I'm still an atheist, and I still even believe that overall, religion's influence is probably a net bad. But I just don't care all that much, because it is clearly not the root of all evil that Hitchens and Dawkins like to construe it as, and there's so much more important shit to do than yell at people who believe in a deity because, like, 1% of them use that belief to justify awful things, while the rest are almost indistinguishable from atheists EXCEPT FOR they believe that there's a magic dude or magic people in the sky.

people believe in a lot of causes that aren't THE MOST CRUCIAL for humanity to tackle. Doesn't makes it wrong to take a stance on. These topics still need to be talked about and debated, not cause they will be solved, but because they seem to be intractable problems. And these debates are important because they encourage doubt, which is probably the most important type of thinking we can be taught.
I was a very Anti-thiest for a while, but I've moved past that. Now I think religion should be athiestic but carry on the culture, history and ceremony. Just lose the diety and dogma.
