Look, Sam's...not the brightest batch of the bunch.

Being a complete fucking idiot that makes horrible decisions is Sam's most defining character trait.

When you grow up one day Sam, assuming you don't die or get written off, you're going to look back on everything and cringe so hard into a fusion reaction you warp reality and recreate the Nova Corps.
>>
And then he gets angry at her. What else did he expect would happen?

I don't see the problem. They're both teammates. They both have superpowers. They SHOULD have this level of trust in each other if they are going to survive as a unit.
>>

>>
>>77398444
Well he just met her that day. And they don't know that there gonna be teammates

Sam is such a lovable idiot. He's shota Hal Jordan, and while I long for Rich back I have no qualms with the kid whatsoever.

problem is muslim women aren't allowed to show their face, so there's no way she can reciprocate his action... he's such a privileged asshole.
>>

Muslim women have to dress modestly. That has many interpretations. There was a picture of Iran during the Shah's rule where women were wearing miniskirts.
>>

She literally does so ten minutes prior, in the shop on the corner, you dolt.
She doesn't tell him who she is because to her he is the irresponsible moron who just destroyed the drycleaners and she has a family to protect. She can't just fly off and be done with it.
Also he really just fucked everything up by following her into that alley.

Steve sometimes in the past has made offhand comments about christianity but Tony is definetly not religious. And they're not pushed as Christian superheroes as Kamala is a muslim superhero. Not to mention they have the experience to know all religions are bullshit because of cosmic gods they encountered firsthand. Thor doesn't really ask people to worship him or Odin.

She is not being pushed as a superhero in the only place it counts. The comic book.

Hal's not too bright in life but in a way he has that situation sorted. He could eject but then he gets the gruff. If he lands the plane he gets the respect, if he crashes and dies he doesn't have to worry and will probably be mourned.

Wrong. Marketing is a huge part of the industry. And we are not talking about sales or the industry, we are...or were talking about a comic and a STORY.

You are a massive tool for caring so much about marketing.

Some people are into comics for stories, I guess they all left /co/

Guys do stupid stuff when a girl is involved.
>>
>>77399849

and yet, the story does not "push" her being a Muslim, the story does not have that as a focus.

I understand it is easier to just "check" out comics and keep up with marketing, instead of actually reading them, but this board used to be better than that.
>>
>>77399958
Whether you realize it or not, Marvel claiming that Kamala being the first Muslim hero is them pushing something. It may be the complete opposite in the book (which it is), but that is the way Marvel is trying to make her seem like to potential buyers. This isn't a hard concept to grasp.

>>
>>77398909

Kamala has shown herself to be a fairly loose follower of Islam and is implied to only follow it as much as she does because her family makes her. The fact that she doesn't wear at least a headscarf says a lot.
>>
>>77398909
I know, right? Sam, as a Catholic, shouldn't be trusted.

Actually it depends. Different regions have different interpretations of what it means by "women should dress modestly." For the most part it's up to the individual. It's only the Middle Eastern shitholes controlled by radicals that mandate the hijab or burkas.

>no one actuallty thinks having the exact same image is great for dramatic pauses, right? It takes all the tension out of a scene.
maybe for you, I like it tho, It's the visual version of an Elepsis.

It's like a dramatic pause IRL, nothing changes and noone says anything new.

Pacing in sequential media is difficult, a comic thats about 20 pages and takes 30 minutes to read might consist of only a 10 minute fight scene. Conversly the same 20 pages could be used to portray an entire year of timeskips.

When you're portraying a tense moment where in real life time would seem to drag on and small changes in surroundings would be highlighted I think it's fine to change little or none of a scene between panels.
>>
>>77400678
Dress modestly is up to them for the most part.

Look at Nakia, she wears tight ass clothing but wears a hijab for the modesty bit like girls I know in real life. Kamala just wears clothes that covers her arms and legs for modesty.

