So if Swerve DID sell high-grade Energon, Brainstorm WOULD have killed everyone at the bar, right?
It just happens that he didn't ONLY cause Swerve was being cheap and had diluted drinks.
Well he did say that he never pulled the trigger directly at anyone. Killing millions of others through weapons he's made, however? Yeah, he doesn't give a fuck.
>implying Brainstorm didn't know that the drinks were diluted already from drinking himself there for months.
>implying he would actually kill all his crew mates.
...Then again, he did want to just erase everyone and everything. So his plan was a little wishy washy. I guess if nobody was going to be on the Lost Light anyway, since it would never be there in the first place, then he wasn't planning on feeling bad because he wasn't going to be around to care anyway.
Can we just move on from the gay transformers already?
We get it, the rainbow brigade won and heterosexuality's a sin, can't we do something that's actually fun?
>>77998056
>something that's actually fun?
Like the DJD coming in and murdering everyone horribly and then Megatron switching sides again? I'm ready for that.
I want a big Tran vs Megatron show down. Then Prime comes into somehow and we can all get back on track.
I do indeed miss Megatron vs Prime. Which is weird since that's what it's always been for the past 30 years.
There's nothing wrong with killing people for love.
>>77997740
Nah, it was just a slam.
As Brainstorm points out, he was only trying to incapacitate folks.

>>78003501
Rodimus just got the message that Drift's back.
No wait, that Cyclonus is dead. And that makes Megatron happy to see the how ironic it is that there is so much backstabbing and lying within the Autobot ranks.

>>77997740
Technically, if everyone would have died, it would have been SWERVE'S fault. Brainstorm placed the poison in the drinks, thinking they were pure energon. Swerve was the one being a cheap ass, and adding water to them. So that made the poison/energon ratio wrong.
>>78008547
We'll no, it would still be Brainstorm's fault everyone died cause he's still the one poisoning the drinks. If you really want to blame Swerve for something, it's technically his fault everyone survived...unless Brainstorm knew and did intend everyone to live.

>>78016196
Roller. The other guys of Starscream, Thrust, and Breakdown are dead guys.
>>78016196

Jesus.
>>78016234
Prevailing theory. Personally I think it's so obvious that I hope it's subverted in some way.
>>78016620
>You forgot who Roller/Tarn was because there was a toy in the image?
>Jesus.
There was no context with the image, just the picture and a vague mention of Tarn/Roller. Not everyone knows what you /toy/faggots do so quit being a cunt.
>>78016810
>vague mention
>Didn't Roller simply become Tarn instead of die?
It is a complete question and one that can be answered without context of the picture. For example, I didn't need to look at the /toy/ thread to answer that yes, according to the comics, most people think that Roller became Tarn.
Ya cunt.

>Implying the structure of the post implies that
>>78016929
well someone's awfully bitchy

>>78016986
The structure of the post implies that there's a toy-related reason that the poster is asking a comic-related question. This is the place to ask comic-related questions.
>>78017143
Exactly. That post is off-theme for the board and should not exist.
>>78017193
It's much like using a live-action reaction image on /co/: Text of this post > Image of this post.
The comic question has a higher relevancy to this thread than to the /toy/ thread.
>>78017462
Yes but no one here would know why that dude was asking if Roller was dead. Its retarded.
>>78017494
Usually, people can give an answer to Transformers-related questions without needing to know why the person is asking.
"Who is Tarn?" is a question that gets brought up on here from time to time. If someone who's only somewhat familiar with the comic thinks Tarn might be Roller, it would be a good idea to ask the /co/ thread if Roller is dead or became Tarn, to see what the people who've read the comic think.
>>78017743
That information has not been given officially yet and writer can back out of what is truth until written.
Pointless to ask.
>>78017964
It is pointless to ask for the official word on it, but not pointless to ask for popular opinion according to canon clues. Speculation is most of what we can do until we get to the next issues. I still expect (hope) Roberts will back out of Tarn=Roller, just because it's too obvious of a route.
Yeah, the post's goal was to confirm and not ask for theories, but he probably didn't know that the best we can offer is guesswork.

>>78027838
No it's getting a comic continuation called "Till all are one".
It will likely be terrible too.
So I just heard the most interesting TF trivia fact. Bay wanted Cloony to voice OP in the movies, but then the fanbase threw a huge fit back in 2007 and demanded Cullen instead.
Cullen went on to say how cool his fans were that they picked an old guy like him over the World's Sexyest Man three times over.

