In their past "life", (before Marceline killed them for the first time) yes.
During the events of the mini-series it depends from the specific vampire. The Empress and The Hierophant were the only ones that actually wanted to go back either enslaving or killing people. The Moon was in a neutral stance, while The Fool and The Vampire King were okay with changing their ways.