Religions are organizations that serve as allegiance groups. There's very little point to one if it doesn't give you some form of superiority over everyone else.

I've read all the Ms Marvel comics, you're just some guy who can't get over the fact that girls were dismissive of you in middle school because your awkwardness made them feel withdrawn and uncomfortable.

Like seriously, what did you expect her to do? Shrug off all of Sam's terrible pick-up lines and be instant friends like one of your manic pixie waifu chicks? Chase after him after he went "Nah my name isn't actually Sam fuck you"? You're just shitting yourself because you got triggered.
>>
>>77406097
She had character development from her first issue.

Dude, she just revealed her identity to Kamran who was all date rapey as hell and who victim blamed her to try to get her to do what he wanted.

Why would she let herself get pressured by another guy (one that she just fucking met) to do something again?

Nova is being creepy as fuck from her perspective. She's also already been unsettled by the fact he followed her into a alley,
>>
>>77406097
That was a pretty Kamala-like freak out anon. A normal girl would have been more concerned about the flirting, not maintaining her secret identity.

I'm not defending Nova, but hell Kamala writes fucking fan fictions of the Avengers, it seems odd that she would be so blunt with another hero instead of sperging out like she always does around them.

Look, if I can tell a character isnt written by the same writer, then they didnt get the character right. Also Kamran knew who she was, she didnt really reveal herself.

I didn't use any "examples" you cunt I was just mocking you. The actual argument is in the second paragraph where I ask you what you expected Kamala to actually do, and clearly you have no idea, because all you know is that you don't want your comic waifu to act like all those girls who turned you down in middle school.

Well too bad faggot because that's how any girl or guy would act when you stammer and sweat at them and act like you're hot shit after you wreck their local dry cleaners.
>>
>>77406360
Kamala just saw him punch an animal's teeth out (Kamala hates causing unnecessary pain) and he joked about the damage he caused in her city while he tried to flirt with her.

Nova was being a dumbass creep.
>>
>>77406360
As another anon pointed out, she's paid for being too trusting before and he already creeped her out by following her. Also she has no reason to sperg out over Nova. He isn't a popular Avenger and most of his impressive stuff happened in space or in the middle of bumfuck nowhere. The most significant thing he did near Kamala's area was crash into a 747.
>>

Yeah but you don't make a roster with everyone being 15.
I mean, who could be interested in this? Besides teenagers.

>>77414416

Teens happen to be the target audience for comics.

Sam isn't a teen
Tony isn't a teen
Vision isn't a teen
Thor isn't a teen
>>

So you are saying that these characters both read like teenagers?
>>
>>77415335
>you don't make a roster with everyone being 15.
It's 3 teen members getting trained by 4 adult members.

Also this may come as a surprise to you, but superhero comics are generally considered to be for teenagers. The fact that we all obsess over them is because we're generally a bunch of socially maladjusted shut-ins.

None. Those anons are talking out of their ass. Bendis only talked about Rider ONCE. In his Original Sin tie in. All the retcons done there were a result of his not re-reading Thanos Imperative before writing. Not because he hates Rider. There's only two persons inside Marvel that hate him and those are Brevoort and Alonso.

It's from All-new All-Different Avengers #1. It was pretty good, main story was by-the-numbers but the back-up was fun (this is from the back-up). Hard to tell how the book will be until more issues come out though, since only 1 is hard to judge off of.

If you want some good teenage romance comics from Marvel, Spider-man Loves Mary Jane is fantastic. Bendis' Ultimate Spider-man also has plenty of that.
>>
>>77416843
>any more comics with teenage love involved ?
Damn, tough question.
There was quite a lot of it in Runaways, mostly under BKV and Whedon. Less in vol.3 because Moore shot what remained in the head.
Mettle and Hazmat in Avengers Academy had a thing, it was pretty good one.
Always some in Young Avengers, through the most prominent romance is gay one, dunno if you are into that.
New X-Men Academy X (later renamed just New X-men) had a lot of romance, better or worse.
And there is weird thing with Al Ewing books - Mighty Avengers, Captain America & the Mighty Avengers and now New Avengers - all have this continuous thing that there is something going beteen two teenagers who show up in all 3 books, White Tiger and Pwoer Man. Except it's mostly off-panel and we only see some parts. I'm sure Ewing is trolling us with this.