How did he die? Oh, by a couple of miniguns by some nameless guards on the ship. Yeah...it wasn't much of a fight since they shot him in his back.
Makes me wonder why he said Goodbye to Tailgate. He had to know this wasn't going to kill him all the other shit before didn't.
>>78032679
Because he did die. The ones there are shoot to kill and his spark was weakened from needing to jumpstart Tailgate.
>>78032843
If he did, that it's without a doubt the most bullshit, anticlimactic death in the series so far.
Fucking Aquafend and Boss. Seriously, even nobodies in this comic have had more impressive deaths
>>78032944
He died protecting Tailgate from being used as a tool for frame job.
>>78031139
That reminds me, can anyone reupload Generation 2 Redux? The one on the Mega appears corrupted to me.
>>78033064
I just feel really incredulous about the fact that the triggers were pulled by "literally whos"?
If it was Megatron himself who shot Cyclonus, I'd have an easier time thinking he was dead...or even if it was Getaway or Atomizer, since the whole thing was their ideaI'm just making excuses to believe he's still alive, aren't I?
>>78033146
Well, think of it this way
If a named character killed him, he'd be 100% dead
If a no name character did it, which is what happened, it's a 50/50There, now cling onto that excuse
>>78033146
No, cause he IS. Well, he may literally be dead at this very moment, but with whatever Tailgate is doing, he'll be alive again. OR they both die, in which case, that will be ok. Have them both be dead and make sure happy.
If Roberts really wanted us to think he was dead dead is he should have not had the final panel. Let the issue end with Cyclonus on the ground with Tailgate calling out his name. Fade to black. THAT would have upset me. But as it stands I was very "meh" towards the ending cause I know that Cyc is ok.
>>78033146
You only consider those characters literally whos because they have not had focus yet. It isn't out of the realm of possibility that the next issue focuses on them and has them on edge over Megatron, hostile actions, and then trying to escape an explosive lightshow from a white mini-bot ad then trying to piece together what just happened so they can file report on it while they find out that there is a planet-sized ship approaching.
I seriously can't believe that anyone thinks Cyclonus is really dead. There is no way, he has been through waaaaay too much shit previously EVEN taking into account that his spark might be weakened. I don't buy it.Denial is a helluva drug.
how fucked is Getaway when everyone realizes it was all his fault.
>>78033562
Depends. There's already a lot of Bots on the LL who don't even like Megatron, let alone any of the Decepticons
He could widen the rift if he plays his cards right
>>78033562
No one other than Tailgate likes Cyclonus and Megatron is also well hated. The majority will hail him as a hero and only some of the more strict guys and Rodimus will get mad about it.
>>78033562
He's going to get killed by Whirl. He doesn't know WHY he's beating Getaway to death with a bunch of alarm clocks, but boy does it feel right.
>>78033562
The only one who really knows whats going on is Tailgate. Cyclonus doesn't know why Tg did what he did, Whirl doesn't remember, Megatron has no clue, and Atomizer ain't about to out him. It'll be Getaway's word against Tailgate (if Tg lives through whatever is going on).
>>78033796
>No one other than Tailgate likes Cyclonus
Ultra Magnus seemed to have become at least amicable to him after he saved Tailgate's life
And Whirl...I'd call it more complicated than "hating" Cyclonus, considering
I don't think we've really seen Cyclonus interact with the rest of the crew enough to know how they feel about him, with the exceptions of Gears and Huffer during that Mexican Standoff thing
I just finished reading all available issues of MTMTE.
I had nothing against the DJD, but the fact they killed everyone on the alternate LL, and didn't take a single casualty is just bullshit.

>>78034011
Consider the following:
Overlord has been shown to have the ability to wipe out entire planets on his own when he gets going.
Prowl mentions that Tarn is in the same class as Overlord or Sixshot
It's not inconceivable that Tarn alone could have killed the entire Lost Light crew.
As for the rest of the DJD, as they would also have to be equipped enough to deal with Phase Sixers, even if they don't come anywhere close to Tarn's power, they should still be able to fuck shit up a fair bit
And also, when they walked in, their reputation alone probably scared the Autobots shitless enough to affect their ability to defend themselves.
Unless, of course, you consider the very concept of "Phase Sixers" to be bullshit, in which case, yeah.

TL;DR the Lost Light is full of wimps.
>>78034286
Atomizer, Getaway don't like Eggplant.
>>78034148
It's still unbelievable they came out of that perfectly fine. The ship had experimental weapons onboard, and it's guns were strong enough to hurt/kill Overlord.
>>78034206
People who legit like Cyc-
Tailgate
Rewind (for saving his life)
Swerve (for saving his life)
People who are meh with him-
Chromdome (for saving Rewind) And I say this cause I think Rewind must have told him that when he got better about it cause not that CD knew it was Cyc that blocked the blast for him.
Ultra Magnus (just cause he respects him, doesn't mean he likes him)
Whirl (Whirl is Whirl and is confusing anyway)
Riptide (he doesn't like Cons, Ex or not, like Getaway, just not as strongly)
I would say everyone else doesn't like him or doesn't care?
As for Megatron, I would argue NOBODY likes him. Not even Rewind after helped with the engines in the second Arc. Well, fuck, Rewind ended up shooting him anyways. A handful of things aren't going to make people forget you started an 8 million year war and have killed a bizillion people.
So how will Roddy react to this? I might be super pissed that there was all this under handed plotting going on within the Autobot ranks. He's going to be mad he had no idea this was all going on cause he's still focused on the Knights. He'll be super mad that Tailgate was the pawn in this cause he liked the little guy.
He's going to get a strict wag of the finger from Rung if he just shrugs off that it was Megatron that got hurt. That he should be a fair to the newly reformed Ex-War Lord, and that he should punish Getaway and Atomizer.
If Cyc is dead, he'll take more serious action towards Getaway, like kicking him off the ship? He'll have to leave anyway, casue when Megatron gets all better he'll murder him too. Whirl's going to be on the hunt.
HELL! You know what I just thought off? What if Tailgate goes revenge mode on Getaway. That would be great.Even if/or if not Cyc is dead, Tailgate should be the one that fucks things up for him somehow.
There's a lot Roberts can do with this. Can't wait to find out how he makes the others react to it all.

