Nope. He tried to do something and realized it wasn't the right way, that's why he changed his approach. He was wrong.

Except about his revolution.
>>
>>77466012
Bendis has a vendetta against Beast for some reason, same style as the Scarlett Witch one. It's unclear why, maybe somebody stole his Beast trading card and he had to convince himself he hated it anyway or something.
Either way, now that Bendis is off X-men, maybe Beast can stop being shit on. Hickman clearly didn't care, he used Beast how he wanted.
He even killed Dark Beast just because his name had Beast in it.
>>
>>77467860
Bendis just saw how Beast has been acting for the past 8 years in comics and finally called him out on it.
>>
I've found it impossible to support Cyclops because everything I've read post-AvX has been untapped potential mixed with character assassination. I feel like the line missed a plot point somewhere; they knew where they wanted to take him but the writers never bothered to show him getting there, and then it just all fell short anyways.
>>
>>77468222

Could you cite some example? Because honestly all the really terrible shit I remember Beast doing, like bringing back the X-kids and joining the Illuminati, was under Bendis' tenure.
>>
>>77468352

Bendis threw it all away with the original x-men and Magneto, Cyclops, and Emma getting their powers messed with. Then he introduced new mutants and the revolution didnt happen.

You are better off reading Magneto. Basically Punisher but going after people who are a threat to mutants or have hurt mutants. Even with weak powers e goes about in a brutal way.
>>
>>77468375
I remember hank talking shit during nightcrawlers funeral and other pages being posted. I don't have them however. Also remember him working with dark beast right after no more mutants happened.
>>
>>77468375
Not really terrible stuff, mostly whiny, self righteous, and hypocritical. He's had a grudge against Scott for years, long before he'd actually done anything wrong.

Hank got all morally outraged in Secret Invasion because Scott used a biological weapon (the Legacy Virus remade to specifically target skrulls), except Hank made the virus and gave it to Scott. He just didn't want any of the responsibility for that decision.
And then just before they built Utopia, Hank got captured and tortured by Osborn and Dark Beast during a protest. Beast got all pissy that Scott didn't come to rescue him right away and apparently hated the idea of Utopia so he left to go join SWORD.
But he came back for Nightcrawler's funeral during Second Coming only to interrupt the funeral to insult Scott and blame Kurt's death on him and judging him for having X-Force killing mutant enemies off the books.
And then he left a letter for Hope Summers not to trust Scott, trying to undermine Scott.
And then when Wolverine and Cyclops had their Schism, Beast sided with Wolverine, not because he believed that the X-Kids shouldn't be used as cannonfodder considering how willing he was to use the O5 as his pawns in his vendetta against Scott, but because he just outright hated Cyclops at this point.
And then the fact that Wolverine had continued X-Force on his own came to light and Beast just shrugged it off, he didn't seem to give a shit and kept working at the school and supporting Logan blindly.
And of course he took the Avengers' side during the AVX conflict, even going with the Space Team to help destroy the Phoenix Force even though its as arguably vital to the universe as Galactus. You know taking part in their plans to attack Utopia to kidnap Hope Summers and fighting other X-men in the process.

And between it all Beast's spent like half of his dialogue shit talking Cyclops. The dude has been obsessed for years.
>>
>>77468375
You don't remember Beast being captured during Utopia and chucking a bitchfit at everyone for not saving him instantly?

Even though a year or two earlier, Scott had LITERALLY sacrificed himself and got the shit tortured out of him in Astonishing?

Beast tries to strike a deal with High Evolutionary, Mojo, Arnim Zola, Doom, Sinister, AIM, and Kavita Rao to fix the "No More Mutants" problem.

When they all turn him down, he takes Dark Beast to the Guthrie farm in Kentucky and a bunch more of Cannonball's siblings end up getting killed because SCIENCE!
>>
>>77469915
None of the Guthrie kids got killed in that. Dark Beast just injected one with some untested serum to try to activate his X-gene. Didn't work.

Of course Beast and Dark Beast did go to Genosha to dig up the bodies of dead mutants and experiment on them.

Scott actually did die, they just brought him back to life. I'm not sure if I'm remember right, but I think it was hinted that they tortured him until he died, then revived him several times?

Anyway, it really rustled my jimmies back then when Beast had the audacity to say something like "you don't know what it's like to get tortured! You don't put yourself in the fire!" or something like that. and Scott just replied with "Thanks for coming to Kurt funeral, he would have appreciated it."

>>77469383
Aye i still hope that we'll see Bro Beast return soon.
I think it started with Fraction really, he had Hanks indignation dialed up to 11, at the same time Warren Ellis had Hank be the scientist who has to make tough calls and feel bad in a couple of books (Astonishing X and Secret A) so Hanks comes off as a hypocrite.

Then he got dragged into the Illuminati, who are totally the worst people ever for blowing up a couple of uninhabited planets. Brought the )5 from the past, and since the other X-men have declared themselves the "laws of science and nature police" the've decided its his turn to be blamed for everything. Ironic since he was the first to turn on Scott.

Guess that makes Storm the next X-scapegoat.

