I'm waiting for Gallagher's will to reveal that the last 20 years of his comic started off as a personal inside-joke about the lax standards of newspaper comics but eventually evolved into an obsessive dadaist style intended to be a scathing indictment to the quality of syndicated comics that he could intentionally be as not funny as possible, that he could make a living deliberately NOT writing jokes, and still published for decades.