I wouldn't because I want new stuff, not a "remake" of a cartoon.

I kinda feel the same but i've always wondered why Hasbro hasn't done a proper G1 remake. like the same 84 cast and characters but modernized?

I would fund it for one reason and one reason only:

And we all know how Roberts like using second-stringers

>>78059556
Which Heavytread is this?
Head structure doesn't seem to match any. Like not the Micromaster because wrong color and only one eyepiece instead of a visor, the first Mini-Con had inverted color placement and no face, the PCC one had a more typical face and had no red coloration, and the recent Generations one was also was a grey faced one, had cover lens more like a monocle, and seems unlikely since Ammonites were not yet encountered and seem to be the more willing to die than be used as a tool for someone else when they have more important war to fight. Or is it a non-specific guy that simply also uses the name Heavy Tread?

Simply reading the preview pages should clue you into the fact that it's a flashback just saying.
All the fucked up things they do in TF:
1. Shadowplay (the use of mnemosurgery to alter one’s memories, beliefs, or personality)
2. Empurata (the surgical removal and replacement of the face and hands with a single optic and pincer-claws, used as punishment by the functionalist regime)
3. Vivincorporation (alterting a cybertronian into an inanimate object while keeping them alive and aware of their situation)
4. Circuit Boosters / Syk Dose (powerful and dangerous illicit drugs)
5. Slave Coding (coding that binds it’s victim to one or more masters, who cannot be disobeyed)
6. Cosmic Rust (a virulent infection that can creep over bots quickly)
7. Turned into a Sparkeater (an aggressive, feral, seemingly undead cybertronian with strange powers who feeds on the sparks of others)
8. Cybercrosis (an illness of the spark and body that slowly incapacitates and kills it’s victims)
9. Domestication (the trapping of a cybertronian in a beastmode form and reducing their intelligence to make them a pet)
10. Memory Wipe (what it says on the tin, could have multiple causes)
11. Spark Isolation (the removal of the spark and processor from the body, and isolation therof, as a form of punishment- sensory depravation)
12. Spark Transfer (the tranfer of a spark from it’s native frame into a different frame, resulting in a new body)
13. Reformat (the alteration of a Cybertronian’s body into something different, be it a new altmode or a new frametype)
14. Tainted Energon Mutation (created the Dinobots in IDW, known to result in spectacular or monsterous mutations)
15.Dead Universe Infection (gradually turns bots into the walking dead, or undead. Apparently also makes them purge black goo)
16.Dark Energon (the blood of Unicron, can influence bots to his will or drive them insane)
17. Terrorcons (ZOMBIES but not like your garden variety shamblers we’re talkin’ gross special zombies with probiscuses and stuff)

Considering the events of Prime's finale, We can be damn sure he won't be up to his old tricks, but the likelihood of him being an ally to the Autobots is slim to none.
I mean, it's fucking Megatron; the guy's done some heinous shit, and that's not even getting into all the shit he's done to Bumblebee personally. If there was anyone among team Bee that'd likely shoot Megs on sight, it'd be Bumblebee himself.

If he does return in RiD, I'd imagine him being in a state similar to his movie form in DotM. He'd go from being the most feared person in the galaxy to a wandering hobo who has fallen from "grace", and he'd look like one, too (face half destroyed, missing his fusion cannon, forced into an Earth vehicle mode, rusted all-over, and possibly have a cloak to hide his identity).
>>78077407
No idea, the other anon posted that on his list. The only thing that springs to mind is Soundwave altering Ratbat into a cassette, and Bombshells cerebro shells.
>>78076845
I find MTO an interesting twist on the process that led to so many characters in other media.
I mean, look at the Stunticons and Aerialbots in the cartoon. Each side saw a tactical flaw in their forces, and just created life and stuck them into an assigned role in conflict, without asking.
And then get angry at their new soldiers when they aren't gung ho about the war they've been thrust into.

