.
As a character Cassandra
Best girl.
Best girl in best costume.
>>78021655
>Best girl.
You won't say that after Harper takes all spotlight.
>>78021223
>you will never fuck a Jewy, rubber-clad Batgirl
>>78022385
>you will never fuck anyone
FTFY.
>>78022385
Her costume was rubber?
Cass in Babs' old costume is wonderful, too.
>>78021884
Who?
Cass is best, Babs has her moments. Steph is shit tier thanks to all the retcons and hamfisted handling of making her Batgirl.
I like Batgirl of Burnside the most.
>>78022883
Simone run was so depressing and dark.
>>78017777
Barbara in general, but I rather like the one in All-Star Batman and Robin.

>ASBAR gets shit on all the time

Why
>>78017777
Cassandra Cain is the only time when Batgirl was genuinely cool.
As for the best costume, I actually liked the one in Simone's horrible nu52 run. Too bad it was in such a terminally shitty comic.
Both.
Steph for best Batgirl
>>78021375
This and The New Batman Adventures costume are probably my favorite ones.
>>78023988
I think Miller intended that comic as slap-stick humor but it didn't translate well. For the people who took it seriously, of course they'll find the writing atrocious. It was funny though.
>>78022932
I would love to hear Simone's pitch for Batgirl and what her editor expected from that book. The decision to leave TKJ in some sort of continuity was a disaster, but nobody knew what the fuck they were doing right after FP.
>>78017777
Nice get OP.
Cassandra is my favorite because she is the most highly trained and the only one that is logically competent enough to operate on her own.
Trans Batgirl when?
>>78024819
i thought the whole point was to make 'less' roles for white men.
>>78024751
Simone's Batgirl was so bad. I'm half convinced that the shit quality was intentional that backfired on her because all the review sites loved it. I mean, the first chance she got to write an out of continuity story in Sensation she put Oracle in it.
>>78024844
>white
>men
Excuse the fuck out of you, you privileged shitlord.
>>78024867
I want to believe this is true, but remember the first time Editorial tried to take her off of it? She threw a goddamn twitter fit, and there was a whole uproar about it, and DC caved to pressure and kept her on.
>>78024946
I remeber something happening, but I thought it was more other people than her. Do have have any screencaps?
Cassandra for both categories.
>>78024867
She also wrote oracle in convergence nighwing
>>78025053
New editor on book, promptly fired Simone via e-mail. Simone then Twitter rages and her followers join in. It was two years ago around this time actually.
>>78024751
>that fucking pic
That's hilarious.
>>78024819
A Trans Batgirl would be better than what Barbara is right now.
>>78025762
And unedited. Simone's run was good for unintentional hilarity.
>>78025240
>I'm Barbara fucking Gordon
>I'm Black fucking Canary
>>78025792
I wish I had some pages of James Jr. almost fucking that tranny.
>>78025792
Wasn't Simone's run "Ow my edge" level of dark?
>>78024819
I don't know about that, but with blue eyes and green-tinted glasses, this bitch would be a dead ringer for Carrie Kelly
>>78025829
You bet!
>>78025792
>I'm so hardcore I painted a vague, generic slogan on our wall in poorly done block letters
>This is my character introduction
>A writer thought this was enough to establish my character
>>78025797
Dinah introduction was pretty nice.
>>78025870
The narration boxes should have read "What a fucking lunatic. If I call Bruce now, can I have my own place by dusk?"
Being a vigilante with a roommate sounds like it would be practically impossible, anyway, unless Babs' cover was that she was a bare-knuckle boxing champ.
I wonder how long Cass has been not working for the Mother and Orphan since her old costume still fits perfectly?
>>78025851
>pointing your gun at a superhero
>not pointing your gun at the MURDERER WHO IS STILL IN THE ROOM
This is trash.
>>78026696
Why do you hate women?
>>78025915
I didn't like it.
>>78017777
Babs. BTAS costume.
>>78017777
Cass for both, but at her best I like Oracle Babs even more.
Silver/Bronze Age Babs was cool too. Plus BG Year One was great.
Stephanie was fine, but she was always better as Spoiler.
Her stint as Batgirl stripped a lot of what made her character.
Favourite incarnation right here
Jena Malone (who is appearing in BvS) is rumoured to be Batgirl/Oracle

