Would you a Boop /co/?
>>77738061
Simon Cowell's still developing that supposedly upcoming BettyBoop movie?
Isn't she responsible for the codes and ethics of what can go into a cartoon?
Betty Boop is too cute to sexualize
>>77738061
That's kinda hot.
>>77738094
Well, it was really a committee effort, but she signed off on it as head of the FCC.
Yeah.
>>77738061
I would
>>77738061
I really need to storytime Betty Boop's Big Break sometime.
>>77738061
why is her mouth so low on her face? I never got that

Concept of beauty
Small mouth, big eyes, and big cheeks
You know, that and originally Betty Boop was designed as a cartoon dog

Speak for yourself.
No.

Neotenic traits. Big eyes, small nose, small mouth. Just like in those Vietnamese cartoons.

I would. My girlfriend has similar hair and face. My life is suffering, but also pleasure.

Why some feminazis hates Betty Boop ?
when they see the first Betty Boop version ( i talk about the human one, please no bitching me with your dog shit ) they said something like:
> This is too sexual, womens are not objects !! her body is so unrealistic ! she don't look like a real strong women ! her personnality is too girly !
So you give them the Code Hays Betty Boop, less sexualized, more adult and more responsable
> THIS IS OPPRESSION !! THIS TIME SHE'S AN OPPRESSED WOMAN ! SHE'S A VICTIM OF THE PATRIARCAL SOCIETY DOMINATED BY CISGENRE MALES ! BECAUSE SHE CARES OF SOME BABIES, LITTLE ANIMALS AND CHILDRENS !! AND HIS BODY ISN'T REPRESENTATIVE OF NORMAL WOMENS !!
okay, so they become really annoying and you give them Toot Braunstein, this infamous craziest parody for annoy them:
> THIS IS BODY SHAMING ! THIS IS UNFUNNY ! ALSO SHE'S A SLUT WHO LOVES SEX AND MANAGES TO HAVE RELATIONS DESPITE HER "UGLINESS" ! THIS IS AWFUL ! AND SHE LOOKS LIKE THE FIRST VERSION ! TOO SEXUALIZED !!!
What the fuck they want exactly ?
>>77757239
hnnnnnnnnnnng
>>77739106
If you want that episode actually envolving her you can look up Dirty Dishes with Betty Boop, that is where she made the cameo appearance.
>>77743101
Depends on the episodes, she is claimed to be between 15 and 17 but in some episodes she is 21, another she is 19. In one episode just to fit the script she is around 25. Really depends on the episode and the year
I don't get why, but she always looks so traumatized to me.
Did she see her husband cheating, did she work in the military and saw everyone she loved and cared dying?
What's with that look?
>>77757869
Apparently she has bad relations with her parents.... go watch the short "Minnie the Moocher"
>>77749170
Couldn't understand a word that was being said, but I loved it.
>>77738061
I have been trying to come up with a clever way of saying "yes, I would" the whole day
>>77757220
They don't know what they want, and that's the problem. They don't have a unified idea on how to go about this, and because of this it makes the whole thing unreasonable. Doesn't help that all of these different ideas end up being flanderized to an extreme.
I actually thought she looked best in Roger Rabbit. Her look varies from cartoon to cartoon to merchandise to merchandise, but I feel like her proportions were best in WFRR.
>>77759664

>>77807371
If you people that consider yourselves "real feminists" don't do anything to stop or separate yourselves from these "third wave retards" them you are basically accepting what they have been doing to the image of feminism and I have no more respect for you than for them.
Now look at this
http://theangriestfeminist.tumblr.com/
>The only thing as bad as a bigot is a fake feminist like this pandering for views, being self-righteous, and educating people into becoming fake feminists like him.
.
.
.
>Do you know what the problem with modern western feminism is? Most modern western self-proclaimed ‘feminists’ are either spoiled, middle-class white girls or guys trying to fuck those spoiled, middle-class white girls.
In some posts she points at real problems that women suffer in some parts of the world and in other points how stupid these so called feminists are. That quote for example was a part of a rant over a comic from Sinfest.
http://theangriestfeminist.tumblr.com/post/60267447702/did-you-know-that-men-are-three-times-more-likely
But I don't see many people like her voicing their opinions. So if "third wave retards" are destroying the image of feminism you have only yourselves to blame for not doing nothing to separate yourselves from them.
>>77810458
To be fair, most people who were feminists before the third-wave SJW types now call themselves egalitarians. I don't blame them.
Though this is making me tempted to take Women's/Gender Studies next year, if only because I can at least be able to ask some hard questions and am stubborn enough to adhere to my own beliefs.Yes, and I am a middle-class white girl so at least I might not be automatically shut down for mansplaining.
>>77807780

>>77749097

>>77811761
I don't know about how things are in your country but I wouldn't make hard questions or point flaws in what the professor is talking about. I had the lack of sense to do that before and I realized how powerless I am in an institution.
Also I assume most serious feminists became egalitarians because most serious issues were fixed already in the developed world and even in many developing countries. There is no need for feminism in developed countries, just some fine tuning on the relations between different people. That's why feminism is dead and the ones carrying the flag now are just spoiled brats who jerk off to bitching about everything and feeling superior in the process.
After watching Eraserhead, all I can think when I see Betty Boop is
>In heaven
>Everything is fine
>In heaven
>Everything is fine
>You've got your good things and I've got mine
>>77813438
Well, I live in the good old US of A, but I can see what you mean.
In my "Cultural Anthropology" class a narrative is pretty obviously pushed, and any dissenting opinions get a condescending response and are batted aside.
Still, just putting forth a challenge to an opinion is sometimes enough to get people thinking. Especially when a person has been living in an ideological echo chamber for a while.
That last point was pretty on the nose, though.