>>78076328
I'm okay with most of those except the dead universe bullshit, the forced gender changing, and all the conjunx endura bullshit (which would be fine if it was an occasional mention, instead of a constant soap opera).
Gender changing was a necessary evil so I can live with it. Would have been easier if they just said that TFs saw other species having genders, and some decided to emulate them out of fashion.
They are going out of hand with the bullshit though. Those last issues of MTMTE with Swerve projecting a sitcom planet, or those attention deflector viruses that exploded from the power of charisma, those were just plain stupid.
>>78078497
I consider both those examples from the cartoons as fucked up as the IDW MTOs for the very reason you posted. Also they had dominator disks in, and the whole blowing up Paradron in G1, among other fun things. So I guess the moral is, Transformers/Cybertroinans are asshats .
>>78078790
Oh yeah, Predators.
Also their opposites were the Turbomasters. Rotormaster was killed way too fast (was a kickass toy, wish he had more roles in the comics).
Thunderclash is shaping up pretty fucking awesome though, if only they'd actually fucking use him for more than just a plot event, or a mary sue joke. Of course it's hard to actually use him given that they turned him into a full mary sue, but maybe we could see him once or twice in combat already.
I want to see Thunderclash have a serious discussion with Megatron. That would be so fucking hilarious.
"- Megatron, I realize we've never actually met."
"- I tried having you killed a few times if that counts."
>Also look up LSotW
Yup, I know, and loved it. Also I had the Overlord toy as a kid. It was ten times more awesome as the crappy combiners. It was so damn great to see him in the comic, I hope he survived and turns up again (if he can single handedly cleans full planets of life, then a couple of rockets shouldn't hurt him).
I'd also like to see G2 Tank Megatron used again, and maybe Laser Prime too. Have Optimus get an upgraded body and a sword from Dai Atlas or something.

