Did /co/ like Motorcity?
Not really. Art was kinda crap, main character was a dick, cars are boring.
Yeah, I thought it was great. Was really disappointed when it and Tron Uprising were cancelled.
>>77392814
Yep.
The Duke was the best. And had the best cars.
>>77392814
this desu senpai>>77392824
should have just been a miniseries or a music video
Know Symbionic Titan on the other hand.... that was a lose.
it was pretty neat.
i watched it mostly for the girls though.
>>77392814
is this official art from the production? got any more like this?
Sad there's not more porn of Julie, but otherwise a waste of talent on 2edgy4teenagers story.
>>77392824
>main character was a dick
Lol wut? He was a nice guy
>>77392824
The cars were actually not bad, just not enough variety outside the main cast and meaningful modifications.
The art was here and there, but serviceable, the Guy was definitely a dick. I know it's supposed to come off as Coop 2.0. but it doesn't for whatever reason.
>>77392814
I expected it to be a ''the government/police/establishment/man is bad'' story, but was pleasantly surprised at how they handled it.
>>77392881
>Symbionic Titan on the other hand.... that was a lose
Hahaha. No, familia. No.
>>77393668
Are you talking about Mike? Because I didn't get that vibe at all.
I loved Motorcity. Although I hated Judy and Texas. They were both complete unfunny idiots that made me cringe whenever they were on.
Other then that, I loved the animation, the art was super rad, and the characters were cool as fuck (The Duke is best villain)
Just marathoned it the other day. I'd give it a 4/5. The only gripe I have is how the cars did some physics breaking shit constantly.
>>77393102
This. They get little to no fanart and it makes me sad.
Where the hell do people get Mike "Brotercity" Chilton being a dick?
Only for the Duke
It was in the middle-tier of it's generation of action toons. Not as good as Tron or SBT but on par with GLTAS and not shit like YJ, Korra or Thundercats.
Found it super-meh. Detroit was merely set dressing for a cartoon that could've been set anywhere. There was no meaningful use of even what little setting was provided in the show.
I ended up dropping it about 9 episodes in and never looked back.
>/co/ doesn't even remember the shoutout we got during one of the last episodes
>or that the crew would come here all the time
I've been on here too long. People are forgetting the old days
>>77392814
What order should I watch it in?
>>77395223
Someone else remembers, old timer.
>>77394075
maybe they read the script.
>>77394913
If it came out today, it'd be elder god tier by comparisson.
>>77395270
I just learned that double clicking a txt on file select, copies it to the textbox. At least on appchan x.
Anyway, you want to watch it in production order as found on wikipedia. Otherwise you'll have to wait ages for Julie to get her first episode like we did back in the day and what little connections there are between episodes won't work properly.
1 - Battle For Motorcity
2 - Power Trip
3 - Ride The Lightning
4 - The Duke of Detroit
5 - Texas-ify It!
6 - Off The Rack
7 - Fearless
8 - Blond Thunder
9 - Going Dutch
10 - Vendetta
11 - Ride of The Fantasy Vans
12 - The Duke of Detroit Presents
13 - Reunion
14 - Like Father, Like Daughter
15 - Julie and The Amazons
16 - The Robo-Roundup
17 - Threat Level
18 - Mayhem Night
19 - Vega
20 - A Better Tomorrow
It was pretty good, but overshadowed by Tron Uprising literally being one of the best shows of all time.
>>77396870
Alright, thank you.
There was a thread for canceled shows way back when and someone gave me this episode order, but I lost it.
I actually couldn't even remember if the episode order they gave me was for Motorcity or Tron: Uprising.
>>77396944
Tron Uprising doesn't need an episode order, since it was aired in order. Disney are stupid, but they aren't this stupid. Tron is completely interconnected with every minor character having character growth over pretty much every episode.
Motorcity is - by Disney's own demand - largely episodic. Still, as I said, this order still helps a bit.
>>77396989
One more thing, should I watch the Tron movies before watching Uprising?
>>77397060
It couldn't hurt. At the very least watch Legacy.
>>77396791
No, I'm serious. Name one time he did anything remotely douchey
>>77397060
Not neccessary at all. The series is much better than either movie and it is about characters and events that don't really show up in the movies at all.
The status quo/prequel of Tron Uprising is already stuff made up as the set-up for Legacy, but it's still not actually covered in Legacy, but still just in flashbacks.
So basically the first Tron movie has about nothing to do with the series and the second Tron movie just sort of establishes the world of Uprising in flashbacks and then wraps up the world, without actually using any of the characters or closing any of the plots of the show at all.
You can literally never watch the movies and get the exact same experience 100%.
That being said, I'd watch the show and then maybe watch Legacy if you're going for seconds, even though it's not as good and human beings look weird.
First Tron movie is pretty damn scrappy Star Wars-y adventure film that does little of value other than having that concept in the first place and hand painting the tron lines onto every single tiny frame of the freaking reel with fucking paint in handy work.
Motorcity had the best threads. The crew stopped by every once in a while.
Even put a little easter egg in the show for us.
>>77397308
No wonder it canceled.
>>77397723
>No wonder it canceled.
After they changed the time slot every other week without announcing it at all and having about 3 different hiatuses, all that on a dead end network.
Yeah, no wonder it was cancelled.
>>77397723
It was cancelled because Disney XD.
In general /co/ seemed to like it. If only Disney had liked it as much as we did.