I get where you're coming from and I totally agree.

But I don't think Superman has to worry about Lex Luthor finding out his secret identity. Not because he's super (ha) good at it, but because I'm pretty sure I've seen Lex Luthor comment on several occasions that he doesn't think Superman actually HAS a secret identity, because he can't fathom someone having that kind of power and wanting to pretend they don't.

Or, if you want to take that one greentext:

"Yeah I've known he's Clark Kent for years."
"But we could totally ambush him while he's sleeping!"
"What, is he less bulletproof in his pajamas?"
>>

In that particular run, Batman had taken miles of underwater tunnels back to the bat cave after coming back from a job involving the joker. Later, he found water puddles on the dock the boat was next to, some water in the mansion, and that card on a table. Bruce already deduced that Joker already knew his identity and had been in Wayne manor.

I don't remember the details after that, whether or not he was correct, but in-comic that's the reason why.

It's more like they want him to be a dead figure like Jean Grey. Someone that gives Sam and Gamora some kind of tragedy to live with. I would like to say one for Quill too but apparently he made his peace with Rider's death the moment he started pursuing Kitty's vagina.

This, the current Nova writers have been really good with Rich and Sam thinks about him ocassionally and was the only character who bothered wanting to know what happened to Rich and the one who bothered telling the Rider family that their son was dead when he knew.

The ANADA Nova writer already said that he plans to include Rich in an upcoming arc, not necessarily bring him back (well he said he didn’t want to promise anything) but he wanted to explore Rich's legacy and the legacy of the Nova corp, Worldmind, and where the fuck Sam is getting his Nova force.

Bendis only brought him up for his shitty story and crapped on him and thought he could make it up to fans by having Peter say I LOVED HIM AND HE LOVED YOU GAMORA! And then he gets ocassionally brought up only when someone wants to mention that he died.
>>
>>77416212
NO ONE at Marvel bothered to really read Annihilation and Thanos Imperative or the Giffen-DnA stuff, at most they skimmed it and it's so blatantly obvious because Yost thought Namorita died in the cancerverse and in that shitty Zemo Avengers story with Cammi you see Peter as Star-Lord during the events of Annihilation.
>>
>>77416401
It's funny because personality wise Sam is more like Hal, especially on the idiot poor decision making skills, even sucks at keeping his identity a secret.

He is also endearing as fuck.

>>77417049
He was asked if Rich fans were like HEAT and he said that they were a weaker version of HEAT, lol I guess that tumblr victimization rubbed on.

Also it kind of sucks for Brevoort and Loeb since they push Sam a lot but the character doesn't really take on, hell most of the boards and articles I see about Sam are filled with people going WHERE IS RICHARD RIDER? Suprisingly Anwen and the Bakian Family got more love from those people than Sam.

>>77419778
Quill is nothing but just into Kitty and ocassionally Gamora and crying about his asshole dad, he is also too much of a spazz to really think about anything else other than that and whatever retarded meme or 80's reference the writer wants him to say.

Depending on when his parent's moved to America, and if they're first or second generation, he's more likely to be Protestant.

I remember working it out one day a few years ago. Basically it depends on when the Rogers family came to America - which reminds me, Rogers isn't a very Irish name but whatever - and also how many kids they had. He's definitely Christian one way or the other mind you, and would have been practicing in his childhood. Whether or not he still observes is up to the writer. And, you know, depending on how you define observing. There's a trend in the Irish to still identify as Christian, especially among Catholics, even if they don't believe in anything upon high.