>IDW and TF vs Gi joe
>not G1
lmao
They're obviously influenced the most by G1, and any non-G1 characters are altered to fit into a G1 setting.
>>78080352
So are Animated and the films. Because g1 was the first by defintion ANY story is going to have g1 influences.
The entire premise of a contunity family to begin with is based on that orginal Sunbow Cartoon/Marvel Comic thing, where you had two versions of a story going over the same rough events with differnt details.
Then you had stuff that fed off from either or noth fo those, Classics, Beast Era, Regeneration and so on.
But with things like Tfvgijoe and IDW you have wholly original stories with new settings that just so happen to use g1 casts and at times body types(and even that last one is open to flux)
IDW is just as g1 as Animated or the Live Action films, the onyl reason it was declared g1 was by matter of convention/convience and then later the Transtech went off the wiki.
Hell, by that qualifier EVERY Transformer story excpet maybe the UT is g1.
>>78080352
Which is why Dorito and Wingblade are running around.
>>78080352
When IDW (and Animated and the LA films for the most part) were in development the only things TO be influenced by were g1 and UT.
And the UT overall sucked; the only influence it's had ANYWHERE were minicons and the Colonies, the later of which is a fundamnetal part of the current Crest World storyline.
The reason IDW was seen as g1 was because when the Family/Stream systemw as dfirst beeings et up by tfwiki, they were dealing with a burst of various settings around the end of teh UT and the start of the films. Both Animated and the LA films were ALSO declared g1 by convention but they were given there own labels for conveince because they had huge franchises based around them.
IDW as g1/Primax is an outright arbitray declaration, as said by the people who declared it in the first place.
In fact, I have yet to see anyone not from that scene who calls IDW g1 as opposed to it's own reboot.
>>78080461
>Optimus Prime carries a Matrix of leadership in his chest and fights Megatron while they say "Why do you throw your life away so recklessly?" and "One shall stand" and things like a redless yellow kid appeal character, Jetfire high-ranking Autobot who is one of only a few capable of flight, fire truck called Inferno and Scattorshot being a nerd.
>Not G1 influenced
>>78080352
An original story told with (to start) g1 toys doesnt make something g1.
>>78080538
Did you ignore that entire post, I never said ut wasnt g1 was influenced I said fucking EVERYTHING is g1 influenced by defintion , if that was all it took to make something g1, everything but the UT would count.
>IDW Publishing's ongoing Generation 1 comics are included within the Generation 1 continuity family by virtue of being part of the Generation 1 franchise. However, looking beyond the fact that the Transformers in the cast are almost entirely Generation 1 characters, the continuity is nevertheless a full reboot. The backstory has little to do with any pre-existing history, and many of the characters are portrayed in unique ways. The question of whether or not, for example, the IDW version of Galvatron should be considered the "same character" as previous incarnations has been a contentious one, and it cuts to the core of where we consider an old family to end and a new one to begin.
>IDW's Evolutions line of comics features explicitly alternate-universe treatments of Transformers characters. The only existing example, Hearts of Steel, sets the Generation 1 characters in the 19th century, where they transform into locomotives, ironclad ships, etc. As Hearts of Steel broadly resembles Generation 1, it is treated here as part of the Generation 1 continuity family, though it certainly pushes that envelope.
>Where the IDW examples demonstrate this wiki's willingness to include diverse and fairly dissimilar continuities in the same family, the live-action film series shows the opposite. Several members of the main cast are clearly based on Generation 1 archetypes, but the aesthetic, backstory, and tone are different enough that many consider the films to be a new family. This was a focus of no small disagreement when the first movie franchise appeared, as some people considered the movie to be analogous to the IDW comics. Had the franchise never grown beyond the movies, it's entirely possible that the wiki would have ended up including it under the Generation 1 umbrella; however, the staggering breadth of movie-related media has made that option wildly impractical.
The entire system was wholly arbitrary
>>78080590
UT is influenced by G1.
So what I'm getting from this is that continuity and trying to classify stories are for losers.
>>78080769
pretty much
>>78080815
Good. So you agree that ongoing should be a different story every time writer changes hands.
>>78080725
In that case EVERYTHING is g1, go home people.
>>78080868
Everything is G1. An endless franchise based on rehashing the same 8 or so characters forever.
>>78080769
>>78080815
Not really; it's just tryign to apply a subjective model on what really isnt there.
I mean the UT from a certain perspsteive if it's own thing, but everythign is just a few degrees from everythign else because they are all based on each other.
You need specific delineatiosn for it to make sense at all.
Which is why, based on the original Comics/Cartoon/Toy Bios that kinda sorta but dont match up in general or the Aligned "swuint test" stuff you can get a general image of what one would be.
Calling IDW g1 doesnt pass that muster by any onus
>>78080843
It is , depending on what you mean by "story"
>>78080899
Well I dont think thats fair given the innovations each iteration brings.
>>78080917
Of course it would pass the squint test. Uses the same basic characterizations and designs for the main cast and earlier the original design for characters was literally just the G1 reference models with more lines and points of articulation.
Fucking hell we've had this same fucking retarded argument so many times.
>>78081040
Tell Hasbro to make everything ever made to be rendered non-canon and to a complete reboot of franchise. Then everything from before reboot is G1, anything created after it is not G1.
>>78081072
Good luck with that.
>>78081040
Don't we just rehash the same arguments and discussions ad nauseam anyway?
>>78081112
Then come up some new arguments.
>>78081112
Why do you think the thread keeps dying?
>>78081195
Because Transformers is dying because of the money sink that was Prime who was written by people who don't understand Transformers?
>>78080990
The squint test was based on the actual story.
The g1 cartoons and comics are the same general story of the war and the arc crash and so on with details such as the Dinobots and Shockwave's persona as differnt, it's not an entirely new narrative.
In the same way the backstory of Prime is anagalous to WFC/FOC even though the details dont match up exactly.
Look at Dreamwave, Generation 2,Classics,Beast Wars, Wings,Regeneration One ,BinalTech, HeadMasters, Zone and Alternity all of those were explilcity sequels to that same g1 story (either the comic or the cartoons, or in Beast Wars case a vauge fusion of both)
But then look at the Unicron Trilogy a wholly original story that usese g1 charcaters.
Or Animated, a wholly original story using g1 charcaters( and personalities)
Just using models from the cartoon wouldnt be enough , especially in Transformers where toys and molds are recyled across stories. Is Cloud part of the films because it's Megatron was based on movie Bludgeon?
Outside of nameslaps, charcetrxations tends to remaoin a constant, especially for big names. Most every Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Prowl or Ratchet has similar charcaterization but that doesnt make them g1 anymore than BTAS Batman is Golden Age.
When you do that, you arent basing it on g1 specifically, you are just doing the incarnation of the character that g1 established.
By that logic, every single adpataion of say, Superman is the Action Comics story.
Which, if that's the schemata you are going to take, is totally unusable, because it doesnt actually categorize anything.
>>78081072
But that's stupid.
The entire point of categories is to categroize things.
That's like replacing the food groups with "soft" and "hard" or linean taxonomy with "eat it" and "dont eat it"
>>78081158
Hey, I'm not the one complaining about the old arguments. It's not my job to make new ones.
I'd be content with "hey guys, what would your ideal line up for the next cartoon be?" discussions.
>>78081304
Prime and WfC have fucking nothing in common. The "Squint Test" is bullshit.
>>78081342
Because that is such a unique idea which hasn't been used before