the show was a bit too scooby doo for my tastes, but the aesthetic was boss as fuck

For whatever reason I enjoyed the supporting characters despite the fact that they did just about as much as other supporting characters in other shows. I liked Dutch and Texas okay, but was pleased to see Jules grow as a character.
It helped that her episodes also usually featured Claire, who was all sorts of delicious brown.
>>77407680

Without explanation, the show just starts with him having it and it's never addressed.

And everybody still refers to it as a car, using car terminology.
Actually, I wouldn't have minded more mecha-car porn in this show.

It was stuck on a notoriously shitty channel that nobody watches and constantly changes scheduling without warning on a whim.
>>77407608
That's a pretty brutal intro for a Disney show.
Might seriously be my all time favorite show when it comes to artstyle and animation, but didn't care much for the story (it's good but just doesn't click with me for some reason). Voice acting is great and although I do find a few characters annoying (Texas, Chucks constant screaming, Tooley and Duke) were all the performances topnotch.
Anyone know what the artists who worked on this show are working with now?

One of my faves. As a fan of action cartoons, I'd say that it's the best original cartoon series to come out this decade. Loved the art direction, loved the over the top action sequences, loved the music, loved the cast, loved Dee Snider, etc. etc.
Really scratched an itch for me in an era where slice of life and quirky, random humor has all but taken over the cartoon scene.

It's more bizarre that Disney failed to capitalize on this property and successfully market it to young boys ages 10 and under.
Let me re-iterate that to reflect on how insane that is.
DISNEY failed to MARKET a show about CARS THAT SHOOT LASERS to BOYS AGES 10 AND UNDER.
Granted, any dosh they would have made from Motorcity merch was likely to be inconsequential compared to the dosh they're already getting from their other IPs (especially Star Wars), but goddamn it: how?

I guess shows like Star Vs. just fit the lolquirky cartoon zeitgeist, and even shows which get popular like Star Vs. or Gravity Falls still get the XD schedule treatment. XD as a whole doesn't make any sense whatsoever, please correct me if I'm wrong but the only show with a predictable airing schedule seems to be Star Wars Rebels.

Or chuck even. With the exception of the LARP episode, Chuck didn't really DO much other than general sidekicking stuff
Does anyone have a torrent link to motorcity?
>>77421876
He had his moments, a decent amount of character development, a cute sidekick, and even a nice romance subplot. That's arguablely more than Texas had going for him, as he's a pretty shallow character (but pretty damn funny) and only really more memorable because of how over the top he is.
>>77422032
He's so damn ugly.
>>77421962
None with any seeders, but a based anon in this thread is currently uploading them to MEGA
>>77421916
I can't find the shot you're talking about, but have this!
>>77421962
Working on a MEGA upload as we speak. It's taking forever because it's a huge file though.
>>77422032
I feel like Texas wouldn't have been as memorable if he hadn't been voiced by based Jess Harnell
>>77421916
Unless you mean this shot, but she isn't really jumping.

Thanks, I'm pretty sure this is what I was remembering (maybe).

There was also the "Fearless" Chuck episode that was pretty cool.

Also, the LARPing episode was GOAT.

>>77422509
That's no trouble at all man, mine was only like 50% of the way anyway. Mission accomplished either way, and now more people can experience the show in glorious HD.
Thanks!
>>77422509
Just a warning, the episodes are out of order here.

