Fantasia thread, since it's the 75th anniversary of Disney's magnum opus. Favorite sequence?
Dance of the Hours
All the parts with Steve Martin :^)
I'd say Disneys magnum opus was EPCOT, which never happened.
just went to disney recently- yeah I know- but they have a thing there the Philormagic a sort of 4d take on fantasia. pretty cool.

>- yeah I know-
No?
Mine is The sorcerer's apprentice with Mickey, Noah's ark with Donald Duck, the nutcracker sweet and The Dance of the Hours
I made a fan poster of Fantasia to honor on it's 75th year.

Always been a fan of Night on Bald Mountain, but Pastel Symphony is also great.
I've heard it said that the arrangement of Bald Mountain used in the film was apparently not very good, can anyone confirm this? How is it supposed to sound in that case, cause I think most would agree the sequence is amazing, both visually and musically.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iCEDfZgDPS8 This is the typical arrangement used nowadays. Personally, I prefer the arrangement used in the film, since it has a more primal, savage and evil feel to it.
>>77435711
Amazing animation but most the time is pretty boring
>>77436630
Yes but it was the first movie that have recorded on Stereo.
>It was called Fantasound
When Fantasia was release on video in 1991 it became a worldwide hit!
For The Nutcracker Sweet scenes it could be lot more better with the original Nutcracker Story.
>Like The Nutcracker Prince
In the Pastel Symphony, those flying horses are so adorable.
>>77435711
Rite of Spring, hands down.

>Pastel
It's "Pastoral" you nitwits.
>>77437157
I thought I made this shit up, thanks anon
>>77438292
Yeah, with the Dinosaurs that were in it.
>>77437157
Suite, not Sweet, first off. Second off, the Disney crew actively avoided using the story of the Nutcracker because it was too obvious a choice. That was a good move since EVERYONE has since done their version of the Nutcracker with the original music.
My favortie scene from the movie was the orchestra scenes where it had a blue background And black shadows of the minstral come to perfrom for the show.

And Leopold was ready to conduct the music.
Fact: Do you know that they were filming the music stand? It was in stage 1 at The Walt Disney Studios in burbank.
For Clair de Lune it was a great segment And original plan to add it on the Fantasia movie but they sealed and kept it some other time. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BLsWDqUG-AM
When Fantasia 2000 was release on new years days it became a classic sequal to the original movie.

The Toccata and Fugue in D Minor sequence creeped me the fuck out for some reason, I don't know why. Gave me straight-up nightmares, almost more so than Night on Bald Mountain.
>>77439268
Oh damn, really? That's like my favorite piece of classical music of all time. (Been trying to learn it on piano, but those arpeggios in the harmony are a motherfucker at the right tempo).
>>77440154
Well, I kinda like it. Beside it was fill with shape flying in the air.
>>77439534
Rhapsody in Blue and Firebird were great as fuck
The others were forgettable or unremarkable though
>>77440813
>>77439534
Even the segment with Donald Duck that was good.
>>77440813
Pines of Rome is an amazing song with a boring animation sequence.
>>77440920
Yes but with flying whales that was amazing.
When the film frist premiere it has a beautiful program.
>>77441262
And I hope some will have new ones.
Fantasia is a beautiful film.
I never understood how good Night on Bald Mountain was until I watched it as an adult, because it was too spooky for me as a child.

Eh, close, but no cigar.

When I was a kid I thought this was the most boring part. The older I get the more I like it and understand it.
The one with the fuckable centaur gals. Pretty much when I first found out I was a xenophile.

The Spring Sprite from 2000's also a turbo qt. Probably one of my first waifus.