>Prime who was written by people who don't understand Transformers?
And we get this from what?
And hell why do you need some kind of super special degree to tell a good story.
And hell, didnt several of the staff work on other Tf projects? How the hell coudl someoen who has been creating Tf for years not understand about Transformers.
Also
>dying
Not in a world where the Bay films make as much money as they do.
Prime was just Hasbros botched attempt to get the IDW comics, the cartoons and the videogames to all do the same "post crisis" style story isnetad of having several different versions out at the same time.
This was a new phenomena, as like I said before up until that post UT pre movie boom, TF was very linear, and in fact there was only really ONE reboot in the franchise up until then
HASBRO wanted it so that if you turned on the tv, read a comic turned on your ps3 or went into the movies you would get the same story. Which, MAY have been possible if they could actually get everyone on the same page.
The studio went off on its own thing(ask me how HASBRO studios for some reasond didnt listen to Hasbro) IDW didnt want to reboot (despite dooing TWO reboots after that due to poor sales) and Paramount was mostly independently developed , hasbro techncially doesnt even oen those films, they just liscneded there charcaters.
But no they are still forever thrive, but they are in the odd postion that IDW, this weird little comic universe made to ramp up for there big multimedia IP boom because an image drop out got hot and burnt out, is now there de facto lead fiction by default. The cartoon guys basically went off the reservation and the films never were on it to start with,
thus COmbiner Wars and the new foudn synergy with Machina and those spotlight packins and such.
>>78081247
But Costa didn't have anything to do with Prime.
>>78081514
I still don't understand how he ever got hired.
>>78081375
>>78081438
>Prime and WfC have fucking nothing in common.
Excpet all those refernces they made back and from eachother; hell Prime outright uses screenshots from the games, and FOC has plenty of Prime aspects.
In fact there relationship is highly simialr to the original Marvel cartoon and comic.
Both of those were two differnt stories based on the same source production material (in that case the toy bios)
In this vase both are two differnt stories based on the binder, given extra leeway because they cover different time period.
But hell, you have charcater from Prime outright quoting the FOC story (which in turn mirroed the Exiles story) they were all just blind mice on one elphant.
Hell, FOC was blatantly leading into Prime
>>78081555
because he apparently was a good writer for GI Joe, they thought he'd work for Transformers.
they should have asked him how would you writ robots first before giving him the job.
ironically he writes Thundercracker perfectly.
>>78081514
>>78081555
Dude wrote Secret History of the Authority :Hawksmoor, shit was cash
But the short answer is he was an IDW writer and they hired him up.
Pretty simple
>>78081619
>>78081247
Tom Scioli has only the vaugest idea of what the fuck both franchises are about and knows all his stuff from wikis and Barber helping him out.
And yet TF v Gi Joe is one of the freshest and unique stories out there.
Sometimes you just have to be the kid bullshitting around with your action figures.
Thats basically what Budiansky was all those years ago, and look were we are now
Transformers is at its best when folks do there own thing inspred by the same core but not slovene wank.
Beast Wars and Animated were both unique and brilliant but they werent just going through the same motions.
>>78081683
Because they used what came before to forge there own path.
It's a song in the same genre, not a cover.
Sorry post posted eralry with autopost
>>78080350
But the fanwankery we're talking about right now, that universes like Cloud are counted as G1, are from that fucker.
He's the guy who listed it as a Primax universe when it would make far more sense as a Nexus one.
IDW's doing a series of What If comics.
For Transformers it's: “In a world… where Optimus Prime never died!”
So, any predictions as to which Optimus Prime, and which death it is?
>>78081814Beast Wars
>>78081814
>where Optimus Prime never died!
But... he... didn't?
>>78081814
G1 Prime is the only one with a prolonged death, so it has to be him
Beast Wars and Animated Prime only died for like 2 seconds. I don't know about the animes
I guess it could be Prime Prime, but all that would change would be that he'd be the ones calling the shots on Cybertron at the start of RiD rather than some nameless government
>>78081954
Yeah, but will it be his movie death, or one from the marvel comics. Like when he won a video game and killed himself over it.
>>78082056
Maybe it's his movie death since it's the most iconic.
>>78082056
I'd rather see the movie death
I see it playing out one of three ways:
>Optimus still gets shot but survives, otherwise things play out exactly the same
>Optimus takes the shot and kills Megatron. Decepticons do a runner, but they still control Cybertron even without a leader. Do they still dump their wounded? Would Unicron still end up creating Cyclonus and Scourge?
>Optimus shows mercy and imprisons Megatron. Do the Decepticons abandon their leader, or do they surrender?
>>78082120
Yeah, that's probably the case.
I imagine it'd make the Hate Plague work out quite a bit differently.
>>78080469
By this logic, the Marvel comic isn't G1 because it also introduced original characters not in the cartoon or toyline. Even though it very much it is.
>>78081446
Fine:
Autobots
Optimus Prime (Generic leader guy fire truck with ladder and water tanks that likes his troops)
Jetfire (Badass ex-villain scientist)
Grimlock (Badass trans-dinosaur lifeform who is leader of a sub-group of Dinobots consisting of a Snarl, a Swoop, a Sl*g, and a Scorn who can combine with him)
Prowl (Badass ninja police car with a deployable smaller motorcycle Mini-Con that he has a link with)
Springer (Badass swordsman helicopter with a land travel form)
Jazz (Badass modified Mazda musician that is pals with Blaster, a Mini-Con that turns into a sonic weapon which can mount on him)
Arcee (Badass missile truck who is pretty much the team mom)
Red Alert (Badass armored truck field medic with huge cannon)
Seaspray (Badass sailor transport hovercraft)
Override (Badass Futuristic muscle racecar)
Elita-1 (Optimus Prime's sister APC that has a running gag of being tsundere about humans)
Nautica (Audience surrogate submarine nerd that loves learning about new worlds)
Decepticons:
Megatron (Typical evil leader guy who values strength above everything else, alien tank)
Starscream (Badass broody science swordsman F-18 who wants to be leader)
Injector (Badass robot fish/wasp who flirts with everyone and has hallucinogenic toxins)
Nightbird (Badass ninja sports car artificial Transformer from Earth with Decepticon sympathies)
Incecticons (Badass mercenaries that fight for Decepticons because they can provide more Energon to eat, form a 5+1 sentai team in their secondary colors)
Bludgeon (badass Samurai of evil tank who is the guy most likely to go "muh honor")
Soundwave(badass intelligence officer stealth plane, annoyed by Starscream's antics. She has a trio of Mini-Con partners with robot modes resembling a bird of prey, a cat, and a bat.)
Undertow (badass thuggish jet-powered boat who has a partner jetski Mini-Con)
Combaticons (Group of the same guys as always with the altmodes being futuristic looking tools of war)
And I ran out of characters.
>>78081768
When asked about that, he said it's because it had a g1 cast, which is retarded because so did animated and tf07
>>78082621
Scratch that, Starscream's altmode should be a blackbird or X-15. Needs to be really, really fast compared to everyone to the point that he can overtake another person in the air, hold out his swords, and have them cut apart by their own momentum.
>>78082737
>Bulkhead
>>78082495
The comic is g1 because both it and the cartoon were based on the original toy bios.
Anything following up from from those two pillars is g1.
For example
Dreamwave, Generation 2, Marvel UK, Headmasters,Masterforce,Zone, Victory, Beast Wars/Machines,Classics,Generation 2, Binaltech,Binaltech Asterisk,Wings of Honor, Alignment, Kiss Players,Car Robots,Beast Wars II/Neo,Regeneration One and the like.
>>78082871
>pillars
>>78081446
Lineups are stupid.
Transformers should have a rotating cast spread across the War.
Like Clone Wars or Transformees vs Gi Joe
>>78082621
the weeb is strong in this one
>>78082771
>Hot Rod
is in Cloud
>>78083001
What does that have to do with anything?
Animated had a bunch on non-G1 guys in the cast.
>>78082771
But g1 Bulkhead
>>78083038
Doesn't exist because IDW isn't G1 but revisionist work.
>>78083030
If "mostly g1 cast" was enough to make something g1,which is what the cloud argument was, animated would be g1.
>>78082906
The fuck is wrong with you
>>78083098
That nine pillars thing is the most stupid thing I've heard in Transformers General in the last year.
>>78083052