Pretty much
I remember when Cass could beat up any number of brainwashed ballerina assassins.
>>78028982
Amazing run
Pity we won't get this in the new universe. David seems cut and dry again. All monster, not just a tiny glimmer of humanity.
>>78031372
Not to mention what they did to Shiva. Christ.
>>78031456
Well on the bright side next month? A new reprinted trade come's out. Reprinting the start of an amazing run.
Cassandra Cain on all fields.

>>78032395

>>78032395
>>78032864
Kinda looks like Nu52 Bab's first costume. Probably where the inspiration came from.
>>78031372
Don't forget that he's addicted to Fear Toxin.
That whole church fight was stupid as hell. I kept thinking "Why is he trying to talk her to death? The old David Cain would have done his talking with his fists!"
>>78022413
No this one was >>78021223
>>78033483
We still don't know if it's fully him or not. Not to mention whomever the kid "Batman" killed in #1.
>>78034117
>We still don't know if it's fully him or not
Fully or at all. The name David has not been mentioned even once. Only hint that Random Ninja Guy is even related to that role is one vague line of dialogue about how he "made" her.
If he's meant to be David, fuck this universe, and if David doesn't exist, fuck this universe, but all the cards are not on the table yet.
>>78034117
I am hoping like hell to be wrong.
>>78024751
Simone didn't even want the book to be so grimdark and crossovery all the time but the bateditor before Doyle was pushing for it and uniformity. That's one reason why most batbooks before Doyle got fucked in the ass by crossovers and were tonally similar.
>>78035244
Just about everything else was also terrible about that book.

Editorial maybe
>>78044890
>trained the same way as Cass
If that were even close to being true, then Harper would not have been able to take on even single ballerina mind-slave and should have gone down instantly to a small group.
>>78048202
Harper is our special snowflake.
And avoid next Batman Eternal. "Batman saw something in you, Harper". Fuck off.
>>78048202
That's why Cass was there to even the odds
>>78043924
To be fair, a few seconds before that, Shiva -had- tried to rip her lungs out.
>>78048202
There are a lot of people who've been trained as Cass, but none of them have ever matched up. Even the roided-up chicks in Beechen's shitty last attempt to ruin Cass were consistently not good enough.
>>78048430
I preferred the version where Cain's previous attempts died. It doesn't do Cass any good for a bunch of shittier versions of herself running around.
>>78048865
It seriously makes no fucking sense for him to continue trying. He went to jail and stopped trying to build a better warrior, because he'd succeeded, and his daughter wanted him to stop being bad.

Beechen just straight up did not care. He was told by editorial to write Cass out, didn't really care one way or another, did a shitty job, fans got mad so DC made him try and fix it, but he still didn't give a shit and did it grudgingly with as little effort as possible.

No, the head ballerina was trained the same way. She was one of Mother's "best". Hence why she was able to go toe-to-toe with Cass.
The rest were just brutes like the ones who attacked Bruce, Dick, Babs, and WaR, yet seemed to endlessly respawn when Cass and Harper faced them.

