I think OP means that the scene would be Frank going into the house and cold-blooded but brutally killing the couple, making him seem like a villain. Then he goes to the children, and it looks like he's gonna kill them too, but doesn't. He picks up the phone. Next scene is child services and police at the house, and they discuss about how they found the tapes in the basement or some shit, revealing that Frank franked them for pedos.

I don't think people will ever buy Frank as a villain in the series. He's had three movies, has been in a bunch of cartoons, he's the favorite comic book character of 9/10 edgy teenagers even if they never touched a comic in their lives, his shirt is second only to Batman's in the chests of brodudes.

I fucking love the Punisher, and even I know he can be fucking evil. How many times have we seen some caped crusader put the villain in jail, only to have them escape and kill people again? Punisher don't let them do that. He kills them, straight up. He doesn't give a shit.
As a Punisher fan, I'd have no problem seeing him portrayed as a villain, as long as they don't kill him off. He is a badass, and as long as he doesn't do anything uncharacteristically evil (like murdering innocents), I wouldn't mind seeing him as the antagonist vigilante.

Ennis' MAX run is one of the most brutal takes on the character and is great overall. Make sure to read Born as well (Frank in Vietnam) and My War Gone By (actually a Fury book but it's great and it has more Frank in Vietnam).
Remender's run is fun if you like Frank as a "superhero". There's a fair bit of this run I don't particularly care for but it was enjoyable enough and really ties Frank into the Marvel Universe.
2099 is one of the bests parodies of '90s edge and is the origin for "I don't need a jetpack I just need hate" and "36 ... Caliber"
Armory is cool if you want to look at guns. It's 10 issues of Frank talking about his guns, equipment and training.