Depends. During and After his insanity streak (which oddly wasn't very long, but he was more remembered for that) he was pretty physically strong -- enough to stalemate Sentry and deck Hyperion in the face and end up unscathed. I'd love to see him reappear. He's legit my favorite superhero ever. If you ever get a chance check out the Peter David Run of Captain Marvel, its pretty well written and set some of the groundwork for Phyla Vell to show up in the DnR cosmic stuff later on. Sad we didn't get to see Genis show up in it. (To be honest, his run is better imo than Carol's run.)

>>
>>77430757
See now we need Jean Grey shopped into the picture. Suddenly making everyone gay.
>>
>>77430979
Yeah basically. Im a huge fan of the original Marv, definitely, but his original story was wrapped up well and felt like they put a bow on top. Genis was never God Levels though, he was strong, like him and Rune Thor smacked each other around, but he was never Superman or Silver Surfer levels. He only killed Eternity because Eternity's son gave him a weapon to. There was more kinda cerebral stuff in it. He got over insanity though and Marvel Editorial killed him in Thunderbolts so they could bring back Mar-Vell as a skrull. (Don't know why, it would've been interesting to see him interact with Genis and Hulkling.) Same with Phyla. Shame she died so awkwardly.
>>
>>77430883
Wait what. And what does that have to do with Finesse and Striker
>>
>>77431035
I always saw Mar-vell, Genisverll and thor on the same level. But I feel like Mar-vell is better than superman in the fact that despite how good a person he was he died and left this llegacy with these huge shoes to fill that no one else really could.

I hope He's mentioned in the cpatain marvel movie. Would be nice if the movieverse avengers actually rememebr him too. And the sentry + old heroes, know what I mean?

Honestly Phyla died like she should have. Her entire purpose was to bring back thanos so he could deal with the cancerverse. THe only issue is that she should have come back to be an actual Captain Marvel instead of carol. There were so many people who could have been Captain Marvel, and they just choose the worst one.
>>
>>77431172
>they just choose the worst one
Not really? I mean, complain all you want about how Carol becoming Cap Marvel was handled, but Earth-X already established that Carol becomes Captain Marvel. Phyla was already like three codenames removed from her stint as captain marvel at that point.

>inb4 >implying Earth-X is canon
>>
>>77431172
I think that's a good reason for her to be captain marvel. She was a useless piece of eyecandy for most of her life. Living in the shadow of the name she took. By taking it, she has the chance to be a good hero in her own right. Love the costume too.

I don't know what her chaarcter is like thoug, wish i could write her though. I'd make her a male meathead stereotype. BAsically just a huge idiot with saiyan powers running around the galaxy punching things, with an innate sense of right and a bullshit detector.
>>
>>77431068
Definitely. Genis is my favorite superhero, but Mar-vell is totally a close one. Mar-vell is one of my favorite Superman anagrams compared to Mr Majestic of the new Hyperion. I love to see random little bits of "hey, your father did this for me, thank you" etc. It was kinda charming to see in that one Silver Surfer issue. Then the one issue of Captain Marvel where he meets Mar Vell in a universe with no one besides him and doesn't want to leave him to die of cancer in an empty universe. It really Tugs at the heart strings.
>>
>>77431203
EX doesn't make Carol a better character.

>>
>>77431330

>>77431328
Name one story where Carol is enjoyable rather than just passable
>>
>>77431330
Most major events in the comic book world leave her out. She only garned popularit around the civilwar and dark avengers arcs.

Before that she didn't do much but wear a thing gogoboots and some weird ass shirt thing, then she fucked around in space and no one gives a shit about space capes. I mean i grew up with dark hawk, i love the guy, but even i know a b-c list nobody when is see them.

Most comic nerds i talked to never even heard of the gaurdians till recently. these are people who work in the industry now. Space heroes just wind up being so far removed from everything that they aren't grounded enough in reality to be relateable.