>>78083038
I still think that the Generations Roadbuster toy would make a great basis for a G1 Bulkhead.
Pity that the botcon Optimus would be too similar, so we're unlikely to ever get it.
>>78083124
Why? Seems to make sense to me.
The Nine main universes that most everything is a sequel prequel or au of.
>>78083197

>>78082944

>>78083124

>>78083488

>>78083511
Huh. I mostly just aped what seemed coolest out of various ones like Bludgeon being Prime Dreadwing but as a spooky tank, Prowl being G1 and Animated combined, Seaspray being based on the 2010 version, Injector being the prettiest fishbug, etc.
>>78083592
And some fetish pandering by assigning most the females to heavier altmodes instead of motorcycles and spiders I guess.
>>78083592
>>78083592

>>78082621
How're you planning on handling Jetfire's ex-villain nature?I kind of like the idea of having him stranded in Earth's Arctic, like G1 cartoon, but being dug out by humans, like Movie Megs. Watching them trying to figure out exactly what he is, and reverse engineering his components, has given him a kind of Stockholm syndrome, in that he's fascinated by the curiosity and imagination of the organics, even if they're disassembling him. (Heck, they still don't realise he's a living being, and haven't managed to do much more than examine his outermost components. It's nothing serious.)
>>78083554
I am confused, why would this piss him off like that?
> /co/ Talking about allspark Talking about / co/ talking about tfwiki
Nothing tickles me better than Razorsaw getting btfo
>>78083666
I was just having him and Starscream being research partners and initially joined up with the Decepticons with him but left out of distaste with Decepticon ideals and would be still skilled at fighting compared to most the other Autobots but prefers just being in lab. And has some sort of funny accent.

my Jetfire would be a ex-mercenary space cowboy with a maverick personality like in Armada, but he'd eventually be swayed to join the Autobots.
he had work as a Decepticon at one point but dislikes their practises.
his deco would be based on the ROTF Jetfire, as well as his cynicism. his design would be a sleeker version of the Cybertron version and have an aussie accent too.
basically a mix of UT and ROTF Jetfire with some ANH Han Solo in the mix

-Tarn doesn't destroy/report an Autobot outpost, plus the rest of the DJD probably knew about it
-You can't practice religion but Tarn practically worshiped Megatron like a God (until recently)

>-Pardoning a large group of Decepticons accused of desertion and theft (we have no idea if they have the authority to do this) so they can join up with them to go kill Megatron
I don't see either of these as hypocrisy
Tarn's anti-religion sentiment is based solely on the fact that religion offers loyalty to a power other than Megatron. Basically, Megatron is the ONLY being fit to be revered. A cult of personality is not the same as a religious cult, in terms of it's underlying beliefs.
And as for the pardoning a bunch of deserters, this was AFTER Megatron broke his heart. Deathsaurus crime was renouncing Megatron, not necessarily the Decepticon cause.
Until then, Tarn saw Megatron and the Cause as being one in the same. When he came to realize that the Cause was bigger than any one bot, Deathsaurus actually DIDN'T commit a real crime.

