Ya know, it would be a noble thing to go back ten years and warn everyone of the Red Ring of Death, saving Microsoft millions of dollars and the loyalty of its fans, perhaps even giving them a better chance of future success in the videogame industry.

But I'm not that noble.

Are gaming webcomics still a thing?
I'm serious.
Maybe it's because I'm not pursuing gaming webcomics much nowadays, but I noticed that more often you got an artist with a narrative webcomic, then they'll do a one-off gaming thing on their blog/tumblr/DA/Twitter/what have you.

>saving Microsoft millions of dollars and the loyalty of its fans
Nah, most M$ fans didn't care. There were a few people in my school who went through 4-7 360s and swore they were the best console ever. Whenever anyone brought up the red ring thing and the fact that nobody else ever had to buy multiple of a console, their responses usually consisted of "So what?" or "Whatever."
>>
>>77689804
To be fair, Fat Ps3's had a shit shelf life as well
Also 360's ground your discs to a fine powder if you tipped them
Really any console in the past couple generations that wasn't made by nintendo are flimsy peices of junk
>>
>>77689754
Gaming webcomics are more kill now that reddit/tumblr supply the same WHAT IF MARIOS MUSHROOMS ARE DRUGS humor but without the wait

It makes me sad that they held technology advancement on hold for a decade like that.
In an normal world, the current gen should be 5 year old and getting ready for the new one.
>>
>>77690274
>It makes me sad that they held technology advancement on hold for a decade like that.
Don't be retarded.
It wasn't on hold.
Just because you can't buy it doesn't mean their R&D is shut down and all their researchers fired.

Just because something isn't commercially sold, it doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

You're not kidding. All the characters look like bucktoothed rats now.
>>
>>77690031
I got two defective Wiis. First one, the GPU fucked up, and the second one the disc drive just flat out clamped down on the discs got stuck. The third one they sent me actually works, but it reads discs slower than it should for some reason and at that point I decided not to bother anymore. It's easily Nintendo's shoddiest home console in my experience. I always find their handhelds to get far more time from me than any other hardware they've put out since the 90's. Though I don't know how the Wii U has been in terms of hardware reliability, since I don't have one.
>>
>>77690153
>the time when consoles and laptops had BGA-soldered chips for graphics inside them
I don't fucking miss it at all. I don't miss the PS3, the 360, or the dozens of laptops from Dell, Acer, Apple, HP, and IBM/Lenovo that were put on life support by Nvidia's godawful engineers. There are laptops currently aboard the ISS with these time-bomb GPUs in them. Fuck the late 2000's.
>>
>>77690274
I always hated the transition period between consoles, so I wasn't complaining.
>>
>>77689719
Or am I?
>>
>>77691089
You mean like how every big studio has to make the inferior version of their game alongside the real version because the old console is still on the market?
>>
I wish I hadn't put my 360 in storage. If I had known Capcom was going to re-release RE0 I wouldn't have bothered.
>>
>>77690680
That is downright hideous.
>>
>>77690680
Okay so that comic is particularly heinous but a lot of the recent ones haven't been.

Is this just the new normal for PA? Fluctuating wildly between regular drawings and disgusting melted pig monsters?
>>
>>77690680
Is this real? It looks like an unrefined, teenaged Tumblr artist's work.
>>

>Xbox's ground your disc to a fine powder if you tipped them

God I Fucking hated that. My friend's dog came hauling ass into the house and smacked my Xbox and turned my game into a coaster. So pissed.
>>
>>77690680
jesus fucking christ it's like their trying to become that parody comic they made with the cat and rat that made no sense.
>>
>>77690064
There are only so many jokes you can make about video games not making sense in real life, as well.
At least Penny Arcade just makes whatever they find funny, even if it's only tangentially related to games.
>>
>>77691642
Penny Arcade can also get some mileage out of "the industry", and the number of comics that do that regularly I can count on one hand.

Have they done anything like that one zombie arc? Where they just told a story with their characters for a couple weeks before going back to the joaks?
>>
>>77690031

I had to replace my PS3 twice before it's current iteration, though the first one was my own fault and the second one naturally expired.

