They have distinct personalities and/or capable of forming them. Some of his dupes lived for years after their creation, had a job, had sex, one formed a family. Yeah, absorbing a dupe isn't quite the same as killing a person since they still kind of live inside of him and may resurface (X-Factor dupe, for example), and Madrox isn't at fault for absorbing Sean but the fact that Jamie goes through this not once, not twice but like a hundred times every day of his life gives me the creeps.