He still stole the Warworld.
>>78124352
it really hurts that he'll never smile again.
>>78124597
ok, granted.
I still say that hypocrisy isn't really the DJDs failing...it's prioritization
>the most high profile traitor, schemer and liar the Decepticon forces have ever had has free reign to run around and become ruler of Cybertron
>"we must kill bombs that failed to explode and weirdos who think they're sparkeaters."
Fuck that "work your way down the list; first come first serve" bullshit

Arcee will protect that smile
she'll save Prowl
>>78125096
>"Tarn, don't you think we could maybe go after someone important once in a while instead of all these nobodies?"
>"No, Kaon"
>"But Tarn"
>"NO KAON"
>>78127954
And Prowl will think Arcee is cool and consider getting a sex change. This offends Arcee initially, but when she thinks about it realizes if it was Prowl's choice, it is okay. The only visible differences are that Prowl has eyelash-like structure, red lipstick, and slightly wider hips. Same personality and such and Prowl adapts to sensory input differences quickly with the power of already falling apart.

In their defense, they did go after Overlord - and abandoned their targets (scavengers) in the process. I kinda love the DJD for how ineffectual they actually are.

Maybe Tarn was in Grindcore? Skids looks pretty beaten up in both panels, so my guess is they take place roughly in the same time. The question is, was Tarn already Tarn or was he Roller back then.
>>78125096
>oh, it doesn't matter if we betray the cause, we're not important enough for the DJD to deal with. they just kill phase sixers and generals
Say IDW's Deviations continues as a series. What other "What if...?" stories would you like to see in Transformers?
For me, I'd like to see what might've happened if Armada Starscream had stayed with the Autobots or if he didn't die. That'd be interesting.
>>78129309
What if CircuitSmasherwas a Powermaster?
What if Mindset and Rook were the main characters of G2?
What if the ones to undergo Transmetalization instead died?
What if Nightscream was a girl?
What if Dreamwave Energon comic had been finished?
What if Optimus Prime became a spider?
What if Arcee was the one to die at the beginning of Prime?
>>78129309
>What if BW Dinobot didn't die
>What if ROTF didn't suck. Or what if the movies had become a decent sci fi franchise
>>78129309
What if Optimus fell into the spider pit on Archa Seven instead of Elita?
>>78129875
He would be called Tarantulas and do the same things Blackarachnia did and Elita-1 would be the leader guy of the shitty rejects Earth team.

And they SHOULD
Minor bullshit infractions, like Fulcrum's, for example, should result in going to prisons like Styx (as was his original punishment was). That's why places like that exist in the first place.
The DJD, as these over-the-top sadistic monsters, SHOULD only be utilized for the Overlords and Black Shadows.
Their role should be to prevent overt betrayals to the cause by making an example out of big time trouble makers, as a way of keeping the peons from in their place. And then places like Styx or Grindcore prison should be there for when said peons make minor, but not war-altering, mistakes.
>>78130028
That is the point.
>Minor bullshit infractions, like Fulcrum's, for example, should result in going to prisons like Styx
His fuck up was too great, the only reason he was altered into a K-type was due to a new program, he was originally going to be executed. That being said, that fight was AGES ago, the DJD should have at least asked why the hell he was still there, or force him to do what he was meant to do originally.
>I kinda love the DJD for how ineffectual they actually are.
No kidding, the fact that Garrus-9 was a huge den of deserters (in reality, all guys who were held against their will by a Overlord) should have made that priority number one, yet they did nothing.
>>78130028
>And they SHOULD
Well yes, but that's partly Megatron's fault for not either reining them in better or flat out telling them "Look you fucks, go after the worst of the worst only" or something. Megatron really only told them what he wanted and cut them loose.
Also in Dark Cybertron he tells Bumblebee he can call them in to do what ever he needs so it's not like he can't contact them or make them obey (well not now, but at that time).
>>78130452
>No kidding, the fact that Garrus-9 was a huge den of deserters (in reality, all guys who were held against their will by a Overlord) should have made that priority number one, yet they did nothing.
yeah this really should have been something the DJD dealt with but maybe Megs knew thats what Overlord wanted and chose to ignore him
>>78130627
He didn't, that was the problem. He hadn't talked to them since at least AHM, and Shock only saw Megs when he was still in stasis. By that point, years had passed and the situation at Delphi was resolved.
>>78130703
Shit, I meant Garrus-9
