I was born in 1989 and I don't really remember much besides it being a normal cartoon block with some shit for commercial breaks. It wasn't a show in itself.

No, It was much better. I went from good cable to shit cable back in 2001. So from early 01 to mid-ish 03 I didn't have Cartoon Network. I missed the first couple years of [AS] and when I finally got it back I had to bear with this new "Fridays" block with an idiot fatass and some nigress. I'm glad the Fridays block ended so I wouldn't have to put up with more of those two.

1993, and I completely remember Cartoon Cartoons. The whole block stuff that CN used to have was really nice. Everything felt like it belonged on the channel.
There were two major periods as far as I remember: the Cartoon Cartoons, headed by shit like Dexter's Lab and PPG, and the "Billy and Mandy Era" with shit like EEnE and KND.
Then it all seemed to fall apart suddenly. I may be misremembering this, but I feel like it really went to shit around the CN Real fiasco.
Since then, they've been building back up to that former sense of consistency, and I think the current CN is the best it's been since then, but they're still not really there for some reason.
Maybe it's cause TTGo is too loud and obnoxious to let this "family" like connection with the shows actually click.