I had this VHS tape, probably still have it laying around somewhere actually, that had fifty old cartoons in no particular order. Had some Boop, Felix, a couple of old Superman shorts, some Popeyes, Little Lulus, that one Mighty Mouse that everyone has seen, and some Looney Tunes.
Watched that shit all the time when I was little. I remember the basic episode order to this day for the most part. Very last episode was a Fleischer (I think) treatment of Wizard of Oz. Introduced me to pretty much the entire golden age.
Years later I found out they added these cringeworthy generic sound effects for some entirely unknown reason. You could tell because they were the same "BYOOOING!" sounds in every single episode. I guess it was to tie them all together, but I never understood why that was necessary.
>>77738061
I'm honestly surprised that a Betty Boop thread is actually lasting this long. They usually don't go past 20p posts, this is nice.
>>77817414
Betty hits some of the traits the japanese love in animated (or real) women, pale skin, tiny feet, big eyes, childish voice and curvy figure.
She still seems to be popular there, too.
>>77818573
She's kind of part of the kawaii culture women have when it comes to clothing.
>>77818585
She even has her own pachinko machine since 2003.
>>77818588
Fleischer's always been a Japan favorite.
Boop's popularity is no surprise considering Donkey Kong was almost a Popeye game. Come to think of it Mario has more similarities to Popeye than any other classic cartoon character. Both eat vegetables to get bigger and stronger, and both have to beat a gigantic bully to save their gfs ad infinitum. Not to mention they're both east-coast blue collar workers who talk funny.
>>77818629
I'm mostly surprised that with certain franchises that in America would be considered childish (because cartoons, we know that happens), Japan markets them in a way that the general public is very receptive of it and they love it.
And it's not considered childish because it's a cartoon, it's accepted by everyone.
3 specific cases I can remember now are, well, Betty Boop, Ruby Gloom, Amalka and I'm sure there are plenty more, they get more publicity, more products and more attention in general.
>>77818706
And if the shows stopped airing years ago, doesn't matter, it will still be relevant for them because their shows were very well marketed there.
That's something that many beloved american classic cartoons don't get.
>>77818722
I mean the love of the general public.
Those classics are lucky to get (3D) movies here because that is when people start remembering them again.
>>77818746
Plus, Betty is a classy woman, she deserved the fame.

It really is a cultural difference. France from what I know is similar.
It wasn't always like this either. The Flintstones was primetime television, and before that the Looney Tunes and Fleischer classics were all the rage among adults as well as children in movie theaters.
I feel Disney might have had something to do with it. The guy loved children, being a parent and all, and wanted things to be family oriented. This unfortunately labeled all animated work as kid stuff, despite the fact that even Disney produced live action films were also aimed at kids and teenagers in his lifetime.
I could be wrong, but that was my impression.

This says "no curls on Betty's forehead" but pretty much all the cartoons and character sheets have her with curls on her forehead.

I'm surprised Gertie doesn't have any foot fetish art... Not that I'm complaining, just that, "rule 34, no exceptions."

Copyright protection. All those vintage cartoons are public domain, so nothing is stopping someone from buying a copy of that VHS, and using it as a master to make 10,000 copies, then selling those for a profit.

Damn, she's even better.
Sandy Fox is a great VA, here's hoping they consider her for the movie.

Your welcome, Telecom was doing alot of american stuff at the time, only big anime they did during that era was Farewell To Nostradamus, other then some outsourced work from Ghibli, Ozanari Dungeon, The Fourteenth Target and a few episodes of Monster Rancher Telecom almost did nothing but western work at that time.

Also unlike Famous Studios they almost never mock the Japanese during WWII when Famous did it all the time, that made the Fleischers viewed favorably in Japan as "thanks for not mocking us during the war" when they ignore Famous Studios ever happening.
Disney was also light on this as well.

Hmmmmm, very interesting....

That's not true at all, there's that Popeye short that's titled "You're a sap Mr. Jap" and I'm pretty sure more than one of those Superman cartoons they made had evil Japanese men as villains.
The thing with Betty not being a driving force behind propaganda is that she was before all of that, "Language all my own" was made in 1935, before WWII even started! Japan was actually kind of liked back then, the Meiji era was all about them adapting to modern customs. Also Betty kind of stopped having cartoons by the late 30s despite her popularity, so there was no point in making propaganda with her.
Betty actually makes for some pretty good reaction images.

Just one, and it was made by Famous Studios, but yeah... it's a weensy bit dated.

Famous Studios, not Fleischer Studios. There IS a difference.