That was the time of young justice and the first season of Korra as well.
An all too brief period where action cartoons seemed like they were making a resurgence.
Now there's barely anything.
Watching the first episode, this is kind of shit.
The animation and directing is gorgeous, but outside of Julie, Claire, and Abraham, the character design is very ugly.
And what the fuck is this voice acting? Kate MIcucci? Really? Who looked at Julie's design and thought "That's Kate Micucci!"?
But the premise is brilliant, I just wish the execution followed suit.
I don't think I'm gonna finish this.
>>77423322
Give it a little time, it improves after the pilot. The story takes a few episodes kick in for a few episodes, and it takes a little while to introduce the best characters.
>>77423363
I doubt it's worth it.
>>77423847
Not that anon, or really a fan but at the very least trust me on this: watch the Duke of Detriot episode(s).
That will make this worth it.
>>77423950
Can I skip episodes 1-3?
>>77424031
I can't recall for certain how or if things come together, but I'm fairly sure from what I do recall of the Duke episodes at least that they're fairly self-contained. So yes.
Why is captcha telling me to select popcorn and showing me Cashew nuts?
>>77424079
>Why is captcha telling me to select popcorn and showing me Cashew nuts?
get Legacy Captcha.
>>77424031
1 and 2 are easily skippable.
3 is good though.
Skip 4 while you're at it. That's one of the dumber episodes
Episode 5 is the first appearance of Duke
Wow... this show looks awesome, i can't believe i miss all these when it was on air, but can't you blame me... it was on disneyXD.
>>77424257
According to the production order, 4 is the first episode with Duke.
>>77423322
>hate an entire series based on one episode
I love Motorcity, I genuinely think it's good, but come the fuck on. I even gave Steven Universe a hard shot before throwing it in the trash. If you don't like it, thats totally fine but I just think its shitty to disregard something after one episode alone.
>>77424393
>I even gave Steven Universe a hard shot before throwing it in the trash.
One of the hardest things I've ever had to do
>>77424480
How far did you make it?
I got to episode 30-something before I couldn't take it anymore. Peer pressure is a bitch and I was forcing myself through with genuine hope that maybe I just wasn't seeing it. Complete denial. Maybe its not bad enough to warrant my complete disdain for it, but it definitely isn't up my alley.
>>77424393
I don't get the "Every show has a bad first episode" meme.
I've enjoyed the first episode of every show I currently watch/love.
Steven Universe is a weird one though, in retrospect, the first episode is shit.
But I knew I loved the show as soon as I saw the incomplete pilot. Strange.
>>77424558
I don't think every, or even most first episodes of a show are bad. As for SU, I gave it over 30 episodes(yet i had intensely loved the pilot) before officially giving up.
My point was that basing an entire series off of one episode is kind of shitty.
>>77424546
I got to three before I realized it wasn't for me
It really, really wasn't
WHY IS EVERYONE SO UGLY?!
>>77424558
>I don't get the "Every show has a bad first episode" meme.
Not a meme, I'd go into a long thing here about how it's like first impressions and first time presentations in front of an audience you've never seen or spoken to before to give context but really it's more than just that personal level of thinking, it has to do with the fact the whole crew is dealing with new material AND have to introduce characters, themes, plots, stories, locations, setting, etc all at once which starts to mess with pacing and can overwhelm viewers and put them off or go over their head and get completely ignored and so on. It's a frantic juggling act and if you don't pull it off exceptionally your audience is liable to just leave and never come back for all your effort.
>>77424824
>and if you don't pull it off exceptionally your audience is liable to just leave and never come back for all your effort.
Which is why I don't want to continue Motorcity.
>>77424689
What killed it for you?
What'd you like in the pilot?
>>77425433
>What killed it for you?
Steven mostly. He just kept fucking up constantly even when specifically told not to do something and aside an "OH, Steven." he just got away with it after blubbering his eyes out. I couldn't stand it. It just kept boiling down to "but i was only trying to help!" and never learning from his actions because he's so coddled. I get he's based off of Sugar's little brother or whatever and he's suppose to be all innocent and all that but its not endearing. Amethyst just comes off as a huge abusive jerk rather than the 'fun' girl they probably tried to go with. Connie and that fat chick that hangs out with Lars - I find them without personality.
>What'd you like in the pilot?
It's been so long I can't tell you. I did have hype about 'strong female protagonists' that kickass rather being there for the sole purpose of fapbait. I do love that shit and I can see why younger girls/women got so attached to it but overall I feel like they tried too hard to play it safe. I even think it's neat what they did with Steven's dad. Steven being atrocious aside, the plot was either too boring or too slow for me to keep forcing myself to watch something I already didn't like.
I considered picking it back up for that big muscular gem and the green one since they look like neat villains but honestly I think I'm just going to let it be.
>>77425893

Now I don't know how the episodes are all numbered exactly but I'm pretty sure that all stops almost completely before the thirtieth episode.
>>77426187

Mike is like a physical copy of Murdoc while Chuck has 2D's personality, it's weird.
>>77427826
They're a functional version of the same relationship, Murdoc and 2-D have maxed out the abuse.

She was supposed to be a Burner, the mechanic of the team (so the software guy and the colour guy didn't need to fix the cars), but Disney thought two girls on the team were too alienating to the boys they wanted to target.
Adored it. Wish they released the soundtrack.
>>77429827
So they didn't appreciate the show's marketing potential enough to actually market it, but enough to ruin potentially interesting plot or character developments with executive meddling over marketability concerns.
Fuck Disney, just fuck Disney.
I wonder if Kane's Vega car was the one he used before he became full anti-personal vehicle.
>>77395223
>>77395317
Explain please
>>77431463
They referenced /co/ directly, by name, in an episode. I forget which one, but "/co/" was printed on a can label or something, front and center on the screen.
You know, Disney XD shows live and die by demands for merch. Think a Twitter campaign might do something?
>>77421428
There's a rule with XD: no merch until season 2.
It backfires pretty often.
