You know, I think they kinda improved Cap in comics by actually developing him a little more, such as bringing back the whole God Pantheon which was an integral part of his abilities. Perhaps not as good as he originally was still, but it's still a step up for him.

It had a lot of downsides, with a few upsides such as getting certain characterizations down properly. Although the "Light" was just wasted as a villain group. But hey, Lex Luthor was fantastic.
I liked how they really fleshed out other civilizations like Mars, Atlantis, and Rann. Mars, in particular, has a lot more potential still being around than being extinct a la Krypton.

Personally, I think someone who trained their whole life as a soldier (or a ninja, whatever) and learnt their limits, how to use patience and when to be cautious would easily best someone who is powerful but has had little to no training and doesn't really know their powers that well.

in the YJ continuity. Mars basically has a Caste system of sorts based around race. with there being White, the lowest caste, Green the majority and middle caste and Red, the smallest and highest Caste. It's just good ol cultural bullshit. I can't remember it all but if you crawl through Weisman's website you could find all his explanations for things. He had a million ideas and details for his version of the DCU that never made into the show while it was still running. Dude just seems to love world building.