On a related topic I always assumed that the Watcher that told beast he was a Douche was Xavier jnr from the future since he appeared where Utau was standing the panel before?

You act like this hasn't been Beast's characterization since Dark Reign. Beast's descent into being a self-righteous piece of shit started the second he confronted Scott about X-force and stormed out of Utopia.
>>
>>77477818
He blamed the inhumans for committing mutant genocide by unleashing the T-Mists (which he's not wrong, considering the t-mists are apparently no more mutants + legacy virus) and instigated a war between inhumans and mutants that apparently resulted in many casualties on both sides.

After that he and a bunch of other mutants disappeared, presumably fucking off to space.

I've always had an issue with the presentation of the mutants as an oppressed minority. They usually try to equate them to a real-life minority but the allegory falls flat because there is a very good reason to be restrictive in regards to mutants: from birth they have a completely randomized power set that can range from being blue to being a mini-nuke and they themselves may not even have control over it. In such a scenario, policing and registration of mutants is not just reasonably, but absolutely required unless you want to run the risk of teenagers accidentally blowing up their class (mutants and non-mutants alike) in a hormonal fit.

Cyclops was wrong because he threw away any idea of compromise that would be needed for coexistence in order to try and start a race war that he had no hope of winning. So maybe he was right if his goal was secretly to eliminate all remaining mutants.
>>
>>77481316
>In such a scenario, policing and registration of mutants is not just reasonably, but absolutely required

Yeah, I think it's much more effective when they are presented as being victims of social stigma in their communities. "My son's a a freak, better shoot him", etc. This way the enemy is ignorance more than 'scary government wants to control us'.

he should have done an Ultron instead, found some territory that wouldn't be worth reclaiming, drive off/kill everyone living there and declare it Mutantland and a sovereign power, borders are closed to all non-mutants
Then take advantage of mutant powers to jumpstart Mutantland's industry. Once the nation is self sustaining, start stockpilling the excess and making lucrative trade deals to certain nations that it'll be in their best interest to make sure you don't get orbital-lasered out of existance

Then we got pearls of fine comics such as flamethrowers in toilets and HOMEWOOOOOOOORK!!!!
>>
the extinction team letter (tldr, this team will fuck you up if you mess with mutants)
>>
>>77455363

Scott only exists in comics nowadays so he can be a big mean bully and serve as the authority figure for Wolverine to disrespect.

Every writer tries to kill him off/make him 'abusive' so that Wolverine can sweep in and save his girl from him.

Shit like this is what makes me hate Marvel. There has never, ever been a point where Cyclops was wrong without the writers trying to puff him up as a strawman for them to knock down in their Wolverine jackoff sessions.

FUCK Wolverine. FUCK Marvel. I support Cyclops.
>>
>>77455363
Except he is Optiblast Hitler. But >>77495618 is quite right, he could rarely justify his actions with a well build rational argument, it was always some 'Muh, save mutantkind, brink of extinction' mumbling.
>>
>>77496288
>he could rarely justify his actions with a well build rational argument, it was always some 'Muh, save mutantkind, brink of extinction' mumbling.

You're leaving out one major thing: He's never able to reason out his arguments because the writers don't care what his reasons are. He's just there to be the obstacle.

One reason I've heard is that the writers see themselves as "cool" badasses like Wolverine instead of a stickler like Summers, so they constantly shit on him to make their self-inserts better.
>>
>>77496421

did it backfire by making Cyclops constantly right?
>>
>>77496515
Pretty much.

It turns out that having someone on your team whose only response to every situation isn't "snikt" is is a pretty good idea.

I never really bothered with Marvel, and this is the only version of Beast I know. And will all that I've read here, I'm not interested in the version Beast has become.
>>
>>77455363
Uh-huh.

Anon, you didn't use any external sources of comparison, so you're methodically flawed and as such, your thesis will not be accepted by this board.

No doctorate in mutant studies for you. Also, your manager called, they don't need you for the day shift any more, but the night shift is still free. I guess some people still want burgers at that time of night.

Blaming the writer doesn't change the fact he was wrong.

That parody was better than the actual event. Someone storytime it!

But Cyclops being right about the Phoenix restoring mutants was what really got the Cyclops Was Right ball rolling. And splitting the force five ways was a great way to keep it in check. The mutants were creating heaven on earth but Captain America was too buttblasted to just let them be.
>>
>>77500149
And he's right about humans hating mutants no matter what X-Men do.
>>
>>77500149
>And splitting the force five ways was a great way to keep it in check

Yeah, I remember near the end there were no side affects like Magik sitting around drinking human blood and being like "this is good"
>>
So what exactly happened during Bendis's time on Uncanny in terms of characterization? I didn't read everything, I can only take so much Bendis, but this is it as far as I can make out

Scott changed his mind about the level of responsibility he had for Xavier's death, going from "Phoenix force, but my fault" to "Phoenix force, not my fault". He becomes a martyr figure who is hated for reasons that don't quite add up in the 616 continuity given the scale and scope of other characters actions.