Watch as I go home and find it has crapped out on me.
>>
>>77690153

I was 10 years old back then. How old am I supposed to feel at nearly 21, co? Because I feel fucking ancient and fear how in approx 70 years I'll be dead.
>>
>>77691927
Wait a while and see how you feel at 25. When you look back at the quarter of a century you have spent on this earth and how little you matter
>>
>>77692019

At least we're not like the people on mu. If you're not famous by 25 as a musician you might as well throw in the fucking towel.

That's what turning 50 is for.

Gabe is an unrefined teenaged tumblr artist. He was around before things like criticism for shitty art and being pushed to improve yourself were a thing, and he never had to learn that he's a shitty artist.

>waah I'm -almost- 21 I feel so old

What's worse, losing your heroes as a child or watching them fade away into irrelevance
>>
>>77701014
In my experience the latter. At least the first is a clean break.
>>
I'm 28. I've been here since 2007.

And honestly I wouldn't change a thing. All the shitty parts of my 4chan experiences have been outweighed by the fun parts. I wouldn't trade Geass Sundays or Wolfbatman for anything.
>>
>>77696404
They didn't really make it funny though
>>
>>77700858
Lots of his stuff looks fine, though, especially for a thrice-a-week webcomic. That particular strip is definitely worse than his art 10 years ago.
>>
>>77701014
First one seems better, it's painful but you can move on.
Watching the downward spiral is painful, and in my experience you just can't bring yourself to LOOK AWAY.

Mike's problem is that he A) stopped giving a shit about PA and B) started hanging out with Scott Kurtz.
>>
>>77705552
I like Scott Kurtz. He's funny in real life.

He's also fatter than Buddha and a plague upon the house of Krahulik.
>>
>>77705611
And for once it's genuinely not his fault.
>>
>>77689754
There are still a few.

Penny Arcade, Awkward Zombie. Pretty sure CAD is still kicking around. PvP is also probably still going. Dobson may or may not count. Fanboys basically died and the author is going through some shit, far as I know.

But the sprite comics and early 2000's fads of any schmuck with a computer making shitting out a gaming comic have largely waned.

>>
>>77689589
do webcomic artists just unlearn to draw after a few years or something?
>>
>>77691494

Gabe's art evolved to a certain point and then stuck that way for years. Apparently he felt like a funny pages author, lazily sticking to one simple style, and now he's trying to experiment all the time.

Unfortunately as his art gets more expressive his characters grow more hideous.
>>
>>77691927

I'm 32 and I hate you. But don't worry, when you're 32 you'll hate young you too.

It's an odd thing, seeing them side with game publishers over journalists (or even "journalists"), as if the enthusiast press should be prepared to roll over and take it if they want to remain profitable (because getting reviews out fast enough to matter often depends on review copies). His sentiment at the end of his rant was good--now Kotaku can do and say whatever they want, because they're not depending on crumbs from the publishers in order to survive--but he so clearly loathes them he comes off as fellating the publishers. Bit of a change from the Gerstmann firing.
>>
>>77711939
By the time you're 35, like me, you'll literally hate everything but yourself.

When you turn 40, that changes to include yourself as well.
>>
>>77691927
>nearly 21,
>I feel fucking ancient

You don't know from feeling ancient, son.
>approaching 32
>was born fourteen weeks prematurely
>parents were told I wouldn't last as long as I have, was never expected to even survive being born
>summer after third grade (so nine-years-old-ish)
>be told I need major surgery
>all goes well
>still reminded that I probably won't last into my thirties

So, yeah, try having a midlife crisis at ten fucking years old. At this point I'm just waiting to die. Most people would go "You should be celebrating living as long as you have!" but to be perfectly honest, I've done almost everything I've ever wanted to, in the sense that even though I'm still a virgin and unmarried and want to experience both, I'm content with my life as is and have zero regrets.

I've never shied away from anything that interests me, the only major deterrent is my operation. There's this whole list of "if you do this you will definitely die so don't even risk it" things I can't do that I would love to, but...meh, it's fine.
>no roller coasters
>no planejumping
>which means no flight suits
>no...of that...wieghtlessness plane stuff
You know what I mean?
>no motorcycles
That one in particular is disappointing because my aunt, uncle, and cousin all are bikers and I can't even ride in one of those cart things.

That all said, no regrets.