Cass and Cass
>>78056728
It's funny how I always think her mask will suffocate her but I don't have problem with Spider-Men.
>>78056751
It's probably because of the stitching calling attention to the fact that it wasn't originally designed as a full facemask.
>>78056781
Yeah, probably that.
Any reason why she's not having lower half of face revealed like everyone else?
>>78056797
the costume used to belong to Huntress who ate a face full of spray paint and then stitched it up
this was during no mans land so they really didn't have access to their A seamstress
>>78056797
Helena Bertinelli originally created the costume during No Man's Land, and the eye and mouth coverings were to protect against spray weapons.
Cass kept it presumably because it looked ninja as shit.
>>78056963
>>78056996
So there is reason. Thanks anons.
>>78048899
I swear Cass and David's relationship is the best, cutest yet still most fucked up thing ever.
The stuff he did to her was HORRIBLE but Ive seen less love in sane families. Cain would probably take a bullet to the face for his baby girl
Best girl: Cass
Best costume: Steph

One of the things I loved about Cass how her family was still alive and she was fighting her legacy, which was one of the many ways she was the exact opposite of Bruce.
Not sure is she counts she is my second favorite bat lady. I miss her.
Batman Beyond Babs
>>78058134
It's the Orphan, and Orphan is already shit despite having appeared in like three issues only.
Also BR&E just now had two issues in a row without Cass in it. WTF DC?
Also, do I remember wrong or didn't the early interviews say Spoiler was going to appear in this comic? Because 10 issues in, she has been seen once and done literally nothing.
>>78059428
I always loved how incredibly fucked up David's relationship with his daughter was. How even though he spent her childhood doing his best to kill her, he still has this weird, gnarled little attachment to her that you could almost call "love" if we didn't have video evidence of him shooting her when she was 6.
>>78059572
>It's the Orphan,
That is the obvious thing, but I am hoping like hell that I am wrong.
>she has been seen once and done literally nothing.
Technically a true statement since she was seen in the series. I think they forgot about her in the Batcave. Hopefully Alfred is feeding her.
>>78059606
It IS love. David loves his little girl. Everything he did was to make her strong.
>>78059525
Yeah
>>78059657
There's room for a twist. But I don't think they have the self-awareness for a twist. The last time everyone thought they were going for an obvious twist, we got Cass as a Robin villain.
>>78060036
And if Orphan isn't David Cain, then what the fuck is he? Some random ninja they had hanging around?
>>78059663
>>78059606
If I was writing a Cass story, David would show up halfway through for a midboss fight "to make sure his little girl was keeping in shape" or he would blow Tim's head off with a booby trap or something. After beating him, he and Cass would hug, then she would tell him to be sure to go back to jail.

I presume Kate's creation in 52 was to make the news as an openly gay character. I wasn't reading comics at the time, so I have no idea how they glossed over Montoya, who was already gay and in the same comic.

Yeah. It's a messed up logic and a bad analogy I admit but I liken it too a father helping his kid learn to box or play football.
If you want them to be any good at all you wouldn't not tackle or punch them. You'd hit them hard because that's how they're gonna learn to play.
David was training her to be the greatest fighter and assassin. He's gonna shoot or stab her a few times.

Alex Ross?
>>78037461
>Stray Bat
>>78079233
Yes that costume was mean for Barbara before Kate was created
>>78079937
In the late 1990s, artist/painter Alex Ross took a stab at redesigning the costume of Barbara Gordon AKA the classic Batgirl. Ross was working on a new Batgirl proposal with Paul Dini, who has been one of the showrunners behind many of DC’s animated series and films, including the famous Batman: The Animated Series. Dini and Ross proposed a story that restored Barbara Gordon to her role of Batgirl, which she had left behind in the late 1980s due to an injury that rendered her a paraplegic. Barbara Gordon would regain her ability to walk and would sport an updated costume, one darker and more in keeping with the moody atmosphere of Batman’s stories. The new costume greatly resembled the Bat uniform featured in the cartoon Batman Beyond, which began airing in 1999 and of which Paul Dini was a producer.
DC Comics decided not to go with the proposal. Since losing her ability to walk, Barbara Gordon had dealt with her disability and now operated as a character called Oracle, aiding not only Gotham heroes and the Justice League, but also acting as coordinator for the heroes known as the Birds of Prey. DC felt that having such a strong, disabled character in their fictional universe outweighed the chance to see her become a costumed vigilante again. A new Batgirl would be introduced in 1999 with a distinctly different outfit.