Storm and friends spent two years unironically hating Scott for killing someone under the influence of the Phoenix force while running a school named after Jean Grey. As far as I read, Storm's only characterization during this run was that she hates Scott Summers. Beast is in a similar position, endangering their timeline hoping to piss Scott off, he isn't confronted about this until the end of the run.

Young Bobby is gay because Jean could read his mind, yet none of the other telepaths, not even the kekoos (who revealed during an armed stand off that Maria Hill fancies Scott) ever brought this up or confronted Older Bobby about it. You could conclude he was so repressed that it never appeared on anyone's radar, yet he reconciles his homosexuality after one and a half confrontations with his younger self and Jean Grey.
>>
>>77500290
That was Emma when the Phoenix was only split two ways. Loooong after The Avengers got involved.
>>
>>77500530
Wait is the Jean Grey Academy still around now that young Jean has been kicking around for two years?

I love that we can't say Kekoos.
>>
>>77466012
Theoretically alot of his reactions are correct but he's in a comics universe where writers don't care about the ramifications of wtf they just wrote.
When he was talking shit to Hope about Cyclops it had just been discovered X-23 was being used in X-force when the entire point of her being with them was so that she wouldn't have to do that sort of stuff. When he brought the 05 over he figured people would be smart enough to put 2+2 together and blame mutants for that whole world being set on fire thing. After that he could just send em back and Xavier could mindwipe em.
>>
>>77500149

once you have reed agreeing with you, you've gone too far
>>
>>77500530

Its not polite to out people. But apparently iceman's life is shit because he never admitted he was gay. All five had to have shitty lives. It couldn't be 1/5 success rate (which is the going rate for ,mutant success stories)
>>
>>77500907
is there even a mutant succes story in the X-Men. Like one character that doesn't have shit issues, or a shit past or shit personality.
>>
>>77497705
With that in mind I wonder how long it is until Scott says Wanda/Doom/Stryker did nothing wrong like how Israel's prime minster recently said Hitler did nothing wrong.
>>
Wolverine would've told his students the purifiers were ignorant and to ignore them because they had to be better. He would assure the world there would not be any retaliation. Then he would send a kill squad after the purifiers.
>>
>>77500290
She didn't actually drink human blood. She read the thoughts of a cannibal and knew how it tasted. The whole dinner thing was mind fuckery.
>>
>>77501014
That's not exactly defensible. Scott saw it as the moment Emma could no longer be trusted with her abilities and rightly stripped them from her. AvsX would have turned out so much worse had Emma been the last one standing.
>>
Damn, reading Uncanny Avengers 1. Did Spider-man just get PCbro'd for wanting a mutie off the team?
>>
>>77500530
Wasn't there a time where Emma Frost was residing in Bobby's brain for a while after her body was "killed" by future Sentinels?

Yet she never figured out he was gay?

The whole thing is fucking stupid.
>>
>>77501128
No, faggot.

Continued reading of uncanny avengers, Rogue really hates inhumans. Funny how Deadpool is only there to sell merchandise.
>>
>>77501128
He hates Deadpool and refuses to work with him. Deadpool is funding the Unity Squad so if they kick him out, there goes all the cash.

everyone in marvel is a jerk. Luke cage and ironfist were assholes in Illuminati #1. everyone seems to be conflict oriented. They have had a couple of rough years since the avengers broke up. its like every few months shit gets real

My favorite part is how they talked to Hood like he lost to granny in wheelchair and not to three Avengers teams.

As far as I know, yeah, haven't encountered anything saying otherwise. Not surprising how every treats dead Jean like she's defied pizza or something.

>>77500907

I can't imagine the c uckoos or evil telepaths caring if it was rude to out Bobby Gayman, it seems like something they'd do to wind him up.

>>77501174

Yup. Also how he went from repressed to "lol Angel so hawt" in the space of a page.

I shit on Bendis all the time, half as a joke, but also because he can only write with one character voice and doesn't seem to understand tone or situational gravitas, but his time on Uncanny just feels like such a waste of time, nothing really happened at all apart from people reaffirming shallow characterization.

and wasn't the whole run just erased through time travel shinanigans anyways? I haven't read it cause I stay away from Bendis team shit and only read his solo stuff. Was listening to a youtube thing about malloy
>>
>>77505299
I like this edit, but I can't help but think it would be SO much better with Tony Stark.
>>
>>77505359
Almost all. his Uncanny run was erased because of the bogus revolution and Tempus retcon.

His All new X-Men run wasn't erased at all. Kitty loves Star-Lord and the O5 are here to stay.
>>
>>77505460

I bet he only wanted Uncanny to ensure All New x-men was the main book.

Everytime I read Uncanny Avengers Rogue is acting liek a bitch. First with Scarlet Witch, who also acted like a bitch, and now she sounds like a purifier except she hates inhumans. Didnt even know she dated the human torch. I wonder what caused the break up, Rogue being mad at Human torch being the ambassador to the inhumans or human torch leaving her because of mutant aids.
>>
>>77505589
First Rogue hated Wanda, killed her and all of sudden realizes she was wrong and Wanda becomes her bestie.
